The last of the special iDOLM@STER planes for Ace Combat 6 should be dropping this week, along with several not quite as pretty but half as expensive models. This time around we have Miki Hoshii returning once again, this time emblazoned atop the Su-47 to aid in the embarrassment of any opponent you happen to down in multiplayer. Not a week goes by that I don't struggle to keep myself from purchasing on of Namco Bandai's iDOLM@STER planes via Xbox Live. Luckily for me that 400 point price is just enough over the ridiculous line to keep my love for all things adorable and Japanese in check.

I am so going to play MP just to shoot those Imas planes down.
End times cometh when an Su-47 has that THING plastered over it.
Putin is not going to be happy about this...
I'm sure he's out with his Sniper and his ShootinPutin moniker just waiting to take one of these down.
damm....can't they put new girl on this plane instead?
2 Mikis isn't cool...
I actually love the planes for the pure geekness of it all but I just can't pony up the money for it.
If these skins were 74 cents each i'd buy a whole wack of em.
I still want my King of All Cosmos or Ouji plane. :x
It's like painting a smily face on air-fuel bomb.
It's just so sad that multiplayer is broken beyond repair, since everyone just spams the same missile over and over (QAAM).
Truth to be told, if I could fly these in single-player.. I would probably.. have.. bought them... *blush*
@Hawko: Armored Core 4 was same way. Bad balance, every does the same core build... ZzzZZzz
@Hawko: Can you restrict games to guns and short range missiles, and limit ammo? My mates and I are getting a bit tired of CoD4 and need to go FPS cold turkey for a while.
That SU-47 looks pretty damned pimp. I would never pay for it, but I would download in it for free.
BWAH-HAH-HAH-HAH! That's awesome. Now we just need some Pokemon planes to go along with these....
Hey, for someone actually in the airforce: would you be beat up if you painted an anime chick on your plane? Or don't they do the pin-up stuff anymore?
Is anyone actually buying these things? Over here in the UK you can pick the game up for £40 (excluding sales and pre-owned copies ) but the DLC which only consists of extra plane models and a game type adds up to an additional £26 and thats not including the cost of this latest pack. Seriously overpriced stuff!
Damn you, Namco! Where's my Chihaya plane?!?
You only get 1 plane for ~6 dollars, she's not THAT cute. Remember the good old days when Ridge Racer 6 came out and they gave you a free mappy and galaga car? Gone baby gone like a speeding tuned up import.
@SSJPabs: Heh, I was thinking along the same lines. I'd buy these planes except I find it blasphemous to destroy the looks of the planes with this crap.
Then I realized, I've never actually seen photos of the Japanese Air Force, so for all I know they are being 100% accurate!
damn, those flight shots are b-e-a-utiful. why i dont have this yet? *sigh*
I don't get it! These planes are already in the game! What's with this new artwork crap? Give me NEW PLANES that are not in the game already!!!
@telekinesis:
they're kinda new plane...
the specs are different from normal versions....

Now this is a way to humiliate your enemies.
@NecronomiconUK: Well, yes, you can. Sort of.
You can set what sort of "weapon level" (or something similar, i haven't played it in a while) you want to use. But I find this mechanism almost broken, level 1 restricts to machine gun-fire only. Just a level above (level 2), you get a lot of close-range missiles and also around 10 "Special Weapon"-type missiles. These 10 missiles can include whatever special weapon, including the dreaded QAAMs, so the restriction-system gets kinda useless after level 2 the way I see it.
But seeing as you play with friends, you can just agree to not use certain missiles and balance the game on your own, and it'll probably work out great if you like flight games.
As far as public play goes, it's still broken beyond repair and there are very few active players online (I get around two to three hosts wlast time I played).
Oh dear God yes...
My favorite plane combined with some sort of weird Japanese plane...
Also, Yellow 13 scheme AND a neat Nosferatu scheme?
If only they didn't cost so much, I'd be on them like cute on penguins.
I have to stop myself from buying the planes and I don't even OWN Ace Combat 6.
@Hawko: It makes me sad to hear that the online is like that. I had high hopes for it... oh well =(
@Witzbold: I'm sure I can get you in on a 16-player rocket launcher poley with the Flankers and such.
Oh, and did the article say the "last of the series?" hell no; the only reason Miki came up again was 'cause none of the Imas girls has a birthday on January. Expect Chihaya [www.idolmaster.jp] to grace the wings of some of the flatter planes next month.
meh @ the Su-47. Gimme the F-22 over that Russian piece of junk any day.
