Resistance: Fall of Man deeply upset some members of the Church of England after development studio Insomniac digitized Manchester Church for a little man vs. mutant/alien warfare. So with the studio's upcoming sequel, will Insomniac avoid religious locations? CEO Ted Price fills us in.
We've actually made it a big focus to include more churches and now synagogues and mosques in Resistance 2.Insomniac...uhh...if you weren't busy later...maybe...I could like...have your babies...or something.

cool
Yes.. so this way all religions can be treated equally.
wow insomniac is officially my favorite developer.
Heh...
"You complain about one church? WELL HOW ABOUT WE PUT EVERYONE ELSE'S CHURCH IN OUR GAME AND LEAVE YOURS OUT!!!!"
'Insomniac...uhh...if you weren't busy later...maybe...I could like...have your babies...or something. '
You may have sex in church, on the church, near the church, but you may not have sex with the church... sorry, it's against teh rules.
This ladies and gentlemen is what we called being owned
Ha. I'm taking this with a big grain of sarcasm, though.
@AEREC:
Um ... isn't that my avatar you're using?
And yay for Resistance.
Something tells me this was said very sarcastically.
Joke?
*rebuys Ratchet and Resistance*
Perhaps this will bring about peace in the Middle East?
Good going... so what if people complain? If someone is offended, they can quit playing.
Heh, I love to see game devs sticking it to the man.
Beautiful!
haha briliant.
*Facepalm*
I'd expect half the game to take place between Jerusalem and Mecca, with the final boss in the Vatican,
I figure this comment was dripping with sarcasm, but I love it anyway.
RELIGIOUS CONTROVERSY COMING TO THE XBOX 360 12-14 MONTHS AFTER THE PS3 VERSION. RUMOR CONFIRMED!
Mosques, eh? Can't wait till those radical islamists run a muck at Insomniac's studios.
Capitalizing on contreversey always works. Good show, though, for not backing down to those godless Protestants.
This is an outrage!!!!!! Amen!
Well I am a member of the church of england and Ill be picking this up day 1, its a game and its not like you walk into the church to burn it to the ground and worship the Devil on its ashes....
badass
Is it illegal to take pictures of private property and recreate their likeness elsewhere?
doesn't that fall into intellectual property at some point?
It's likely recreating a real world church would only serve as publicity, but given the heretical nature of the game itself - aliens can't wipe out humanity, because god wouldn't let them - I can see why churches would be offended.
Is it legal to recreate private property in movies, paintings, videogames or other art forms?
Hahahahahah!!! This is the greatest story ever.
Is there nobody left in this world who doesn't get offended easily?
AWESOME
Simply fantastic.
Hate religion not spirituality....
awesome
Holy shit. You rock Insominiac.
Can't wait to kill Chimera's in taboo places.
lmfao
Best answer ever!
Sounds like their using each other for publicity. I know the Church was using the situation the first round of this disagreemant, if that is the right word. And they probably recieved more attention than that Church has seen since the French Revolution. Now it's the Developers turn.
they should make xenu the final boss
Honestly though. I'm still playing Resistance to this date. Can't wait for the new one, and all the religeous leaders kicking off! AMEN Brother!
They've got the biggest, Balls of them all!
Hah, nice. Put those balls out there.
Awesome. So this time you're actively seeking to insult people.
It's Fantastic.
@SolidOni_ds: Oh you didn't hear about the new features?
Am I the only one that thought Mosques was a form of bug?
@magically_delicious:
Legally, as long as you can see it from the outdoors, you can generally photograph with impunity. Kids in a playground, famous buildings, etc., they're all fair game. (At least in the U.S.)
I love this. They don't care about whinning, but at least they aren't discriminating. They are putting all religions in there. Awesome.
This is great news. Because for me it means they will not back down and support there game 100%. So I can't wait to see what happens this time around.
Final boss is Mohammed I heard
Where were any mosques in the 50s? More power to them. Way to go, Insomniac. I think they should have all the cats in the game look creepily like Ratchet, though.
@sUKi: Uhh... haha yea i think so. XD
So Resistance 2 is going to be amazing. The first one was okay in my oppinion but the huge multiplayer and co-op will make this badass. Now we get to piss off more than cathlics [sp]. This will be great.
Really, you mean a game dev isn't bending to the rules of PR? Color me Surprise.
mosques in the 50s in the US? i mean, if its appropiate (like it was in the first) go for it, but this just sounds like they are trying to get some attention.
zomg insomniac ftmfw
@Strangelove: Not if it contains a copyrighted symbol. Like stores, or ninjas. You can't take a picture of a ninja without permission, because that's the only time you can see them.
Game on!
Also it should be known that my dad is a priest in the church of England and when he saw me in there all he could say was "what a beautiful cathedral!"
I say attack all religions and cultures equally in games. No one should be neglected. ;)
I dont care what they are going after I just want to play this masterpiece and get some 60 player online multiplayer cracking yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!
I'm so glad they are not being pushed down by religious bullshit. For some reason a lot of religious people feel their ideas fall outside the realm of criticism or being use by others. Wrong. It's a free market on ideas, we have freedom of speech, get the fuck over it, it's just a video game.
@TheModernDaySinner: Yes, you can buy Resistance 2 on your 360...right after I go buy Gears of War 2 on PS3.
Sidenote: You seem to have accidentally pushed in your Caps Lock button. ;)
