On a Fox News clip, self-proclaimed psychologist Cooper Lawrence shot her mouth off on a game she'd never played. (And most likely a game she'd never even heard of before she got on air.) Doing so, she not only exposed her own ignorance and prejudices, but also angered publisher Electronic Arts and the gaming community. As a sort of internet vigilante justice, the Amazon page for her new book The Cult of Perfection (the irony) is getting the crap spammed out of it. As of posting there are 330 reviews. 279 of those reviews are one star reviews. Reviews include lines like:
• "I never read the book, don't know who she is, and don't really care what she's writing about."
• "If she does have as much "research" as she does for her tv spots you can expect a book full of complete lies at best. Take everything she writes with a huge grain of salt or better yet save your money."
• "Trying to encourage sexual acts in a book made available to young children is unacceptable."
What's more, her other books (Been There, Done That, Kept the Jewelry and The Fixer-upper Man) are getting spammed as well. Immature and petty, sure, but at least it's not as stupid as attacking something you know fuck all about.

Funny, but stuff like this always gets spun. Though, I have to say, they are hitting her where it hurts. Need to start spamming the publishers as well.
haha, immature and petty sure, but also funny. I'd do dirty nasty things to her though :)
YESS!
I'm a peaceful person by nature; these people, though, really need a serious lambasting.
As gamers, it is our responsibility to come up with the most trivial of defenses and then use the community to realize the potential of said defense.
FIGHT! You don't fuck with gamers (not that I'm threatening, we're a nice bunch really).
She threw down.
Well it sucks that she is getting spammed but honestly it's an eye for an eye. Reviewing something without playing or reading is the same but it was made 10x fold on her case.
Damn this is seriously something those airheads that always appear on the news really had comin. Best quotes eber.
To judge by the book cover, she has 'Made Peace with' her Inner Dieter and is now hanging out with her Inner Tony Roma's Full Rack o' Ribs Eater.
Oh, and I bet that after this Kotaku post those 1 star ratings will skyrocket.
Immature and petty, sure, but at least it's not as stupid as attacking something you know fuck all about.
Hey, you have to fight fire with fire. Hit them where it hurts or your just wasting your time.
LOL great justice! by the way what did she say ? About which game?
In other news: if I were a mafia boss, I would probably sanction a kneecap-breaking on the lady here and send a basket of fresh, delicious pomegranates to EA.
OMG! You can faintly make out her bra through that shirt! For shame lady! For shaaaaaaaaameeeee.
Eureka! That is awesome and just plain and downright hilarious! 100% deserved and earned. :P Pwned!
"Immature and petty, sure, but at least it's not as stupid as attacking something you know fuck all about."
Maybe I'm just missing the joke... but isn't that exactly what it is?
Why are we stooping to her level?
Do not unjustly piss off the gamers. Get what you deserve!
@JibbyJam: More like She-shrew down.
Can't say she doesn't deserve this...
I just posted a one-star review myself. You reap what you sow.
If the book was about perfection, she should have hired a model to pose for the cover.
man all that's left is for this Kotaku article to hit DIGG.COM.. lucky for her, i don't know how to do that.
I can't speak for others though..
@Saxboy: I wouldn't consider this stooping. I'd consider this bending down to cut the tendons from her legs.
I personally thought her book was better than Mass Effect and a Million Little Pieces combined
This is pretty petty, but then her going on national TV and talking about stuff she has no understanding of was just a stupid thing to do. She kinda had it coming.
BTW, I was one of the people that one-out-of-tened Kane And Lynch on gamespot, so this kind of thing is right down my alley.
And how is this any different from protesting, or boycotting a product? It's non-violent, yet gets the message across. If anything we should be promoting this behavour, besides - It's what Green Peace would do!
@Saxboy: Because believe it or not it's often better to "stoop" to someones level. It's a common misconception that the whole stooping to someones level is a bad thing it's implying your above them in some way when in fact instead of solving and facing the conflict your just totally sidestepping it. It's stupid and it's childish to just ignore a problem instead of dealing with it.
Bottom line. It was stupid of her to pick a fight with a group who's average demographic is 17-33.Mass Erect ftw.
She deserves it.
Good. One more uninformed twat...but at least this one's getting what they deserve.
@Saxboy: And why are you happy to let people just get away with it?
@darkslide: SOMEBODY DIGG THIS, I don't have a digg account.
Whahaha, I love gaming culture. These kinds of occurances are exactly why I keep visiting this site.
@Nightshift_Nurse: Now that I think of it, does that equally uninformed, delusional bitch who wrote the Resident Evil 5 piece for the Village Voice have a book out on Amazon?
The third bulleted comment Kotaku highlighted is the best.
I definitely think this bit of spamming on Amazon is pretty good, but I just wish all the "reviews" were completely deadpan- it would have been much more clever and effective.
"Trying to encourage sexual acts in a book made available to young children is unacceptable."
LOL'd
I only wished I'd've thought of doing this first.
Haha serves her right :D Brilliant.
Here's my review:
"Never read it, know nothing about it, but I'm sure that it's garbage that should be kept away from our children at all costs. Explicit sex scenes, graphic nudity . . . seeming like something an aspiring pornstar would write.
Again, I haven't read it, but not having experience with something didn't stop her from badmouthing something, so why should it stop me? You reap what you sow."
Anon? Are you behind this? :P
Great stuff.
lol, what more needs to be said?
@ShaggE: I know you didn't just mention Anon.
DIGG.COM ?
I don't have an account. I wouldn't know what to do. That would make it ridiculous.
*Sigh* What do people want to do next? Burn her house down? She already proved on national TV she isn't someone to be taken seriously. Acting like children by spamming her book pages on Amazon.com is only showing how truly immature the community is. She should be ignored, just like any other basket-case who makes claims without empirical knowledge.
It's surprising how quick a nobody can be the source of resentment overnight.
Immature, maybe, but most lobbies put pressure and focus where it hurts, and the fact gamers start acting as a united force is actually quite interesting.
So you get back at an ignorant hate monger by ignorantly mongering hate.
This bodes well for the public perception of us gaming hobbyists, really, i'm impressed guys. We haven't seneslessly mobbed against a single thing this well since that whole Gamespot fiasco, way to go team! Keep up the Good work.
I love gamers! group hug everyone! lol.
@dnzperson:
It's already been digged !!
@KeroseneClimax: But, it's funny. Hence, I do it. This is something that needed a response . . . ignoring something until it goes away is something either a fool or a coward would say.
Beautiful irony... the idiot critic gets critibombed, thus proving once again... never piss off the fanboys or the hell will be unleashed!!!
For great justice.

*UPDATE* Unfortunately, Amazon is now deleting any one-star negative reviews of the book.
aww..
Might be immature but her going on live TV and talking crap about game she admitted she never played is just as wrong. She gave Mass Effect unfair, biased bad rep, they are giving her books the same. Someone please tell me they aren't the same thing, because from the way i look at it they are.
The difference is, way way more people will be watching the news, rather than reading her books.
I never found spamming to be a form of "fighting" back. It's more of an immature annoyance, though, Kotaku already stated that... =p
I don't think this would hurt me really if I were the one being spammed, then again, I'm not a woman and I dont take words of other so up the ass. (hate to be sexist there, but c'mon...)
We should all, instead, create a large bonfire and burn every book printed WHILE we shove her idiocy down her throat with words.
This book delivers. Another great book with more of her interactive sex scenes. This time the woman uses a blowdryer (as pictured on the cover). It is pretty intense. However it is marketed towards children and should be banned. What trash. If you're an adult don't you dare buy this because your kids will read it when you are not home.
I do say i should read more of her books based on this review.
@darkslide:
I guess a 2 is just as bad! Now to it guys 2 stars!
