Gaara. Sandy=Gaara. And yes, the game is looking quite nice so far! ^^
Am i the only person who doesn't own a DS and doesn't really know what or who Naruto is?
Naruto is the New Sensation thats sweeping the Nation
@kingdavid73: Maybe.
@kingdavid73: Yes.
they are fighting on an infinite arena floor against a non-approachable horizon...
how existential
@kingdavid73: At least out of the people who read/post at this site, yes.
@kingdavid73: i am with you, all i know about naruto is they have like, giant ass ninja stars. i think
I'm sorry, but.. the game looks like what the original Tekken or Virtua Fighter would look like with Naruto characters. After being spoiled by the next gen Naruto, I'm certainly not going to run out and purchase my copy of this game. They're all the same, anyway. Play one, you've played 'em all.
@HawaiianActor:
lol, at least i'm not alone. I mean, I've seen stuff about it, but i've never been in contact with the apparently common "Naruto" specimine
@Kado: Don't push him. His name is Sandy untill futher notice get it right.
The game LOOKS good, but the fighting mechanics look way to bland. Someone needs to be working on porting Jump Super Stars.
@kingdavid73:
Naruto basically has the same blue balls buildup structure as Dragon Ball..
"I am not strong enough, i must train and reach the next level even though there will be a mysterious boss guy that will be stronger than me and appear out of no where by the time i hit that level. And then i'll train some more."
addittionally, they totally water down the meaning of the word NINJA by applying it to any moron with a head band who can throw a punch.
Meh, I wont buy it, but at least it seems like fighting games are finally getting better on handhelds
@kingdavid73: There's a blaze orange ninja involved, that's about all I've gathered. I do own a DS, though.
@Xamot:
Thanks. That might be a little more helpful if I'd ever seen Dragon Ball, but I get the gist of it. I'm not a big anime fan. I like some of the movies that everyone agrees are classics, but I'm not a big fan of anime shows. I like Howl's Moving Castle.
@Sparx88: Tekken DR, Guilty Gear, Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, etc were all good on the PSP.
@Xamot:
lol, when you put it that way it makes sense, but at least most of Naruto's battles can be over with in one episode. Plus the more key battles can end about a good 3-4 episodes quicker and they actually fight while doing flashbacks opposed to the DBZ style of throw a punch, talk for 2 episodes, throw another punch, talk some more, etc...
@Kyle81:
Well I may be a Sony guy when it comes to consoles, but when it comes to handhelds I go Nintendo. But with the PSP picking up steam I may switch sides next generation. Dissidia is really making me think hard about it now.
@kingdavid73: I like some of the movies that everyone agrees are classics, but I'm not a big fan of anime shows. I like Howl's Moving Castle.
Yeah, stick with the sweeping epics... way better storylines anyways. I'm not knocking japanese kid's cartoons, but their plots seem to revolve around trite life lessons like loyalty, friendship, honesty, and persistence.... at times they can feel condescending and preechy
@Xamot:
Exactly
How is this show still going on?
@Sparx88: Then their was the whole training saga that culminated in the fighting tournament. Gaara vs. Rock Lee was my favorite fight in anime. Not sure how they neutered it for the US since I've only watched the fan-subs...after what I read about the US version, I refuse to watch it. Need to get the uncensored boxed sets that they (mercifully) released.
@Kyle81:
I wonder the same thing about Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh
I know what Naruto is and i know there are much, Much, MUCH (third time for emphasis) better Anime series out there. Seems though others have not been enlightened to this fact. Example them shamelessly stealing other shows animated fight scenes --> [i244.photobucket.com] (Its an animated gif)
@Thanatos-:
wow...
Psh...The 4th fighting game for the GC in Japan was by far the smoothest. Like liquid sex on wheels.
@KaneTaker:
It was a good fight, but I think the battle where Rock Lee goes all drunken master during the Sasuke rescue mission is even better, and funny to boot!
@Xamot:
This is hardly the truth. Even the current most powerful character has been know for some time even if it's been kept secret for the most part. There is no "Super Sayian" powers in this anime/manga... all super power comes with an exacting price to the user. The only real thing in common between the two are the fact that Naruto and Goku are both at, their cores, basic shonen main characters. As for the game, I think that it has potential, but it does look bland compaired to the console fighting versions.
So Gaara uses normal punches and kicks as his main attacks? Hey don´t they make it a bit like the original manga, where he almost never moves his body and uses sand to attack? It´s not that hard, just make the animations like darkstalkers and the damage bar like a normal punch in order to make it with a normal game balance.
But instead you put all the characters devoid of personalities and like a virtua fighter with customized a textures and 3d models.. tsk.
If you really want naruto on a handheld, get the PSP version. Naruto is, to quote Thanatos: much, Much, MUCH (third time for emphasis) on the PSP.
@Thanatos-: Never noticed that before.
@kingdavid73: There is another one floating around but i cant seem to find it right now.
I hope the folks at Namco are watching these videos and remembering that Soul Blade, Soul Calibur (arcade version), Tekken 1-3, or Tekken Tag Tournament (arcade version) would all work just fine on the DS.
Oh, and Sega...what a perfect time to port Virtua Fighter 1, 2, Fighting Vipers, or Fighters Megamix to the DS.
Battle Arena Toshinden would be nice as well...part 2 ideally. Or Rival Schools...
Fuck! Come to think of it the DS is getting the royal screw job when it comes to 32-bit era 3D fighters. Christ, it doesn't even have a Smash Bros. title.
Shenanigans I say!
@Thanatos-: No f**king way man.
The game looks awfully bland and like Virtua Fighter dressed as "ninjas" that can do gravity defying techniques... like trapeze artist.
@kingdavid73: that's based on a really good english book of the same name.
lets see some love for Shaman King. it had the same character build-up draw that a show like Naruto or DBZ has, except it happened a lot faster and actually had an cool story, no long drawn-out staring contests that last over the course of 3 episodes, and an actual ending. i think a Shaman King game (okay, JUS has shaman king characters, but c'mon) would be pretty awesome.
@kingdavid73: probably. you're not alone on the naruto thing though - I know of at least one other person out of that loop.
@Sparx88: Have not watched that far! Have to get caught up.
@underscore: Shaman King is EXCELLENT. While the US translation is good, the US voice work is EFFING TERRIBLE!
I'd really love a fighter for ds that isn't based on an anime. Bleach and Naruto are fine, but I'd still rather have Street Fighter. C'mon capcom, you made it for the gba and that didn't even have six button.
@KaneTaker:
Well I've only seen that far because I do watch the English dubbed version on Cartoon Network. While I do prefer fansubs for the most part I dont get hung up on little things like that. Besides, neither side really gets it right. Take Full Metal Alchemist for example. In Japan Edward Elric is too high pitched and in the US he's too mature. There's a lot of things you have to take with a grain of salt.
But I do applaud you for sticking to your guns and having your own moral agenda.
The creator of Naruto was very inspired by Dragon Ball Z, you can easily see it in all of his characters and colors.
Naruto = new DBZ! but it's actually better.
How can you not like Rock Lee? Rock Lee kicks ass!
One piece is the greatest anime that ever has or will be. Unfortunately it has been horribly represented game wise and by that horrible old dub. The new dub is far better, but your still better off with fansubs in my opinion.
I would be more interested in a Naruto adventure game then this for DS. Tekken was good on psp but I have no interest in a fighting game for the DS.
There is only one anime that needs a fighting game.
Transformers.
@Thanatos-:
Much better anime? You state that as fact when it's an opinion. It is not incorrect depending on the person you ask and personally I prefer the manga to the anime, but not everyone has access to jems like Bitter Virgin or Shamo... Now Shamo that could make an interesting game... or a good Berserk game I think the PS3 and 360 are up to doing justice to that manga.
@KaneTaker:
Best voice work in english ever was Fruit Baskets by Funimation... they got the characters down so well it blew the Japanese voices out of the water.
@CaptLtrl:
I never could get into One Piece... yeah I've only heard bad things about the game. It would probably do better as some other genre then fighting.
@Thanatos-: Oh my god, that's almost as good as the mp3 where they sync up two of Nickelback's old songs together.
Props on the reference to one of the best anime's out there (at least in my opinion).
