I love boxing games, I hope this isn't just Fight Night Round 3 with a fur coat.
in.
@Crecente: It looks like it has potential, though I'm a little concerned that it's essentially just a reskinned Fight Night.
You say that like it's a bad thing. I had never been more engaged, in love, and frustrated with a game since Fight Night Round 2, and Round 3 was even better.
I always loved this trailer.
The ending is best ever
Think this video was up on GT Saturday.. But yeah, looks lamo.
I love fight night , so i hope its only a fight night in disguise ( with superpowers )
@kyosen: ?
Ah yes, saw this yesterday. I hope that facial deformation stays in, cos that looks immense. I wonder how much youll get to see it though, if the boxers can punch as fast as generic boxer 1 up there.
oh a new Ready to Rumble game!?!
I saw it on the GT episode you already posted with Kotaku Mc. It looked like it has potential, I hope the gameplay is good or atleast as good as Rocky and Rumble to boxing. Because fight night, as good as it was killed my fingers and hands when playing too long. It looks fun.
It looks cool! I'll get it. I was a fan of fight night...
This will do until they bring out a new Ready to Rumble. I just want to beat Bush instead of Clinton in the new one. Wouldn't mind beating up M.J. again also.
Im curious to see how they do the controls in the game and what the camera angles will be like.
That was a crappy trailer, I hate when they don't show in game footage. There better be a demo.
Looks fun. I've never played any boxing games since Super Punch Out...
Premise looks very promising. I'll be keeping a close eye on this project. I just hope this is going to be spiritual successor of Punch Out.
didn't i already play this game, but it was called something different...
OH YEAH! ready 2 rumble. it was on the 64. why is this one so revolutionary then?
I hope it has the same game play mechanics as Fight Night. Because that game was awesome.
I wonder how they're going to restyle the boxing genre to accommodate the new consumer, who has the attention span of a housefly.
I hope they dont have king hippo....i could never get past that guy.
I'd rather have a true Fight Night sequel than another Ready to Rumble knock off.
Looks like the result of Fight Night and Team Fortress having a rough night of sex.
I'm not a big fan of boxing games, but I like how they have a sense of humor about the genre. The ending is pretty awesome.
Uhm.. from the development team that brought you Fightnight r3? Earth to EA.. you just layed off all the people that made fight night round 3 remember? The one team that made you good money in the last 5 years? Yea.. you closed their studio. Dont believe the hype.
The characters are lacking of... character. I dont know, nothing original here.
I blame Team Fortress 2.
Honestly, I'm moderately excited about this. Somehow, "it's essentially just a reskinned Fight Night" doesn't scare me in the least bit.
This game looks sweet. Its about time we see some games that don't care about HD TVs and focus on just plain fun.
Yea, well done EA. Rip off other peoples ideas again, it's been such a success for you before.
I see Afro Thunder didn't make it. I wonder if he's unlockable.
I seriously doubt it's a reskinned Fight Night. More like a Ready to Rumble ripoff with over the top punches, ridiculous knockouts, etc.
This makes me want to play some R2R 2. Come on, they had both Clintons, Shaq, and Michael Jackson as hidden characters, and a Hulked-Out Michael Buffer served as the final boss. If you didn't enjoy that game at least a little bit, leave Earth.
Has a cartoony Team Fortress 2 feel to it.
I hope this game is basically Mike Tyson's Punch Out but in 3D, it's an instant buy for me if it is. The old NES game still plays well today, but a modern hi-def game with a new cast of crazy characters would be great.
Folks the style of TF2 has been done in other games before TF2.
@photoboy: Hear, Hear! I hope they at least give it a nod if it winds up to be a fight night reskin, like have a fighter with a big outie belly button with an x-bandage over it.
A reskinned Fight Night has to be better than whatever it is that Don King is doing over there on the Wii...
People who keep comparing this to TF2 have never played ready 2 Rumble. TF2 didnt start cartoony graphics in videogames, k?
The facial deformation seems like it would be pretty cool and this way you can't piss off players looking for their favorite boxer to be absent like in Round 3. I hope they don't stray to far away from Fight Night mechanics though.
Looks cool. The trailer grabbed my attention... and I don't like boxing games.
@Brian Crecente: Lamo, as in lame, as in looks like Fight Night reskinned as you said.
@Witzbold:
Of course it has. Even in this very genre. That doesn't mean that TF2 couldn't possibly have had any influence in making it popular again, though.
@Heliophage: Well TF2 isnt exactly popular because of the art style, its more that so many goddamned folks were waiting for the game to come out thats why its popular. ;D
Granted the art style did help keep happy though and it is highly awesome.
@NoBullet: Exactly! Spoken like a true artist.
so its pretty much a fight night meets punch-out
Calling these generic designs copies is a little insulting to TF2.
@Witzbold:
That's true. It was more this in combination with Battlefield that made me think there was a trend.
If they are in fact trying to emulate TF2's popularity, I would hope that they can emulate the countless other facets of the game, apart from the artistic style, that attest to its success.
That is, for what changes actually need to be made. Fight Night Round 3 wasn't a bad game itself, though Battlefield 2142 felt a little familiar.
@NoBullet:
Missed this, and others like it.
I, for one, have played Ready 2 Rumble. I own it for the Dreamcast. You're missing the point I, and possibly other people who made similar comments, were trying to make.
Wow comparing this to TF2? Really?
The trailer is awesome with how short the segment is for power and the music suddenly changing when it reveals ego boxer. Well done trailer in my opinion. Hope it has a training program where you dance like in R2R.
This could be great if the characters are wacky and have very distinct unrealistic fighting maneuvers and styles ala Punch Out. I think that's what they're going for based on the characters shown in the trailer.
reminds me of 'Ready 2 Rumble' on the Dreamcast, so count me 'in' for this one too.
At least they didn't resort to using stereotypes and claiming it was built by a team that was just laid off...
I hate EA.
If this plays like fight night and looks like a punchout /ready 2 rumble game then count me in.
Hey, a re-skinned Fight Night sounds good to me, man.
@PGGB: It was actually on the Dreamcast.
Since Ready to Rumble Boxing and its sequel make up 40% of my Dreamcast game collection, I'm pretty excited for this game.
