SingStar in English is bad enough. Sure, every version of the game released thus far has had one or two tolerable, maybe even memorable tracks, but on the whole? Complete drivel. The German-language SingStars, though...well. After the jump are some of the tracks featured on SingStar Apres-Ski, a Europe-only edition of the game released last year. Europe, Germany, pop music, singing, you know where this is going. Enjoy!
First up, Ein Stern, by DJ Ötzi & Nik P
Next is Cowboy Und Indianer, by Olaf Henning
And last, but by no means least, is Finger im Po, Mexiko, by Mickie Krause. And yes. "Finger Im Po" means what you think it means.
[thanks Oliver!]

Oh...
Holy...
I think I'm vomiting out my ears. I don't even need to know the language to do so. Oh, man, that's just...a crime against all of humanity.
I could only hear the first few seconds of them before crying a little inside. The last one haha. A slap to mexico? EIther way i would not find myself singing this and for some reason the 2nd video would fit perfectly with the World Cup. I just don't know why
Holy hell. Now my online Physics homework sets don't seem so torturous anymore :O
Yes it's terrifying but common, you have abominations of that kind, too! Don't be shy: What do you guys sing when you're drunk?
Curse you, Luke! That last song will be stuck in my head for months... :(
It's Numa Numa all over again...
Only listened to a bit of the first one but I'd say the video makes me vomit. The music just sounds generic is all.
Come now Luke, some of the Singstar releases have been really good. 90's and Rock Ballads stand out especially as having on the whole strong track lists. By which I mean a large proportion of songs that at a party someone will go "ooooh I want to sing that" and people clap and sing along.
Good times.
No different from the crap that MTV passes on as music. At least these sound like fun during drunken parties.
@platinum: "Fame" by Irene Cara, while voguing.
Okay, no, but I should. And I should do "jazz hands" during the chorus.
When is the Russian version coming out?
"My love for you is like a truck, Berserker!
Would you like some making fuck, Berserker!
My love for you is like a rock, Berserker!"
lol?
Sorry I just don't know what else to say :/
Finger im po Mexico tralalalala
it's rumored to be Britney's new nr1 single
In the Last one at the beggining he definatly says something about a vaseline and volvo combi.
Sounds like something out of the first Jackass
@PatMan33:
I'd buy it.
stick it in the pooper - yeah.
Ha ha ha, it´s fantastic how you guys react on this shit music ;) These kind of songs are called "trash" in germany too. Only the special type of the population in germany listens or even sings to this kind of music! Cheap crap - FINGER IN PO!
mother of FUCK
AHAHAHAHA. HOLY FUCK THEY HAVE DJ OETZI!
Okay, so I was in Austria this last summer doing a study abroad program for school. Me and some of my American friends stumbled across his new album that this first song is off of because it was nominated for an Amadeus Award, which is kind of like an Austrian Grammy from what I understand of the newspaper articles I read.
Let me say that again... they nominated that first song's album for album of the year. It's terrifyingly bad. And of course we bought it, cause as someone pointed out it's even funnier drunk. I'm pretty sure I have a copy floating around on my hard drive.
Also, do yourselves a favor and do a google image search for DJ Oetzi. I promise, it will make your day. Just look at this guy. He looks like Uwe Boll if he went into hip hop instead of directing. It's terrifying and hilarious at the same time.
Thank God they didn't give him that award... unfortunately I'm pretty sure that the equivalent of their "American Idol" did win. She's actually not terrifying... just rather mittelmäßig in my opinion.
@M.C.-Action: Yeah, that's exactly how my roommate explained it to me over there. These songs are like Bruce Campbell movies to them. They're awful, but there's a time and a place for them. And, of course, there will always be sheeplike idiots who are convinced that they are honestly good simply because they get airtime and the singles do well.
Yeah...that last one in particular is quite the abomination.
Still, where's the Hasselhoff?
I could go for that cowboy song after a few drinks.
@Touy: DJ Oetzi like...? You shouldn't disrespect Uwe Boll like that.
I can't believe I said that.
i hope opblaaskrokodil is in this
ah bollocks, it's not

It's not a music game in Germany without David Hasslehoff.
i dont want to defend teh german folksmusik, but those doesnt represent the vast majority. those song are , for ppl who are too drunk to get on their ski or just enjoy normal communication.
"Apres Ski" is, and that is not a joke, a music genre designed for people under heavy influence of alcohol. The listener must be able to sing along even after his or her 10th beer. Not directly my type of music, but for a Singstar collection it makes kinda sense
"Finger im Po" IS GREAT lol OMG, that is great music :D You should not complain Luke ts tss tss ts.
Wow! They would be amazing to sing a after a few drinks.
Ein kotaku, der 1000 Jahre dauern wird!
No 99 Luftballoons?
You know what though, all of these tracks are pretty catchy. I had a friend listen to nothing but ScrEaMO music. I'm pretty much numb to 98% of music out there.
In the first one I thought they were making fun of pop song videos in the beginning. I shed a tear when I realized they weren't.
The second had potential in the beginning with a banjo and a crazy man on stage but that quickly turned to nausea when the song started.
I couldn't stop laughing through the beginning of the song. But the laughter quickly died when the song went on and I realized just how incredibly stupid it was.
"Sure, every version of the game released thus far has had one or two tolerable, maybe even memorable tracks, but on the whole? Complete drivel."
Hey! Not true. Good tracklists on both Singstar Rocks and Singstar ps3.
Ah, beautiful cliché. There thou art.
As you must be aware, Aprés Ski means: Drink a lot of booze and don't remember where you were last night and what you did, ie. singing songs which would have made even Beethoven cringe, with people you would ignore on the street.
Germans only enjoy this kind of singing with a minimum of 15 beers or maximum IQ.
And you thinking that singer even THOUGHT about making fun of "Mexico", think again. I think the singer doesn't even know where or what Mexico is. That was just for rhyming value.
However, many can't seem to deny the magnetism of stupid, meaningless songs over here I think!
German Singstar?
Needs more cowbell.
"DJ Ötzi - Ein Stern" was last year's best selling song in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. And yes, as a German myself I'm very ashamed. He had several other unbelievable songs. Have a look at DJ Ötzi's "Burgerdance" as well: [www.youtube.com]
Olaf Henning is a big star of German Carnival. That's when "we" dress up like idiots and try to be funny.
Mickey Krause is the number one entertainer on Germany's favorite "get drunk and layed" isle Mallorca in Spain.
If you want more crazy stuff out of that horrible Singstar version, I recommend:
De Randfichten - Lebt denn der alte Holzmichl noch:

EAV - Ding Dong:

Guildo Horn - Guildo hat euch lieb:

Höhner - Viva Colonia:

(yes, THAT'S German Carnival...)
With tears in my eyes, Greetings from Germany ;-)
No Heino? I'm disappointed.

I'm german, for me it's even worse! Luckily, one can ignore this beer and ski-culture ...
@Touy
Yeah! And the same f%$?!§ are dowloading all these shit ringtones from Jamba. OMG I hate it! - But "Army of Darkness" is still a classic :D
Dear God, please send more brain to those people. I want to watch musicvideos on MTV not ringtone-commercials!
yeah, this version is pretty bad, but the rest is ok, like the Toten Hosen Singstar or Rock und Pop vol.1
Après Ski parties are the worst things ever to come out of Austria since A.Hitler. But just like Hitler, it was actually made big by Germans.
Anyway: Please, believe me, this is not representative of german and austrian contemporary music. That's just.. trash.. evil pop junk for the stupid masses. And even they don't really like it. They have to get drunk first and they need the special atmosphere of an all-inclusive skiing holiday.
Hot tears of shame..
@Mokai: And no David Hasslehoff, either - scandalous!^^ (I'm from Germany, btw)
Guys...I am German and this really is something the majority in our country is ashamed of.
In fact whenever I listen to things like this, I wonder how much I have to drink to get my IQ on a level allowing my brain to not die in agony.
well in fairness "ein stern" was the oktoberfest song this year so might be ok with a beer.
oh god,i've been living in munich too long... :(
As some of you know, I work in a videogame store here in Germany, and this sells SURPRISINGLY well!! There's even a PS2-Bundle, normally reserved for so called "system sellers".
Makes me sad to say that this is popular, but that's how it is... :(
the horror!!!!!!
...must...kill...it...with...fire.....needs....no...moar
I know the guy go does the Singstar boxart...we used to share a flat in the same building that Jamie Hewlett lived in.
Has anybody seen That Peter Kay Thing? The episode of that with the really crap pop star... The music video he makes in that show is so reminiscent of the first video on here in style and tone.
While I would agree that this isn't indicative of general pop music in Germany, I have to admit that the general standard of pop music there is piss poor. As it is everywhere to be fair, it's just on top of that, unless you are Kraftwerk of some over cold, mechanical sounding like them, it's impossible to sound at all cool when singing in German.
I am German and I have to say...
well...
this IS bad music.
But there is still good german music out there you know? Remember Rammstein? And this ones are also good:

Well, that's German 'party' music for you. Who ever has attended a German apres ski party or the German 'Karneval' knows the setting in which such music blossoms. You usually won't find that kind of stuff on German music television channels, except when they show a list of the 100 worst songs ever. :)
pff après-ski and no Anton aus Tirol? lame :p
