1UP recently rounded up all the deets on Resistance 2 and placed them on a mega buffet for Insomniac fanboys to devour. There's a lot of stuff here that I'd either missed or forgotten through eclectic the mixture of endless booze, writing, gaming and $6 burritos with guac that compose my life's opus.
For instance, did you realize that the single-player campaign is pretty much finished, the game's narration is dead, the 8 person campaign multiplayer will support a class system ala Battlefield 2 and Team Fortress, or that Insomniac is doing their damndest to get 60 players on a map at once? If not, you might want to hit up the link for a full refresher course. Because that and a bottle of Cholula will pretty much set you until fall 2008.

Less talk more release dates! :D
cannot wait for this game
i still haven't finished the first one. too many games, too little time
Where the RPGs Sony
Yet another FPS
killzone 2's got some competition. didn't think i would be able to say something like that.
Mark likes his Chipotle...
@ATT: Don't ask Sony ask the Devs....
killzone 2's got some competition. didn't think i would be saying that.
@ATT:
Wait, you DON'T want Insomniac to create yet another fantastic PS3 title? It's not like Sony has any say over what they can or can't make.
It's a pity the controller fails for FPSers.
Knowing Insomniac, it'll be out before Turkey Day :o)
Holy crap, eight player campaign mode with classes? Looking better and better.
@your_can: Works great for me.
This looks amazing. I especially am looking forward to the co-op aspects. The story of the first one was actually quite good for an FPS.
@ATT: They are coming, RPGs have notoriously long development times, and next-gen only extends these times. The system has only been out a year!
@your_can:
Only if you fear anything different and/or wish to perpetuate pointless internet memes.
This is great. I can't wait for this. I really hope it's out by summer, so I can put some good time in it before school starts.
Wilson, I think our lives are eerily similar in many respects. You say eclectic mixture, but I might substitute the word caustic.
So what: Qdoba or Chipotle?
Resistance ROCKS! so I hope Resistance 2 ROCKS HARDER! amen to that brother!
@your_can: Well, i wouldnt say it fails for fps, but it does take a bit of adjusting. I can play TF2 and COD4 without a problem now. I too used to think this would be an issue but it really hasnt. p.s. cant wait for resistance 2. I skipped resistance 1 because i beat it on my friends ps3 before I had one.
My first PS3 game that I'm actually anxious to play!
60 player ONLINE AT ONCE!?!?!?!?!?
Shaping up to be a good year. Haven't played the original but I'll pick it up if I can get it for cheap. Too many other games I need to get at the moment. So far though, this looks to top Killzone 2 for PS3 FPS of the year, since the gameplay so far sounds way better than what's been offered for Killzone 2, which is not much.
@JackTretton: Yeah buddy!
8 player online co-op with unique campaign missions and classes is just about the awesomest thing I've heard.
@JackTretton: During the first Resistance tests they had up to 64 players on supposedly before putting it down to 40 players for release.
It's not really that hard to believe, PC games have had high player counts larger than 60 players already years ago.
@equin0x:
I would only consider Killzone 2 "competition" if they weren't both exclusives for PS3. They aren't really against each other but both great additions to the PS3 library. (hopefully)
@Kj719: Aren't you the CEO of SCEA?
@JackTretton: My last post was adressed to you. Sorry KJ!
After the big letdown of a sci-fi shooter Halo 3 was, I can only hope that this will come up with the goods!
I'm still playing resistance online to this date! It's the game that just keeps giving!
60 player deathmatch yes please
I am really looking forward to this game. I heavily enjoyed Resistance 1 and with everything they're throwing into this game it sounds like it'll be a lot better. I'm loving the 8 player co-op with the classes idea and the separate single player and co-op story lines. It's just incredible stuff coming our way and I can't wait.
@PapaBear434: Very well put! (re: your_can's comment on controls being worthless for FPS')
I'm anxious to play 5 games for the ps3, now with twisted metal..... man... I gonna need a 2nd job to buy all that sweetness.
Resistance used to be the only reason I said I'd buy a ps3 over a wii. Then SSBB shot that all to hell. Now...
*holds his 360 close while staring at Resistance 2 screens* I'm so conflicted!
On a side note this series seems like the best shot sony has at a 'Halo-killer'FPS game. Seriously can't understand why people flock to killzone....
@ATT: if they ever finish White Knight Story or FFXI not too many RPG's to go around yet
@johnnylineup: I'm with you on that one. This game is currently in my "I'll get to it when I get to it" pile. Not that I didn't enjoy it, I just got distracted by other games. I have a hard time focussing.
Is Resistance still worth picking up? I have yet to purchase it and wanted to know if many people are still playing online.
Resistance should be dropping in price in the next few months as Sony reveals their Greatest Hits collection for the PS3 for N. America. I imagine it'll drop to 30-35.
@ATT:
I didn't saw you complained about that in the 360 (LO isn't that good)
I haven't beaten the first one yet...and it was the first PS3 game I bought...over a year ago. I couldn't get past the last level! I guess I should fire it up sometime soon and finally beat it!
I guess this is cool. But as I have yet to purchase a PlayStation 3 or play the first one I cannot get too excited about it.
@ATT: I agree, we need more RPGs. Hopefully White Knight Chronicles will be out soon and Final Fantasy XIII can make it out by the end of the year....I don't even mind if it's only out in Japan by the end of the year, I'd have no problem importing it.
@your_can:
MOUSE/KEYBOARD that means something for you?
How do FPS work on the PC anyway? It seems like it requires little skill due to their point and click to shoot nature. I am sure that I am wrong though.
@tamago007: Today was bad enough for me! Turok, The Club, Devil May Cry, and Conflict: Denied Ops! madness. I have no more pennies...
I'm so excited
And I just can't hide it
I'm about to lose control
And I think I like it
Had to be done.
@Rurik: I've got that song stuck in my head now! I hate you! (JOKE! spread the love)
@Pai Pai Master: Uh, yes it is. They own Insomniac. But I don't know how well an Insomniac-designed RPG would work, anyway.
@Rurik: No it didn't.
whould'nt it make sense to accomodate 64 players online, since you could then have 8 teams of 8? I bet it end be 48 players. then you could have 3 teams of 8 against another 3 teams of 8. that would be sweet, totally chaotic yet semi organized battles.
@ATT: the RPG? what game is that?
@Stormrider: They don't "own" Insomniac....
@matteblender: Resistance devs to MATTEBLENDER "We can have 64 player games sir. Oh here is the Moon on a stick you ordered!"
I'm sure it won't make that much of a difference.
Amen
this game will OWN!!
i am SOOO getting it on the release date
BWAHAHAHAHa cannot wait...game will be amazing
so lookn' fwd to this. thoroughly enjoyed the first, on and off-line. underated to be sure, but this second will definitely live up to expectations
@slomo788: Shhh!!!
