If you're still left wanting from today's earlier announcement that EA has struck a deal with Hasbro to bring Littlest Pet Shop and Nerf N-Strike to the Wii, perhaps you'll perk up for news on a game you actually want to play. Say, G.I. Joe, for example, which Variety says is part of the EA-Hasbro alliance and should ship alongside the film adaptation of the cartoon in Summer 2009. Details are scarce, but in the EA fashion, we expect it come to every platform under the sun. We certainly hope for it to be better than EA's Catwoman.
Hopefully, it won't just be relegated to mobile phones and Pogo.com, instead featuring billions of red lasers and blue lasers generating next-gen sparks, ultimately missing every single intended target. Sure, the G.I. Joe movie may have a few head-scratching choices, but that doesn't mean our inner eight year olds aren't wicked psyched.

COOOOOOOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
does this mean they'll finally make a Play-Doh game?..if so...SCORE!!
Oh god... I don't even wanna know what's going to happen with Nerf...
I don't want to be excited this because I know both are most likely going to dissapoint but what the hell, GO JOE!
Alongside the film adaption? Eh.
Still, theres some hope. Always hope.
Just gimme a game with Ranger, Snake-eye and Stormshadow that does NOT suck! Plz.
Hopefully based on the original cartoon, not this new crap.
Who wants a body massage?
@-EDGE-:
It's EA. Not sucking is not an option.
Was Snake Eye the blind one? Would the screen be filled with visual representations of your enhanced non-visual senses? And I don't just mean the sonar visor from M''.
@Slashlen:
I'm afraid you will be correct :(
(Ohh and I meant "Snake-Eyes") in my giddy fanishnass I typed too quick :)
G.I. Joe! It's the video game of the film of the cartoon of the comic book of the toy line!
Yeah, that's a quality indicator right there... Right up there with "Transformers: The Game"
personally i hope it's RTS game instead of FPS or third-person action....
Well it's EA making the game, so it's an automatic no thanks.
@JackTretton:
stole the words right from my mouth
Here's hoping that one side shoots blue lasers and the other side shoots red. Also, there is no death, only vehicle destruction.
Seriously, does anybody care about G.I. Joe anymore? I liked the cartoons and toys from the 80's when I had them, but it's a tired franchise. It needs to die. Is anyone here actually excited for G.I. Joe the game or the upcoming movie?
Goooooo Jooooe! The movie is on Youtube, brings back memories......
G.I.Joe: Nemesis!
Storm shadow in a life-or-death no-holds-barred struggle against unique EA ip!
I would *die* of happiness. Serpentor!? With his thing!? OMGERZ
As a huge GI Joe fan, i'm dreading the movie. What they're doing with the movie by making if a global unit instead of "A Real American Hero" makes me want to cry. And i don't cry. Not ever.
@TORGEN THINKS AAA MEANS "COSTS $60":
He wasn't blind, actually. He was just disfigured.
Also, the worst part about the movie is that i haven't heard a damn thing about Flint! He's looked over way too much!
PORK CHOP SANDWICHES
It's YO JOE!
I'd love to see a G.I. Joe game. It's not something I'm terribly excited about, but it coming out doesn't hurt me in anyway and it could be good.. So I have no reason to say it shouldn't be made.
I remember having a huge crush on Scarlette when I was a kid. She used to be so hot.
Because knowing is half the battle ...
I love that pic. Especially the glaring femme fatale wielding a freakin' crossbow.
There will be 2 modes featured in the game. PSA Mode and Sgt Slaughter kills alien races without a gun Mode.
@balls187: Damn you to hell! I wanted to say that!
Battlefield: GI Joe, confirmed!
@BigDanG: That actually makes a ton of sense. I wonder...
@silkylove: I'd kill you, your mother, your dogs and your fat aunt Sue with the hair on her upper lip for a GI Joe game. Do it C@C RTS style and i'll kill everyone on your dad's side with my toenail clippings for a taste of it.
As for the movie, if Transformers can be passable, why not GI Joe? When you get past season 1, GI Joe was pretty much a multilingal strike force anyway, much like the UN.
@Misquito: Flint is overlooked because he will always be seen as a poor man's Duke. Even his girlfriend, Lady Jaye was a poor Scarlet replacement. That said, if well done, he can be brought to light.
All the movie really needs is Hawk, Roadblock, Shipwreck, Sgt Slaughter, Duke and Snake Eyes vs all of Cobra and it will be sheer win in my book.
@Foxstar Sixtail: Simply because of the lengths you'd go to to play a GI Joe game, I want to give you a hug.
Ever play the arcade GI Joe? It was awesome. Get MAME and play it!
Why did you post a picture of Morgan Webb?
@Foxstar Sixtail:
Transformers has robots that transform. The effects are the stars of that flick. It doesn't need a plot to remain relevant, just some good CGI. G.I. Joe has to have human characters that have some depth. Good luck with that. The movie will either have to be extremely corny like Team America or they'll have to change it to the point where it will be unrecognizable. Can you honestly imagine Cobra Commander, Destro, Tomax and Xamot in real life being taken seriously?
They might as well throw the Refrigerator Perry in there. He had a G.I. Joe action figure and was on the cartoon. I believe his weapon of choice was a football on a stick:/
I really want an R-rated/M-rated G.I. Joe game and movie where they're still shooting red and blue lasers and limbs are flying everywhere, there are screams filling the halls of Cobra Commander's lair.
Man, that would be amazing.
@Marios_shadow: Hopefully based on the Comic books, not the stupid cartoon. GI Joe was originally a Marvel Comic, and far outlived the cartoon series. It also was violent, they used real guns, and Cobra Commander wasn't a moron.
At least when we play the game, and we can't kill anyone, we'll know that EA stuck to the original material.
Destro: I shot DUKE!
Viper: We've been shooting at duke for 25 years, and we finally killed him?
Destro: No. I said I shot him. He isn't dead. But his forearm is clearly bleeding from my laser grazing his arm. That'll teach duke to roll up his sleeves.
@BigDanG: That would actually kick nine kinds of ass.
God damn it why must my childhood be raped every other fucking day...the movie is the director of Van Helsing and the game is EA...Jesus. Snake Eyes blind yourself a second time to be spared.
O-F*ck! More sub-standard games!
Ok, if this has nothing to do with the movie and is completely based on the cartoon and comics of the 80's????
This would be the most exciting licensed property in YEARS! Soooooooo many characters that would get an instant geek out with just a small cameo ...
Great. My imagination just ruined any possibility of me enjoying this game. Curses!!!!!!!
Curiously, while the prospect of Transformers redux couldn't spur me to anything, this does. Sufficing that they realize what the property is they're working with, I see this working out well, either intentionally or unintentionally.
if it has Stormshadow and Snake Eyes, I'm sold. especially if it has Stormshadow.
@Foxstar Sixtail:
But but... He's the third in command... and ... and... He was used alot in the cartoon and comics... and... and.. He was on family guy... Did you see Duke on family guy giving a PSA? I didn't.
If anything, i think Falcon is a poor man's Flint.
I have very big hopes for a GI Joe movie and game but ultimately I think I know but will suck.
@silkylove: You never read the Marvel Comics run of GI Joe or the re-release that Devils Due did, did you? Joes and Cobras alike died all of the time.
@Kyle81: I'm glad to see you did. Best comic of the 80's.
@Misquito: As Falcon's first real showing was the end of GI Joe being a watchable cartoon, I try to block him out. It's a pity because the toys starting kicking more and more ass (Anyone remember the General toy with it's air powered launched missiles? The USS Flagg that was so big as to need it's own private room to play with it?) but the stories just were suck.
@Guild Navigator Exactly. And I want the sky to be filled with parachutes whenever a plane gets shot down.
get the phuck out of here.....
Hmm. A game, based off a movie, based off of [blank]. Doesn't matter what fills in the blank. When you do too many "based off of..." moments, its bound to suck. Just look at Street Fighter: The Movie: The Arcade Game.
Oh yea, and EA's doing it. I'm in. [/sarcasm]
i dont think this is a good idea. how many transformers games were lackluster? games dont have the feel of cartoon shows or movies, and possibly never will. transformers and g.i. joe were hand in hand in the hearts of americas youth 20 years ago, and now they will be in the pockets of the big boys.. rambles on...
