Heaven forbid any of us actually read the work of someone we disagree with.

Better to simply disregard them for their beliefs than try and appreciate their work. Now I don't defend Card's rapant homophobia, nor am I a proponent of Mormonism. Doesn't mean the guy can't tell a good story.

The truth is that everybody here has a belief or opinion that would appall or challenge the belief's or opinions of every other Kotaku commenter. It shouldn't mean that nothing you say or do in the rest of your life's work is worthwhile... should it?

The general attitude expressed here sickens me somewhat. Sure Card's a bigot. Don't want to support the work of a bigot? Your choice... don't. Good for you. Just remember that every time you fill your gas tank you support inflation, military dictatorships, unprecedented environmental devastation, terrorism, corporate greed, genocide, and war. And that's just so you can drive to work!

It's OK, you can be self-righteous and a hypocrite... if taken at our anonymous word, most people are.
