What would a day on Kotaku be without the obligatory Super Smash Bros. post? Not being one to fly in the face of tradition, I bring you these nice quality videos of a few fights for your perusal courtesy Gametrailers.com. Displayed above we have Luigi vs Diddy Kong on the Luigi's Mansion stage. The detail in the mansion looks great and I look forward to playing on this stage a lot. After the jump you can check out Solid Snake vs Pit and Bowser vs Ness.

Oh God it looks so good, why tease us with it though?
I'm in the UK, it wont be out here for months..
Snake's Final Smash is surreal!
We've gone into full-on spoiler mode now.
wow.. i <3 brawl
Most impressed with Solid Snake.
Snake's final smash is awesome.
I'm glad that they threw some Luigi's Mansion in there, I loved that game. It's up there with Ico and Devil May Cry as one of the best games to play through over a weekend.
Dam this looks so much better than i expected!
Just got to sit tight and wait for my game to arrive in the next two weeks, i think my purchase of a Japanese's Wii has payed off as i live in the UK and don't see it coming anytime soon over here!
Luigis mansion looks great :)
Oh and I'm falling more in love with Snake all the time, I think he will be my "main".
@blackadvent: I never understood fighting games and spoilers, meh. I don't feel "spoiled"!
Solid Snake comeback ftw. I'm a little disappointed that the stage music is something that sounds very MGS4 instead of the MGS1 boss fight music, since his stage is Shadow Moses.
After seeing these, im actually gonna be picking this up when it comes out looks pretty damn good. I only played the N64 one.
@BryanGuitarDude: Yeah I only played the first one too.
@Irenicus-the one and only:
same here. I mean, it's a fighting game. You're going to get the full roster if you want to play anyway.
also, super smash bros "Battle" misprint, or just meaning "battle gameplay of super smash bros?" odd either way.
@blackadvent: o_O What? Spoilers? Where?
Gameplay looks as twisted as always. You can barely tell your characters what to do, but with four players, chaos and entertainment is way over the chart.
AH THERE NEEDS TO BE A PERIOD AFTER "battle", WANT EDIT BUTTON.
this game reminds me more of the 64 version than the cube version, in that when you hit someone, theres that momentary freeze-frame before they go flying.
also the sound effects in these clips are very different from the cube version. especially noticeable in pit's and bowser's moves.
I personally didn't see much of Snake, he won because he got the smash ball at the end BIG WOOP but his final smash is kool. The Ness and Bowser fight was really boring cause it was really one sided lol. The best fight I have to say was the Diddy Kong and Luigi fight, I really underestimated Diddy lol he may be one of my top 3 lol.
I like that fact that you can destroy the platforms in luigi's mansion. I hope alot more stages are like this.
Is it just me or does the game seem to be getting less and less spectacular?
I blame the slow acting players.
Is it just me or do all the stages look a bit smaller and simpler than what we had on the GC? The most complicated one here is the Ness stage, and that's FROM the GC release. Where is our sprawling Hyrule?
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2:
I blame the same game every iteration.
@albo: Agreed.
I dunno whats up here. I played some Melee today and it's off the charts in terms of sheer mania. These clips are very sober by comparison.
@GUNDAM-RX-78-2: Agreed.
Looks like a lot of the stages are just a platform flying through some themed space. Lame. My favorite stages in Melee are Hyrule temple, Mushroom kingdom, Termina and Corneria. The more complex it is to navigate the more tactical the gameplay becomes. If it's just a flat plate like Fountain of dreams there's really only so much you can do.
@BryanGuitarDude: You missed out, Melee was un fucking believable compared to the N64 version. Next to Street Fighter 3.3, it's my favorite fighting game ever made.
@EnigmaNemesis: Eh. It's the nature of fighters. Most all fighting games seem to go through the motions. They give you the original. If the fighting system is good (or the game becomes popular) you usually just get more fighters/levels in the next iteration. Then more options as you go into the sequels. If the fighting system is poor (or just not popular enough) you get an overhaul of the fighting style or some addition to it. Or, you get huge tit physics a la DoA, to give you something to look at when you stop caring about the terrible gameplay, I guess.
@Sunjammer:
Sakurai stated in Iwata Asks that he did that on purpose, that he wanted the players to create the crazier stages on their own.
If you wnt Hyrule, look at New Pork City.
also, that boozer was not very kute at all :(
@NPlace: I agree. I think something more like this would be better.

@Ampillion : Now with 50% more LJ gaming blog.:
Thus why all fighters bore me now, and I don't play them anymore.
:-/
Very impressed with Diddy.
@NPlace: I don't think that was actually the stage music, I think that was just something game trailers threw in there. Even so, there are multiple songs per stage I believe so I believe there is an original MGS one.
@Gundam, you're gonna have to watch the wifiwars clips if you wanna see some good down-n-dirty 1v1 action =]
or at least the makings of the beginnings of some faster responsed *read non-noobish game* \/

also, nice game-sniping, enigma, one comment from someone with a genuine question about a game happens to incite "wow, i knew this game sucked the whole time" from you >.>
@Albo I think it has to do with the efficacy of Final Smashes, and an attempt to deemphasize some of the stalling tactics involved with roofed and/or sprawling environments
@MechanisMs:
I have my own convictions as to why I can care less for this. Thus my comment.
@themule: Snake was controlled by the Computer... USUALLY the computer is a bit slow depending on the difficulty level. Trust me, I've seen a few videos of Snake kicking ass.
Again, as big of a fanboy hard-on that I have for this game... I just want to play it.
@albo: You really expected more from Nintendo? This game is the same game you played before. It is sumo wrestling with cartoon characters. I like illusion of innovation.
@Sunjammer: yeah unfortunatly i never got around to gettting a GC so i missed out on re4 aswell which i still plan on getting for whatever console in the near future, i guess for the wii?
@Enigma
yeah, i'm really not buying the "i hate all fighters" bait, when you don't consistently post backhanded comments on the SF:IV previews :]
Hmm... I wonder, with the "challenger approaching" screens, were these supposed to be the "character unlock" battles? Or were they just spliced in with a normal battle with a CPU player? Because if it was an unlocking battle, it'd have to really suck losing to Snake 'cause he got the Smash Ball...
no matter how much of the same it ends up being its still a good way to pass the time and I will most likely buy this... if i could just find a wii.
The level designs and destructibility of the first two video was amazing :)... the balance of the last video left me face-palming :(
Correct me if I'm wrong...but dont they have the Hyrule stage from Melee on here. I thought they showed that?
And also, does anyone think that when this launches in America we'll get Smash 64 on VC??? I kno...i can dream!!! lol. But this game is looking more and more gorgeous each day!
Is anyone else also happy that they have the animated entrances again???
Boy, that flower sure looks deadly.
The Melee Hyrule Temple stage is most definitely included.
Also, I didn't realize this until I saw Bowser in the old Onett stage, but they seem to have made him a little bigger. Am I wrong?
@EnigmaNemesis: LOL :) They're attacking you.. you want to borrow my disclaimer? :) In their defense, you haven't been called a "stupid poo poo face" when all other words fail them :)
...
Being that this is a Nintendo first-party game, I'm surprised I've seen this much fan restraint. I just remember the blood-bath called Link's crossbow training. I wasn't even allowed to not like it :( Someone even made a dig at my mama! LOL... it wasn't that bad but people need to stop the reflex attacks on people who don't like brawl. There's far more people out there who can flying-flip about brawl then actually care. Me? I think it's cute :)
...
This wasn't said to offend anyone (just in case).
This game is why Nintendo should have invested in DLC
man... snake was getting his ass handed to him before that final smash...
@okenny :): LOL, yeah. It's sad that nobody is allowed to just like or dislike something these days...what happened to all the mature gamers??? Wait...did we ever have any?? But I digress...
@josephmcklay: Ok, thats what I was thinking. Havent seen anyone playing on it yet. And yeah, he does look bigger
Pretty much how I remembered it on n64, only prettier.
@pokebud: No. Seriously. Just, no.
@pokebud: I dont see why they cant...SD cards would be able to hold enough data. Nintendo data doesnt seem to take up that much space.
@pfive81: You must have a bad memory then. Most of the fundamental gameplay is the same... but pretty much everything else has been improved (and a hell of a lot of content has been added).
@okenny :):
Yes please... I need your disclaimer!
