This is fake guys. GT just used this for there video as an example. These fake screens have been floating around the internet for awhile now.

That was probably the most likely character to be in the game of the ones just announced (assuming its not a fake).

There's no way in hell this thing is real. Not a chance. The fact that the new characters are using recycled images from previous games should be a pretty firm indication that this is fake. And Ashley? Be serious.

The only one I'm excited about is Lucario, which was already revealed last week or so.

IT'S FAKE. Look at all of the unannounced Pokemon. Windwaker Link is ripped from some cover art. Ganandorf is fake as well. Just look before you go freaking out guys.

For one thing, take a look at Ness's picture, I remember that once being the image on his Wikipedia article (although not any more). Not to mention that it doesn't fit in with any of the other character shots at all.

The question mark that goes over it it the video clues you into that. GT uses it to illustrate a point in the video, granted they should have been more clear about that considering the uproar it's causing.

Hmm, lets see, they throw a ? right on the screen when the screen comes across. I would think that denotes that they aren't sure that this is the roster. The character roster shown here has been a rumored roster in the intertubes for a while, so I'm sure they just mocked it up with a certain flash tool that has been made for shits and giggles.

I'm pretty sure this is fake... why would they use a consistent art style with some of the characters and use stock images with others (see Mewtwo, Ness, Ganondorf, Luigi...)

This screen is a confirmed fake and a very old one at that. This is lazy reporing for GameReporters, but just a shame for Kotaku. This should be deleted.

@psiklone: It could have been placeholders until the real models were done if those images were old.

Sadly, this is a fake indeed (as much as I'd love to have three reps. from the Mother series...). It has been confirmed so for at least a month, as it is a mockup someone created (it wasn't even intended to deceive anyone in the first place). Maybe GameTrailers still decided to use it for illustrating purposes, but still it was a pretty poor decision, specially taking into account how Smash fans are when it comes to the games' roster.

Anyway, this is fake, and actually it'd be great if you could update your post reflecting this matter so that more people who have been misled by the video will know the truth, sad to see this spreading as if it was real news just to have tons of people complaining later about how it was completely different in reality...

Vis a vis the enormous response to the mistaking of Dark Shadow for Batman, I can explain: I don't play racing games.

I hate this game. Its not even out and i hate it. I hate it because of the way every day there is a small update that makes fanboys froth, and debate the intricacies of gigglypuffs final smash. The fanbase is worse than Halo fans and even worse than Metal Gear fans.

Fake. Ridley, Ashley, Micaiah, and WW Link are 2D. The Wolf, Fox, and Krystal renders are promotional art for another game. Same goes for Luigi, K Rool, Midna, Ganondorf, Dark Samus, and Black Shadow, among others. I'm don't need to go on, do I?
