First 4 Figures, creators of some of the most amazing Zelda, Metroid, and Transformers collectible statues you're likely to find, have just announced an agreement with Jetix Consumer Products to produce viynl figures and statues based off of the 'classic version' of Sonic the Hedgehog. The first series of 4 to 5 inch figures is slated for July 2008 release, with the lineup - as pictured above - featuring Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Depending on where they draw the line with 'classic' Sonic, there might not be all that many more in the pipe. I mean, what's left? Robotnik? Maybe some mechanical animals? As far as I am concerned, vinyl Sonic figures are a dime a dozen anyway. I'm holding out to see what they do in the statue department.

Knuckles is planning... something...
I'm not sure why, but every time I see Tails I get really pissed off!
Hey cool they used the old school Sonic.
@yanya: Nah, hes just surprised that someone took notice of him.
I must admit that is the Sonic I like to remember.
Why do I like Tails? lol.. all empirical data states I should not.
Awesome, they got Tails just right. Tails always looked great in the older games, but when illustrated...he look fat and clunky.
@Cappy: He ruined the games for you too?
@yanya:
I agree. He looks much too ominous in the dark. Like the Smoking Man except bright red and with spikes on his hands. In the end, hardly at all like the Smoking Man, I guess.
Amazing. I love the good 'ol sonic. Reminds me of the good 'ol days when sonic games were fun.
@n/a: That legacy ended with the arrival of Sonic 3D Blast.
Sweet, I love the classic style. It adds so much more awesome to it.
Awwwwww, look at Miles. So cute!
If there's any Knuckles involved, it's not classic enough, IMO. Tails is pushing it.
At least they got Sonic right, though.
If we're lucky, maybe they'll throw in Chao...
@0x15e: How are Sonic II and III not considered classic at this point?
Knuckles looks a lot more detailed than the other two though, may just be their form.
Its time for Sega to take note and be inspired by Classic Sonic themselves.
Now that's the Sonic i'm talking about..not that crazy anime-steroid mecha crap
WOAH!!! They look amazing!! I want I want I want I want I want!!!!
They have the original and classic feeling to it! Amazing!
@serotoninzero: It's not so much the games that aren't classic. It's the fact that Tails and Knuckles represent the beginning of Sega's trend of introducing more characters with each new game that eventually contributed to the series' ruin.
Tails I can deal with for the most part but Knuckles / Sonic 3 was the first time I saw a Sonic game where I thought "ok, WTF does this guy have to do with anything?"
Then again, maybe I'm the only person who never cared about playing as Knuckles. Or Tails. My opinion was always "it's a Sonic game, why would I want to play as these other guys?"
Tails looks like he has downs
Holy crap, these look awesome! Sonic, Tails, Knux, my old buddies! Do want!
A Metal Sonic (Sonic CD) would be nice.
COOL! They used classic stumpy black eyed doesn't even has to try to be cool Sonic instead of the gay lame tries to hard to be gay green eyed shitty overenthusiastic homosexually square dialogue and faggy choice in shitty friends Sonic!
Buying these for damn sure. Classic Sonic FTW.
@Yusuke: oh god yes. sonic, metal sonic, and robotnik + eggmobile. a trifecta of win
@0x15e:
Really? I thought Knuckles was a cool character to pay in (I think this was boosted by the sexiness of the Sonic and 3 Knuckles booster cartridge or whatever you called it)... It was untill they introduced shitty friends like Rogue, Shadow, Amy and Big the Cat (and the new Sonic Adventure art style) when sonic started to suck.
@jkingsowner: Well yeah, things definitely started to suck then. It was just that it started way before that.
Maybe I'm just that old. School. Old-school. Yeah, that's it. Get off my lawn and all that. :)
@jkingsowner: Amy? Someone hasn't played his Sonic titles. Amy was introduced in Sonic CD waaaay back in 1993.
In fact, I see her and Robotnik being the only two figurines they could add to this set unless they want to delve into the obscure - Nack the Weasel/Fang the Sniper, Ray the Squirrel and Mighty/Espio/Vector/Charmy spring to mind, though Nack & Ray are more of an obscurity than the others.
@Yusuke: Am I the only one that hates Sonic CD?
And yes, the old Sonic is quite saucy.
Hooray for classic Sonic figs! These bring up memories of the days before Sonic Team destroyed their namesake franchise.
@Yeux de nouilles: No, you are not. I also, to this day, cannot understand how it can be seen as even a remotely good Sonic game. Maybe if it had come out *before* Sonic 2. Maybe. Though let's be honest; Sonic doesn't have too many good games to his name anymore. The latest one was... Smash Bros. Brawl. =)
Bring back classic sonic, kill off this new, bogus green eyed "speed's my game" infidel!
Wow, nice, I love the fact that they are using the classic style, thats what I prefer. I'll be sure to get my hands on those eventually.
@Yeux de nouilles: I used to be in the same boat. I later found a cheap copy of the Mega CD version, and I now love the game as much as 1, 2 3 and Knuckles.
My guess is that the next line-up will see classic Eggman (Robotnik), Classic Amy (Quills instead of hair), and classic Metal Sonic (Sonic CD), oh and probably another, more updated Sonic (Sonic 3).
Tails looks really happy. Sonic probably just whipped it out.
@ArnoldRimmersGardenStrimmer: He sure made Chaos Emerald collecting in Sonic 2 much harder for me. D:
Knuckles was a great enemy in Sonic 3. He was mysterious and seemed to be a rival to Sonic. Once her turned into a good game, Sonic Team turned him into a Hallmark card. Knuckles should stay out of game play and be mysterious and mischievous.
You mean... based on Sonic... back when Sonic.. was good?
OMG WANT!
Now this is the Sonic style i like!
I approve of these statues, even though I probably won't approve of their prices.
these look great.. i might get em.. ive always thought sonic was cooler without greeneyes and a voice. and you folks are crazy.. sonic cd is the best sonic ever... and id say that all the official titles upto/including adventure are great. and like most sonic fans say.. the portable games have been good.. i think rush adventure is the best yet.
They should releasestatues of the Archie comic series. I can't be the only one who read them. I'd love to have a Bunnie Rabbot. :D
@BlueFiberOptics: That role's been usurped by Shadow the Hedgehog. He's now the mysterious and ominous character who you can't play as...oh, wait.
holy crap! im soooo getting these!
Classic Sonic, Tails and Knuckles? DO WANT!
Shadow and shitty friends can go choke on a cock for all I care.
They look absolutely great. This is exactly the black-eyed-non-talking Sonic I've always loved.
wow, those actually all look really great, and like the genesis era of when they were cool. well done!
They really should do Eggman ASAP, complete with the black pants and red shirt with two fang-like yellow patterns.
Also I still consider Knux part of the "classic" character group, as well as Metal Sonic and Amy. Although cool Chaotix came a bit late and are still pretty obscure, and Big, Cream, and Rouge push it a bit too far (though I do like Blaze the Cat.)
No green irises on Sonic = A very, very happy Konamunist :D
Now these are the versions of Sonic & friends that look the way they're supposed to. The newer versions (with the long limbs and etc.) look like crap. I think the next major Sonic game for a home console should be a complete reboot of the series and feature a Sonic of old with compelling, superspeed gameplay. Perhaps the only way to achieve that realistically would be to hand over Sonic to a completely fresh development team. You know I'm right.
As an old school Sonic fan since I was a little kid, I MUST have these.
They should do a gold version
Come on, they HAVE to make Amy, Robotnik, Metal Sonic, Silver Sonic, and evolved Metal Sonic (Sonic 3K)
Actually, forget Amy, but they have to do the rest
How much for these ?
I NEED these. I love the old look of them.
@Ultrasinc:
I would kill for a Mecha Sonic figurine.
Sonic looks adorable.
Sonic looks awesome! I love the contrast between this one and new sonic look, both work well for me.
Hey, some of the new games aren't THAT bad. Yes they don't stand up to the classics and there's a couple real stinkers (Sonic 360, Shadow the Hedgehog), but Sonic Rush is old-school awesome and Secret Rings is a step in the right direction, as well as being one of the few third-party Wii games that actually has some effort put into it. Hell, it's got regular gameplay AND pretty much a Sonic version of the whole Mario Party game tacked on.
Okay, enough defending, I'll get hammered again. These look nice. Still no match for the giant plushies from Segaworld I've seen on Ebay every now and again...
That Knuckles is badass. Knuckles has been a favorite of mine since Sonic 3 came out eons ago. I should definitely get it.
one word - SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!!! <333333 definitely need to add Amy and Metaru (Metal Sonic) a la sonic CD and eggman. A Death Egg, Sonic F, and maybe even Angel Island would be sweet little additions to the statue sets.
@sictransitgloria: I hope they never touch the Archie comic. Ever. That rolling bucket of failure is one of the biggest reasons Sonic is ass, along with it's completely moron filled furry fanbase.
I'm in love!
Classic Sonic IMO is the real Sonic. No that Xtreme redesign.
I admit these are so far the best looking figurines I
have seen currently. Very classic and original. I hope
First 4 decides to to make a couple more figurines of
some of the classic enemies from the first 3 original games. A rendered addition of Dr.Robotnik would be great as well. I hope thats it too.
@Cappy:
yeah because he always fucks you up when you are trying to beat robotnik. you jump in the air to attack robotnik and tails catches you before your attack lands. I still love tails though lol.
BTW i'm getting the sonic one when they come out.
