Kotaku is not, typically, a place of personal announcements, but I've long been a big fan of both Alice Taylor and Corey Doctorow's work. In fact, Alice still irregularly contributed to Kotaku. So I think it's fair to show off their latest endeavor: Poesy Emmeline Fibonacci Nautilus Taylor Doctorow, born 9 pounds, six ounces at home in a pool in London. Now to convince Alice to write some more bits for us in her "free time". That free time thing always cracks me up. Congrats guys!

Awwww.
Aww. Lookie the little baby.
6 names. Damn.
Cute kid though. Very cute.
Wonderful news, adorable baby :D
Poesy Emmeline Fibonacci Nautilus Taylor Doctorow???
good lord....my hand would be numb by the time i get to Nautilus everytime i write a check....
Congrats! Kiss your sleep goodbye.
@icepick314: Yeah, I can see her hating her parents for that.
Very Cute! Now they can go for the 1000 poopy diaper and 500 spit-up achievements...
Dawww, the cheeks!
Cute baby!...strange blanket...
Congrats!
Where did they get that blanket?! I must have one.
What a great name! Congrats on the new baby!
Poesy Emmeline Fibonacci Nautilus Taylor Doctorow? Really?
... They do realize they aren't supposed to use ALL the names the come up with... right?
any kid named Fibonacci is destined to be awesome. congrats!
Talk about being born into the internet age :)
Grats to the baby!
I feel like an idiot after every time I go all warm and fuzzy after seeing a baby. I keep thinking I've squashed all these "emotions" with years of numbing alcohol and desensitizing videogames. Alas, the biological imperative prevails once again.
Congrats, cool blanket too.
Very geek name. Hope looks cool in the future (in 17 years).
But I guest If you born this day and age, all the cool and short names, like "Tei", are already taken.
After my dad had to fill out military paperwork for years, he vowed to name me something short; I ended up with "Christopher" because he forgot about that short thing. Let's hope that she never has to buy a house or sign a check or anything. The benefit of a long name is that I can always find my name easily in a list of names, like graduation lists.
I will call my first born ';DROP TABLE users---
fibonnaci?? for realz?? having just watched 'pi' recently, that excites me to no end. :D
congrats!
Adorable! Fibonacci is a cool name, too. Gonna have to steal that one for my next baby, 112358.
@rawg: ... make that 0112358
I found the blanket but it's sold out :'(
that is far too many names for any single person...but the baby is cute...congratz on the new bundle of poo ;)
That's the most overblown, most pretentious name I've ever seen in all my relatively short life.
So it is really not "posey" like the flower, but in fact "poesy" like the study of poetry and poetics? Good grief. That's even worse.
@Pope John Peeps II: Agreed. Cute baby, but annoying and huffy name. Kid will hate the parents.
@Pope John Peeps II: The name helps dictate the kid's personality in my opinion.
So at least the kid ain't named Candi. With an I.

@Pope John Peeps II: Really, talk about trying hard.
Wonderful! Congratulations to the happy parents on bringing a new gamer into our world.
Aww, I love babies. They're delicious!
I also love that blanket
at least they didn't call it Apple.
Poesy Emmeline Fibonacci Nautilus Taylor Doctorow? Why doing such thing to a kid? Why?
Yikes. I don't know what this weird name fad is amongst us young folk, but christ I wish it would stop. >_<
Wow, that name is...
I mean, it's quite...
...it certainly is a name.
@tei: lol! good thing that query didn't work here or we'd all be screwed. hooray for injection attacks.
i expect to see a nobel peace prize winner in literature for a poem about mollusks and their shells.
Anyone born in London is automatically eligible for LEGEND status. Congrats Alice & Corey, and welcome to the fold, Posey. ;)
I think I'll take Fibonacci Nautilus over... blanket or moon unit any day.
@Player2: "Kotaku is not, typically, a place of personal announcements"
Typically. This announcement seems quite atypical, no?
Can't be an Alice contribution -- didn't go up in the middle of the night.
(I suppose the "Alice posts at crazy England times" jokes don't ring as true since the Kotaku Worldwide 24-hour Cycle movement began. But hey: nostalgia!)
'grats, Alice.
Cory Doctorow (He's not really a doctor? Ow!) and Kotaku's own Alice (well, they don't really own her. She's not on a leash or something, like Plunkett) got busy?? Who'd a known! That baby must be the epitome of geekdom! Our very own geek messiah! Did an 8-bit star shine high in the skies? Were the parents visited by three kings (Bill, Iwata and Kaz)?
@tei: AHAHA!! Awesome! :)
Still, that's an terrible name!
I think the kid's first name should be "Doctor".
I love the blanket, lol
Cute kid, congrats to the couple :)
Yeah, 'dorable baby.
But I concur, ridiculous name. This one girl I knew, back when I was an anime otaku person (clean almost 3 years) wanted to name her kids Ender (based off the book Ender's Game from Orson Scott Card), and Ruecian, (Rue for short)
I understand some cultures tend to carry on the traditional stream of names that, well, many names of which have survived thousands of years. But, you know...remember back in the 60's and whatnot? My aunt knows somebody named Sunshine.
I'm not trying to be overly conservative with the naming field, but naming your kids off of nouns and other assortments of words (Justice, Sunshine, etc...) is bleh.
My opinion. Take it or leave it.
.... just make sure the 360 is set horizontal.
@Setzer IIDX: Ha. You really think so?
Then I'm naming my kid "Handsome Springsteen Hemingway Richboy Nobel Novelist"
It's only about 8% less pretentious than "Fibonnacci Nautilus" and nets me a better kid.
Thats going to be a bitch whenever the kid has to sign something.
Seriously Congrats though.
I was thinking how this is an odd (albeit, cool) name, but I just remembered, my friend named her son Oak Tree. I think people call him Oakie.
I saw this on Alice's Wonderland blog, and only then figured out that she and Cory "boing boing" Doctorow were married. They kept that one really quiet!
Best baby name and blanket ever!
Worst baby name and blanket ever. I like skulls as the next guy (maybe more!). But babies and skulls don't mix. Also, that name is going to make their child put them in a nursing home when they're 45. Or hire a hitman. Or both.
