THX is hosting a panel on the use of sound in video games. In particular the hilariously named My Amp Goes Up to 11 panel is going to discuss whether the game industry should adopt a reference level for producing sound in games. The panel is being hosted by Mark Tuffy, the games systems director for all-around, surround sound ass-kicker THX. Adopting some sort of reference level, which is what movies did long ago, would mean that sound in games, an increasingly important element of the game experience, would improve dramatically.
