Famitsu has posted pictures of another new face appearing in the fourth installment of the Street Fighter series, and it's a big blond guy! Named Abel, he is a rather muscular bloke wearing white hand guards, blue shin guards, tight white shorts and a blue shirt of some sort. Billed as "The man with no past", Abel seems to have amnesia - a first for a video game character. From the always deadly accurate translation tool, Babelfish:

That is an awesome Guile expression. Also I can't get over the fact that both their clothes are matching the canopy behind Abel and the sign above Guile.
I think they just copied Titan from the new American Gladiators.

Can these models look any more hideous? Just look at guiles face(intentional or not its fugly)I hope this isn't what the final build of the game looks like.
That point aside, I wonder what nationality the blue guy is from?
They need to stop shoveling out all of these crappy new ones and just stick to the original cast of capcom fighters and not trying to make new ones that nobody cares about cause then that takes away from the original fighters.

Doesn't look bad, but that shot makes him look awfully generic.
All these bizarre, horrible facial expressions and club feet are making this look like all the characters arrived to the tournament on the short bus.

Yay new grappler, but I still want Hugo. I'm betting no new characters from SFIII will show up though.
@MURDERFACE: Capcom made SF3, and that had 90% new characters. Everyone seemed to enjoy the new characters from that. I'm waiting on some SF3 characters to be in SF4 really.

There are a number of videogame characters with forms of amnesia. Most recently in Lost Odyssey.

I thought Greek given the shot above, but he doesn't look very Greek. Then again, Ryu doesn't look very Japanese either...so go figure...
I didn't even recognize the character on the right as Guile until you all pointed it out. Wow, they need to work on those character models.
Classic bear build with a cut pair of short shorts. At the capcom site, we have a clear bulge in the crotch in one of the photos. So a potentially a 'gay' fighter? Awesome!

If you can't notice that Guile is in that screenshot, the problem is with you and not the models in game.

Wow, I like Abel, way more than Crimson Viper, she doesn´t fit with the characters but this guy seems to fit really well.
Of course the game needs new characters, it´s a new game, if we only wanted old characters we would be happy with only the older games and stuff. Awesome, I really liked it!! Capcom is going to rule with this game.
@DCSimian: The Famitsu site shows some red, white & blue stripes on his Gi top, which I'd say might point to a US fighter. Though red, white & blue + big dude + blonde hair could = Norway.
@rockmanjoey: His outfit & gear would suggest a modern MMA or K-1 style. My money, however, is on Judo.
I think this guy fits in better than Red Viper, but for some reason he reminds me of a soccer player.
Wow, looking at that bottom picture, this guy has some huge toes.
Perhaps he is a decendant of the Greater Ajax, known for his grappling. I can't wait for the King Leonidas character to show up in the SF4 cast!

sigh...i hate to say this...but who cares? I loved SF and have played it off and on for almost 20 years including the crappy arcade port where the punches/kicks were designated by how hard you hit the button but man...SF is irrelevant now.
I hope Capcom can prove me wrong but I really doubt it.
That outfit makes me think of Ryu and Ken just a bit.
Maybe a German version of them?

@Steel_Pelican: I'd say more likely Sambo then Judo, as the Jacket/Shorts combo is like the uniform worn in Sambo, but as there's already a Russin/Soviet grappling character in Zangief, who knows. Maybe French? The stripes match the French colours, as does the clothing (France wear blue and white in football and rugby)

Maybe it was all that Middle Eastern food I ate at lunch, but "Abel seems to have amnesia - a first for a video game character" had me trying to avoid audible laughing for about 5 minutes after I got back to the office.
He looks like a bodybuilder who strayed from his gym...
