i got the crimson and black one primarily because the of the matte black plastic. i can't stand finger prints.

The Crimson had poorer viewing angles, and white backgrounds had a yellowish tint when moving it back and forth. I returned by Crimson and got an Onxy. Nintendo got cheaper LCD's in their new DS's.

It's something that you probably won't realize unless you had the older LCD like I did, but there's a huge difference between them. I couldn't stand the poor viewing angles of the new LCD, and that yellowish tint

Are the LCDs on the new DSes really inferior? I got a Crimson/Onyx DS about a month ago and compared to my mother's DS Lite (it's a white one) I have noticed that the colors on mine are a little off. The bottom screen seems more yellow than hers unless I hold it at an unnatural angle and then when I do that the top screen is too dark. It's not actually a big deal but I've been wondering.

Oh, I guess in the time I wrote that post there was a reply and that's it exactly. Haha, man, so it's not just me. Ugh but my crimson/onyx DS is just so fierce. I'll live.

That's exactly the problem I'm talking about. If you google it you'll find others saying the same thing. Again it isn't noticeable really until you compare it to an older one and see the difference. I had actually sold my onyx to buy the crimson but I couldn't stand the viewing angles or the yellowish tint so I returned it and bought an Onyx which is perfectly fine.

I fear all new DS's will have these LCD's in them.

@ssjmichael: My old onyx was just fine, but I swapped it out for a new one (also onyx) last fall. Sadly, my new one has a yellow-tinted bottom screen. :(

My Zelda DS Lite is fine so far, but I'm still worried about it.

Why don't they introduce new regular DS colors? If my current special edition Red DS ever died I don't think I'd want a Lite.

I'm all for options, but I'm sorry if I can't get excited of color schemes or faceplates for systems or controllers -- it's all secondary to functionality.

Man I hope this is true, my parents are over there in the states in february. Combined with favorable exchange rates and I've been thinking about upgrading to Lite recently means I would get one if this is true.

I sold my original white Lite(that I scored for free in the first place - profit from selling the black model to US buyers when it was Euro-exclusive) last Christmas for more than sticker price due to demand...

I can't think of any games on the horizon worth rebuying for though, new colour or no (I quite like the silver one). Still have to get through Diamond and Hourglass, however.

@edb87: I NEED that!! lol. I would totaly spend the money again.

For what it's worth, we're showing 50+ of the new color on order at work, so I'd guess this is confirmed.
