The Space Invaders inspired design that we posted about late last year has become an official Threadless item, ready to be snapped up by t-shirt fans with an extra $15 (or $17, for the ladies) in their pockets. Putting me in poppy orange is like putting me in madras, so I'll be passing, but retro fans with an eye for steampunk may find it suitable enough. Everyone else seemed to like it at the time, so a link to the online haberdasher is provided below.

Very nice, but orange isn't my colour....
I don't have the extra cash to buy it right now. Although a shirt that cool is worth going to the corner and turning some tricks.
Start saving a nickle at a time.
HELL YES!!! I saw that it had kinda low ratings, so I thought they wouldn't make it. Definetly getting this awesome shirt when I can.
Wait, no green? DAMN IT ALL!!!
@Green-clad Gamer Dude:
I know right! The green looked the best to me
Whoa, that is actually an awesome shirt! This may be the first gaming related clothes item I ever buy. Thanks for the heads up Kotaku.
Do you know what smells of poo? Me, sometimes. And also this tee-shirt. It's as if Gordon Freeman vomited on his HEV suit.
Already ordered mine
@Loveable-villain: No you forget it was John Freeman. He is so silly at times.
Bah. I voted on a Green Version. A green Version, I say!
@DARK DVNT [XBL];8908-2379-8728-6953 [Wii]: Fused with juice!:
True. Though it was probably Gordon's suit regardless.
@Loveable-villain: They better included that scene in the next iliteration.
"John adores his brother Gordon. John has always wanted a suit like is brother's. So when all the evil bosses were destroyed John took Gordon's suit while he slept. Gordon needed his rest, all that fighting has made him tired. John thought it would be a good idea to borrow and return it before his brother awoke. But being as John, John got excited and awoke his brother after putting on the suit. Gordon was not pleased and procedded to chase John for his suit. While Gordon chased John, John was hungry and ate some pizza while Gordon chased him. John tried to outrun Gordon but Gordon is much to fast for John. So John gave up and took off the suit and gave it to Gordon. John said he was sorry and Gordon forgave him. They hugged. John then puked on Gordon. The End?
Now this is what I call a gaming shirt :)
/purchased
it's so......orange.
got a pair of nike dunks to go with this tee... ordered!!
steampunk is the trucker hat of the internet
So nice. They have it light blue to AXED!
i could only find the orange shirt, is there any other colors available?
orange shirt....what a dumb idea. Every shirt needs to be available in at least black. I'd get it, if it were in black..but orange...no thank you
That is one ugly color scheme. They couldn't make the Guys shirt in Turquoise and stick the Kids with the horrid Orange?
just finished ordering it, thx for the Michael!!
Yeah, the orange kills it for me, too. People will see that and go "WOW, that's such a... BRIGHT shirt!" instead of "Woah, cool steampunk space invader"
Another vote for the Green Party down the tubes. What kind of half-assed T-shirt company only offers one color?
Ahhh, I -love- steampunk, but why the hell is it -orange-?! I can't think of a color I look worse in than -orange-...Dammit. Would have bought this on the spot, too.
@Kia:
Same :(
I would have bought it in the blue.
If only I were a girl or a child, then I could get that that shirt in a color that doesn't suck.
sheesh u guys are so picky, not every game related tshirt is gonna be a dark color.
orange is fine if you have something to go with it.
some people don't have anything close to orange in their wardrobe at all. in fact, if i bought this shirt, then it'd be the first orange piece of clothing i ever owned. i wonder what happened to that olive color.
@zanzibarlegend:
I'll have you know I have lots of bright coloured t's, just not orange ;)
Another one on the 'Oh god why is it orange?' bandwagon. I was all set to buy this, and then I found out the colour.
I'm not sure who decided that a very geeky shirt should be a bright colour. Geeks + Bright colours = not a good combination. I imagine the conversation went something along these lines:
Flamboyant Fashion Designer: "Oh, now this shirt is just lovely. The design evokes nostalgia of times gone by, with hints of mockery at how industrial and commercialised games have become. Now... it just needs a colour."
Geek: "Something dark. The original green on the design was fine."
FFD: "No. You spent all night playing The Orange Box, and that is the way of the future. It is bright, stunning, fahbulous. Gordon Freeman wears orange, and he is tres popular."
Geek: "You never see him, and he carries around guns. No-one messes with an oranged-suited man with guns, no matter how geeky his glasses may be."
FFD: "I am resolved. I am firm. This will usher in a new era of geek fashion. I am a designer like no other."
Okay, maybe not quite like that, and sure, The Orange Box may be the best thing since sliced bread, but it's neither because of the title, nor the colour.
Same here, this on black would look awesome. :[
purchased
Purchased. And bright orange looks good on me, as most colors do. In fact, were I less humble, I would say that I make them look good on me ;)
@OverlordUbiquitous: LMAO. great narrative.
Orange = my favorite fruit & color
+1 sold
Does it come in black/gray/neutral? Guess not...
Oh well, I'll pass on this one. Steampunk is teh shiz though. I still want to make a laptop like that one. You know, the one that looks like a clock and is turned on with a key? Yeah, that'd be hot.
I emailed Threadless about this (specifically noting the complaints in this thread, since Kotaku voters helped push the shirt through), and got a reply today:
Hi XXX,
Since it's already been printed, we can't go back and un-print them. Sorry the color isn't to your liking!
Have a wonderful day!
