Look, Nintendo, you're making money, you're selling units, we're happy for you. But what the hell is this? A sitting still contest? Sitting painfully on a small plastic brick is not fun. It's not even fit. It's bullshit.

ugh... wtf
Hahaha. I never meditating helped me lose weight. You said it well Luke. That just made me laugh. He scream is priceless
It like that silly game where people try to stay as long as possible without blinking...
Now they can teach us how to sit, convenient! No seriously this is total bullshit and it is quite weird weird because... someone, somewhere is probably doing that, RIGHT NOW.
The casuals will love it. Here's some more:
Wii want to watch paint dry
or
Wii sleep
or
Wii are fucking idiots!
Congratulations, you just bought a $200 floor mat with motion sensitivity.
If it can hold up to 200lbs why not. Kudos to Nintendo for bringing the jealousy out of people!
Yeah...I'd ask why we need to use the Wii to meditate, whilst using a plastic brick for support...but then all the bales of Nintendo's cash would laugh at me.
...well shit.
That is actually pretty interesting, it's not as easy as you'd think to sit perfectly still.
And just as soon as he was about to find inner peace too. Dang shame that.
Bullsh*t... or bullFIT?
It the American version: WiiSit.
Why are people getting bent out of shape about this?
It's call Wii Fit as in Fitness it has stuff they use in Fitness training and that includes meditation.
It's not called Wii can do what ever the hell we want with a balance board.
Get over it.
Meditating if buying a Wii and Wiifit was a wise choice.... OOOOhhhhhmmmm.......... oooohhhmmmm- no.
Some people apparently can't take a joke.... ahem... :O
the Wii Fit can only hold 200 lbs? what about the other 75% of obese, fat, lazy americans that want to get skinny by riding a plastic mat after they tried every miracle pill, died, and therapy, everything except exercise, them lazy bastards.
I think that a lot of people take yoga seriously, and if this thing can tell you if you're balancing correctly, I think a lot of people will appreciate that.
dopest game evah!!!
diet*
I am sorry, but i'm diggin it
@PatMan33: Unless of course your Hank Hill
The more I see the Wii's upcoming stuff, the more I'm glad I sold it before Christmas for a hefty profit.
Ugh.
Luke -- this may be one of my favorite articles you've written. Hooray for speaking the truth with glorious bluntness!
I believe Wii Fit is nothing to do with real fitness.
It's all about balance.
That said, just balance a book on your head and you're done.
But yeah, this seems to be a "Sit still WHILST trying to keep straight and all that" game.
But Wii Fit is a load of bollocks anyway.
I can only see multiplayer would include an attatchment for the wii remote where player 2 hits player 1 when they have impure thoughts.
When is that PS3 pricedrop going to come again? Oops; sorry - wrong story.
...or is it?!
its like a different form of brain training
Are you kidding?
Sitting perfectly still and not doing anything is great!
This is totally worth an $80 investment!
@phinehas: No, more like BullSIT.
200lbs?? What the hell? Pretty weak.. I hit 205, but im 6'3", not fat at all.. in fact I'm pretty average for most canadian guys.. just slightly taller I guess. Not that I ever plan on getting a damn balance board.
An apparatus that helps you become mentally fit...
I think Nintendojo is on to something here.
@richflair:
if you send me 100 dollars ill sell you a rug and it allows you to sit on it too!plus it goes with any decor no need for storage!
It's one freaking mini game.
Here's a smart idea. If you don't like that mini game PLAY A DIFFERENT ONE.
all I have to saw is- lol que?!
Actually, after watching this video....I am more interested in purchasing WiiFit then ever before. Though I do feel like I'm in the minority....
Possible captions:
FIRE HOT! ARGH!
or...
THE VOICES IN MY HEAD! I CAN'T BURN DOWN THE ORPHANAGE!
@wicko: It's all the tiny japanese people
Sitting still help your mind to "stay fit". That is something that most Kotaku-ites (myself included) need desperately.
Gori!
Nintendo: BEHOLD!
Everyone: WHY didn't WE think of that?!?
Folks. I present to you what will most likely be the highest selling game of 2008.
Sad.
I think you miss the point, one trackminded Luke.
he was trying to make farting signals.
whoah new age in gaming! spiritual super mario!
I'm still cracking up at the description in the post. :)
SOUNDS LIKE FUN!!!
Become one with your Wii
You do have to give them credit...they were DEFINITELY thinking outside the box for that one.
lol i wasn't grabbed by wiifit at all or that little plastic board thing... until i saw this. what a great concept. i'm serious. i want
thats it i've had it with the wii self named crap just give me mario kart and super smash brothers brawl.
well gee, just because you're a hyper active twit who doesn't meditate doesn't mean that you should bash something that is meant to help people meditate.
i hope i can use the wii fit mat in SSBB
I have to ask one thing... WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!
How can you lose at this game (i'm assuming there are going to be handful of modes), is there gonna be records for who sits on there ass the longest? Seriously guys, I really want to know. I can't wait to see the odd YouTube videos for Wii Fit.
So what, there are like 30 other activities on the disc or something, right? Does it really matter that one isn't particularly interesting?
collect dust with your wii!
@thomasav: Hahaha!

Really though, anyone have an idea of what he's saying? I'm kinda curious!
Well, that certainly explains the need for a larger Balance Board for America.
@Ryumeka: lol, yeah I guess so haha
Wow, nintendo has officially made the most boring game in existance. Sweet.
It's called Wii Fit, not Wii Lose Weight. Comprehension ftl.
@GLaDOS: that's some pretty good bullWIT you got there.
Looks exciting.... not!
According to the balance board Wiki, the Wii Fit's weight limit is 136kg(300lb) in Japan, and the "Western" Version will be beefed up to a 150kg(330lb) limit. Even though Wikis aren't always right, I'll take the Wiki's word for the weight limit before I do random Kotaku commenter guy's.
Even Shaq weighs less than 150kg (or least he's listed at 325lbs, he's probably closer to 360 right now). Nintendo should get him for the ad campaign, that'd kill any rumors about it not being able to handle big-assed Americans.
have you ever heard of YOGA people? it's a rather famous exercise/meditation.
this is based on that. thare's a ds game with these exercises and they are small routines mostly focused on reducing your stress and stretching the muscles, not making the stronger.
People are weird and they overreact a lot. This is actually a clever little minigame included with the WiiFit package. For Japan, this isn't a bad advertisement at all, since that little game is probably more appealing to their eye than it would be an American or European's.
I for one am GLAD that we get cool little things like this, and would like to try it out. The day when all video games are brown shooters is the day that gaming died.
Please, it looks cool and everyone knows it! If it was on the PS3 people would be saying meditation is future proof.
