Live in Mexico? Like Dragonball? You're in luck! The DB movie is looking for extras. No experience necessary! It looks like the cattle call has already commenced. This is actually the coolest news to come out of the Dragonball movie shoot. In an age were all crowds scenes are CG, it's pretty neat that the producers are using actual people for the shoot. Too bad they seem to be mucking up the rest of the flick. Then again, after the censoring the anime got when it came to the US, this movie should just be par for the course.

This movie. Is going. To fail.
End of discussion.
DRAGON DRAGON BALL
DRAGONBALL Z
Yeah this movie is going to suck.
You mean hilariously bad isn't going to be good enough?
(PS. In before over 9000 Mexicans)
Senor Spielbergo doing this one?
What're these extras for? To scream and point at an Oozaru or something?
@Josh*: to play the asian people running and screaming from the bad guys. b/c if a american can play Goku 1.5k mexians can play japanese people
I don't recall the dragon ball world's populous consisting entierly of mexicans.
Confirmed! The Spirit Bomb will be 1500 Mexicans taped together. That's one holy frijole!
@Bleentastic: I'm just struggling to think of the uses. Think of all the crowd scenes in DBZ.. yeah, all three of them, right?
Saiyans landing (4kids - "in an empty city" lol), Satan's tournament ... actually I struggle to think of a third.
This is going to be one interesting (crap) adaptation.
careerkiller z.
:(
every boll movie will be better than this
Im pretty sure the people making this movie are douchebags.
@Josh*: if they really want to screw up the storyline they could use them as the people that Buu changed into candy. Can't think of many scenes with large crowds in DB tho mostly in DBZ and GT
I remember when every one said transformers would be crap.....
@invictus2006: i remember the days everyone said Jason X and Leprechaun In Space would be crap...oh wait
I hope this bombs so hard as to drive the actors to kill themselves and the movie studio to burn down. To teach all the others a lesson.
first time in history that it will be Americans fleeing the border into Mexico, not that anyone will stop them
This is by far going to be the worst movie ... ever.
@STARSBarry: You would be shocked. It's harder to get into Mexico then it is to get into the USA.
Bet they will all have sweet spikey hair tho! :D
I missed the episode of dragonball when goku was a high school student in mexico city.
Low Budget Movie Confirmed again.
@Mr. Dark E: mexicans dont come cheap!
@Fluffy22:
Buy them in bulks and for every 500 they get a bag of tortilla! /ashamed
Filming the "Strongest under the Heavens?" That's why you need 1500 extras. In "Masked Rider 555: Paradise Lost," the producers somehow got a boatload of people into the movie when they filmed that stadium scene. At the end of that movie, every single name in attendance was used to form some kind of collage.
I'm outraged! First computer technician outsourcing, manufacturing outsourcing, now they outsource our Mexican extras to Mexico!
On a serious note, why aren't they looking for OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Sorry, I had to. The only mention was "in before 'over 9000'"..
The only thing I'm really interested in about this movie is James Marsters as Picalo. I'm curious to see what they'll make him look like, and how he'll approach the character. I've been watching a lot of Buffy The Vampire Slayer lately, and love what he does with the character of Spike. He started off as a pretty shallow character, but there's a lot of dimension to him later in the series.
Just hit three or four Home Depots.
Seriously though, could this movie get any worse?
@Josh*:
Sr. Spielbergo: Drangon Ball anime es muy bueno, Live Action es el diablo.
lemme speak in native tongue for this one:
Esta pelicula va a ser una pedazo de mierda. :)
Okay? Even if this movie is going to be total crap this is the kind of movie that you go see with a bunch of friends and laugh at how bad it is.
It's worse enough that Goku looks like a nerd from high school and can't finish a simple sentence without daydreaming for minutes.. Tell me that Picolo is not a Mexican dude wearing a turban instead of a freaking green whatever-you-want-to-call-it thing?
Well, the workforce of 1.500 Mexicans = OVER 9000 AMERICANS!!!!!
I know, I know, I'll burn in hell for that one.
If i was mexican and they pay well i would go, even if im cursing the guys who are doing the movie and are destroying a classic, but whatever...
@thedollhouse: i hate to admit it but you sir are right
@mr_dimsum: nah, Piccolo is played by that guy who played Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'll leave it up to you to decide if that's better or worse.
@TitillatedOcelot (NinjaBall [psn] Callabrantus [xbl]):
It's a good thing. After getting addicted to Firefly, I bought the Buffy chosen collection box set without ever seeing an episode simply due to the fact that Joss Whedon was in charge of the show. Spike is an awesome character, and I've got major respect for James Marsters.
Dragonfail Z - Regardless of hard lame this movie is going to be, thousands upon thousands will still shell out to see it.
Need I remind you, guys, that there are 10-year-olds that will find this movie the mecca of all things awesome. Meanwhile, us commonfolk will sit back and read the poor reviews!
Hell, even Cooper Lawrence doesn't have to watch this to say its bad!
@bluesquareapple: "in before" means you're not supposed to post that after it's mentioned. Thus, you fail.
The US got DBZ censored too? So the only American country that got it uncensored was Mexico? Chile, Argentina, etc. also got it censored.
@bluesquareapple: They're filming in Mexico. I think that's why they are asking for extras here.
@izarate: French canadian television aired the uncensored version too for quite a while.
I want to see Chi-Chi...(stupid joke)
WTF with all%
No quieren no quieren!
Oh, man, I've been an extra on a few movie sets, and let me tell you, it's fucking brutal. If you like being herded like sheep and treated like shit, sign up!
I know this is gonna fail big time, but damn it if it wasn't for school I would totally go, actually a couple of friends that took this semester as a sabatical are going
I wonder if any fans in Mexico will care. There has been so much animosity shown towards this film because of the odd casting and the fact the film is being made as a live action film at all!
They could save this movie by hiring a bunch of short mexicans (no offense) just like from Happy Feet to just follow Goku around.
That would be sweeet.
so the frigging flyers are actually not a scam...
Ashcraft, you might cover a lot of quirky japanese things that i really have no interest in most of the time, but you covered the DBZ movie, so I'm going to do that nodding thing with music behind, like when someone wins over someone else's respect in a stupid movie or sitcom.
*nod*
As for the actual news.. If I said to myself "What could save the DBZ movie" I'd probably say "Somewhere in the area of 1-2 thousand mexicans!"
I wont go into too many details, but I got offered to go down to mexico and do previz for the movie, I would have been on-set. Pay was actually pretty damn good all expenses were paid. It's a shame I had other commitments that prevented me from going. I agree tho, the movie's probably going to be terrible, some movies just shouldn't be made...
why are you offending us mexicans??? don't you know most of us can pull off kame-hame-has?
