Regarding our earlier Mario Kart Wii post, here are the images from Japanese game magazine Famitsu. It confirms earlier rumblings about the 16 tracks, 12 person Wi-Fi battles and Mii racing. This should certainly helps bring credibility to that April 10th Japan release date!

Racing against 12 other people while throwing bannanas and turtle shells at each other will be chaos!!!
Those look nice :)
I want this game a lot, I missed Mario Kart. I did not know they added bikes, cool :P
Does the game come with Wifi?
@Irenicus-the one and only: Yeah. And it has no friend codes (well, it has that random match thing)
@Ryumeka: Sweet :) Now I really want this game. I'm still undecided on the wheel though :P
Racing as Mii's??
Looks passable graphically (story of Wii's life) but Mario Kart has always been fun. I just hope they don't try to force waggle on us too much (story of Wii's life).
16 total tracks? O.O
@Irenicus-the one and only:
Yes, it has wifi.
Even though it should of stayed with karts only, adding in motorcycles should add an interesting twist to things. Mii racing with my Hitler Mii should be funny too. =)
I don't like the inclusion of tricks. Not that I've seen any gameplay of it, it just sounds like it's steering (lol) off the frantic action of Mario Kart. DRIVE ITEM SMASH ITEM.
I don't want to have to do a little spinamajig in midair.
And keep it with karts. Are Nintendo trying to make this not a rehash by adding bikes? INNOVASHUN!
[:
Looks cool though I hope I dont have to play with motion control or the motorcycles. I really hope the online does something about people quitting in the middle of a race that really killed the fun for the DS version.
@Deadeyereborn: Oh yes. And motion play. I don't really like the Wii motion for steering. It can be quite unresponsive, and I don't like holding it in midair.
Is there no confirmation for nunchuck/GC controller?
@SanjiX: lol I like that they add bikes, will have to see how they drive but the idea I like and the Mii's driving.
@Ryumeka: Motion steering bugs me It just dont like it at all.
@Irenicus-the one and only: Miis driving would be sweet I would play as Hitler out run everyone!
I want MORE than 16 tracks for online, waaaaaaah!
Also can't you guys spring for a scanner? It'll give us better pics than taking it with a camera, unless there's something else that stops you from scanning the mag.
Has the complete roster of racers been announced for this Mario Kart? Any chance we'll see Rosalina from SMG (for some feisty Peach v Rosalina action on the track) or maybe even some SSBB characters popping up? With the massive success of that one you'd think Nintendo might want to spread it out to some of their other titles...Solid Snake driving a kart would be so badass and so embarrassing at the same time.
@RYUMEKA:
Well Snowboard Kids on the 64 had you pulling off tricks as well as racing against a bunch of oddball characters whilst kicking the crap out of them with cool weapons (damn you stupid parachute!). So it could work in Mario Kart; depends on how it's done.
@Deadeyereborn: Whats up with people wanting to play Hitler? :(
Ugh. The Mii being integrated into games is at the top of my list of problems I have with Nintendo right now.
@Irenicus-the one and only:
It's better than driving next to a penis.
@pocster: Super Smash Kart? I think it would take away from the novelty that is Super Smash Bros. if Nintendo started treating every franchise they have as a game crossover arena.
Is it just me or are the graphics no better than Mario Kart Double Dash on the GC?
Maybe they should get Namco on this project. Mario Kart Arcade GP was fun.
@sUKi: lol Atleast he looks funny as a Mii :P
There are so many cool Mii's I seen in Mii voting channel, could be fun online :D
@jive238: The images are from Jeux France. Kotaku had nothing to do with taking them.
@KJA:
That's why Mario Kart is releasing so early ;o.
@Irenicus-the one and only:
as long as I don't see a Dancing mii after each race, then i'm game :D
@silentbobfan: The mii not being integrated into enough games is my problem. Everyone I know who has played on the Wii wants more things to do with their Mii, what's your problem with them?
@DrFresh: I agree.
@sUKi: I love it in Mario & Sonic :D
@Irenicus-the one and only:
I HAD to youtube it to see this myself xD but omg. they have proper arms and legs! SO now i don't have to worry about just balls holding the wheel in Mario Kart!
@sUKi: :)
Mario & Sonic is an awsome game! :D
I actually enjoy it.
Why add cycles? I thought it was a mistake in PGR4 and I think it is a mistake here as well.
There's.... tricks?
Um, I don't like the sound of it already.
@captain_dl: You don't have to use the cycles.
@Xeneizes: I'm sure you can ignore the tricks if you need to.
@pocster: Mario Kart has always been Mario characters, SSB is the crossover love.
@Foxstar Sixtail: I looked at this game on YouTube, and it shows characters doing tricks for boost.
This system works fine for other games, but not for Mario Kart. I can't see this working that great... then again, I might play it and love it. Who knows?
@sUKi: In one of the pictures, it says 16 new tracks as well as 16 "remake" tracks, for a total of 32 tracks.
This. Looks. Good.
Excitetruck was joyous, if they can cross that thrill with MK this could be immense.
@KJA: Did you see some other screenshots? Because from the blurry photos linked here I couldn't have told you whether it looks better or worse than the DS version, forget the GC comparisons... Hell it could be PS3-level and I wouldn't be able to tell from those screens...
Of course maybe there are better screenshots elsewhere. Link?
Mark Rein looks like my uncle Ronnie.
@ethic: oh shit wrong tab! my bad.
I'm still not excited about this game yet. But rarely does a Mario Kart game excite me until I actually play it. It just looks really 'meh' in shots. Even Peach sticking the booty out on a motorcycle and Mario poppin' a wheelie aren't doing anything for me.
Online play in this game should be cool, but once again Nintendo will probably dampen it with their 'NO COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER, NO WAY, NO HOW' policy.
My problem with the boosts was that it made it impossible to play with anyone else. Some may enjoy a healthy 45 sec lead, but it gets dull pretty fast. Online will look like 2 races - those who can pull off the tricks every (twitch) second, and everyone else.
@boneil: Thank you for clearing that up, I feel better now, stil I'm gonna try this before I buy it, I know it's Ninty doing this, but anyone can mess up motion control
@Irenicus-the one and only: it beats playing as Jesus.
:p
To those complaining about graphics, Nintendo always goes for simple graphics techniques.
@AleeYun: There's simple and then there's a little ragged. Mario Kart Wii looks no better than Double dash!! and it doesn't even look as good as Arcade GP 1 or 2. All of the characters have this specular shine about them and I can see the jagged edges of Luigi's nose from that picture and it's not even a scan or on a TV in front of me. I'm not expecting this game to look like Super Mario Galaxy (though that would be awesome), but a little more polish on the character models would not hurt. The courses look really cool, characteristic and colourful, but the character models look bland.
I heard that they may add Gamecube Controller support as well.
SCORE!!
This game is why I bought a Wii. I cant wait
The wheel didn't make that big of a difference in excite truck.. but in Need for Speed Pro Street it makes driving 140mph 300% times easier!
Alternate vehicles have been in mariokart ds, this is not new, why are people getting crazy. And everyone knows magazine pics are crap, you have to actually experience it. I have a game informer magazine that has supermariogalaxy looking like a playstation game.
I'm really worried about this game. All the info that we get is nothing new. And I am not a fan of the motion control, I hope this is an option and not definite.
Yeah, I hope the motion control is optional...it looks like it couldn't possibly be very accurate, seeing as how the Wiimote has a crappy gyroscope.
Only 16 tracks again? Sorry but that's terribly low number! Hell, even the SNES Mario Kart had more tracks (not to mention the GBA and DS version too).
They should put all the tracks from the previous Mario kart games. Including Wario's Stadium (Nintendo 64) which is my favorite....
But I hope this game still fun!!!
Considering how much buildup there was for galaxy and brawl, that theyre just kinda sneaking this game in quietly does not bode well for quality at all. Seems like its just going to be another rehash with minimal waggle enhancements, then try to sell it based on online, just like the ds game.
