Capcom have released a salvo of concept art for their upcoming Bionic Commando remake. Two key points should be noted:
1. Those mech and weapon designs are pretty great
2. In one pic, you can clearly see a clawed, hot dog-free Bionic Commando, giving us a tantalising glimpse of a future world in which the hero is free to walk down the street without packs of wild dogs gnawing on his arm.

second pic: toaster mech FTW!
The third reminds me of something out of Clone Wars.
cost of a real Gundam = $724,310,000
cost of a real Gundam that also toasts your English Muffins?
priceless.
Jesus Christ Almighty. Enough with the hot dog arm, bullshit..
Complaining about the hot dog's is getting a little old. Aren't their other things in this game worth complaining about?
You forgot to add "Oh noes! Hez got teh dredlokz!"
I like hot dogs. Bratwurst is the best.
@THORAX: No, because everything else looks pretty damn great
"In one pic, you can clearly see a clawed, hot dog-free Bionic Commando"
My guess is that's an environmental piece and the character is just there for reference.
Is that a picture of Michael Mcwhertor descending from the ruins of CES?
are people really making a big deal about his arm? its not a big deal
@elevenoverzero: Or a very early proto of the BC. I dunno, I kinda like this one, he's got a Ram-Man vibe about him
Excellent concept art! :D
I wonder what else they cut out in favor of sausage.
@boopadoo: Our childhood memories?
@elevenoverzero: Considering the fact that the environment looks pretty good and the silhouette in the foreground looks like a fifteen year old's idea of the most badass cyborg in the worldz, seconded.
@J.L.Jones, @THORAX, @ElPadre: Let them piss and moan all they want. They are obviously sad individuals that still have to complain about the 'hotdogz and dredlokz' even after the news of additional character skins came out.
And most likely these are the same guys that, like myself, demanded a BC sequel whenever the subject of bringing back forgotten franchises came up. Ingrates.
That pistol looks like the most unwieldy weapon in the history of firearms.
@ElijahDProphet: Actually it looks rather comfortable to hold. Think of the FN P90s design for example. That gun while it looks odd as shit its real comfortable to hold.
Just from the mechanical drawings of the gun alone, Id like to assume that its an automatic firing pistol. On the side of the pistol you will notice 4 settings in the following order from lowest to highest position of the switch.
Saftey, Semi-Auto, 3 Round Burst, Full Automatic.
The extra weight on the back would help prevent the weapon from jumping around on full auto, along with the gas ports on the front of gun (its not the slide since it appears the slide is a separate piece from the front piece) has vents cut into it to help utilize the pressure from the gas escaping upon firing stabilizing the gun on full auto. The same with the way the muzzle appears to be cut.
In closing man how "Smith & Wesson" strayed from their tired and true designs eh? ;D
For crying out loud, enough with the bitching about "hot dog arms!" It's industrial tubing designed to portray somewhat realistically the idea of a bionic arm, and let me tell you, you're gonna need the tubing that may be orange colored to give the idea of the hydraulics involved.
From the few videos they've shown me thus far, I was too busy marvelling at the technical achievement rather than thinking "They better change their concept art because I think it resembles hot dogs, and I'll be damned if I play such a game, no matter how great it is!"
For crying out loud, the crack was barely funny the first time. Repeating it won't make me laugh.
@geekay3: dude seriously.... its merely the coloring that makes people go "hot dog arm". They change the color of the tubes and suddenly no hot dogs.
interesting works, moar plz !
@Kyle81: I never really thought hot dog arm by looking at it. But still, every time a BC post shows, they have to make a crack like it's their own personal "Wazzup!" running gag. Wasn't funny the first time.
Yeah, it's done. No more "hot dog arm" jokes. If you can even call them that.
@geekay3: Nobody is trying to make you laugh in the first place anyways.
Sides its capcoms own fault for making those tubings traffic cone orange in the first place.
Love the concept art - keep it coming!
Though I did initially think that the pic of the masked soldiers was an accidental insertion of concept art from "Army of Two."
@0ldb0y: Army of Two didnt invent ballistic masks you know.
They have always been around, its just you dont see them that often for the various reasons. ;D
Main one is that its uncomfortable and heavy.
@ElPadre: No. No he didn't.
@Witzbold:
Actually, I think it'd be pretty darn uncomfortable. The only reason would be that there's no place for the tips of the last three fingers to actually go. While there's those indents on the handles for the middle, gripping the gun for a while with the last joints on the fingers flat would probably cause a cramp after a while.
that third picture looks like the big ass tank from gits:stand alone complex. pretty sweet concepts though. impressive...
@Faselei: Being a person who has handled various firearms, I think the grip would be just fine. Although this would depend on how thick the grip itself is. Since most likely the pistols magazine would be a double stack / column type of magazine that would be using perhaps a 9mm round we can assume the grip would be about the same width as a beretta for example which isnt that thick. The reason why Im also assuming it would chamber a 9mm round is just for controllability when firing in the 3 RB / FA firing modes.
Now if you are left handed I can see you would have issues. This I know too well being left handed.
