Xbox Live Status Watch: Day 31. Not out of the woods quite yet, it seems, as a handful of readers in the US of A have written to us expressing their displeasure with Xbox Live's connection reliability today. Me? I'm connecting just fine. But reports of dashboard slowness and matchmaking issues are popping up in forums all over the internet. What have you got planned for us beyond Undertow, Microsoft?

Bah, mine has been fine for a while. People might just be writing in to keep this thing alive and try to get more free stuff.
Yeah I have been playing w/o any problems for over 2 weeks now.
im still having some issues in chicago.
I've been having a lot of dashboard issues today and losing my connection randomly and no I'm not lieing to get free stuff
blah this is boring
"What have you got planned for us beyond Undertow, Microsoft?"
They're planning to patch in more sex scenes to Mass Effect as a way to make up for it, I hear. Not that Mass Effect didn't have a plethora of hot hardcore action to begin with.
Seriously though, free Metal Slug 3 would be nice.
Did location have anything to do with this? What part of the US? It seems matchmaking is fine here in Canada, but dashboard does lag from time to time.
Yeah...some dashboard slowness for me. But nothing too annoying. Works fine once I actually play a game.
Xbox Live has never been perfect, little problems creep up in any system. The people who still see the whole thing as broken might have a particular axe to grind.
Let's not get all FOX about this story.. people need to make sure they weren't having these problems before the LIVE outage or for some other reason. I'm not saying they are lying, just that they should make sure it's still a live issue.
I say we all complain if only to get some MS points instead of untertow. Believe it or not, microsoft, not everybody has the same taste in games..
I still am having problems and I am also in chicago
I've had some match connection drops and my dashboard has been stuttering STILL since xmas. Nothing that I plan to sue over, but it'd sure be nice if I could get a game I didn't already pay for.
On the dashboard; I've had a slow refresh ever since they updated.
This seems to be happening consistently on CoD4.
About 9/10 times the host is disconnected, I'm disconnected, my friends in the party are kicked and do not show up in the game lobby, or the game just freezes.
I'd be fine then, it'll disconnect and take forever to reconnect for me :P. But at the moment I'm not to worried about it, I don't have any multilayer games yet.
Oh course this all could be due to the fact that it's connected through my computer's wireless connection and not using its own Wireless adapter (100 bucks not thanks.)
Mine finally seems to be working A-Ok.
Still though I wish MS would have given just fucking 800 pts instead of Undertow since I already own that game along with a load of other folks. Would have saved those tits at MS who made the decision the headache customer support is going to go through with folks like us.
Undertow sucks. I want points or a free month or two.
I have had some dashboard slowness and i get a error code when i try to look through the marketplace here in the Chicagoland area. But i played COD4 for about 3 hours today without any problems.
CoD 4 is very broken.
Team deathmatch wasn't finding matches, was REALLY laggy when it found them, or booted me out.
Team sabotage worked great though. forced me to try something new i guess.
Of topic, has anyone had any luck with microsofts customer support when they ask about why it wont let an adult download M or unrated content? I couldn't download the beautiful katamari demo for ever, but I complained and they fixed the rating on the store.
Is it legal for them to censor something like that? like having a tv pre configured by your cable company to only show tv pg programs, and when you call them, they say "oh just buy a new tv".
No issues in Chicago as of yet. Then again I haven't turned on my 360 in a few days so's I can get some work done.
@okenny :): Hmmm...I know how to unite the gamers about the Live issue.
Get Fox news to report on it.
All of a sudden, people will start crawling out of the woodworks to say how much Live having issues rocks, and that Fox can suck it.
@chillarmadillo: Exactly the problem I was having. I booted up Call of Duty 4 for the first time in a month just to constantly get dropped from my party, get disconnected from games and have matchmaking, for the most part, not work whatsoever.
Gears is working fine; then again it doesn't have this neato features.
Been fine, but it does take a "hair" like 3 or 4 seconds longer after exiting a game, or signing on, to load up the 3 blades.
Fine for ages and then tonight it kicked me out of gears online and wouldn't give me the dashboard for 10 minutes. Europe that is.
@MrMcdoobie:
It's especially annoying when you have a party of 3 people, and it can never seem to keep you all in the same party. I have learned that i should try and keep my party small with 2 people and stay on a private chat so I know if it booted the other person out.
I had dashboard lag for a bit, but everything seems to be working fine now.
I think it's probably about time to drop this...seriously.
Has anybody had any NAT issues while playing Halo 3 (matchmaking) it won't let me join a party of people who don't have an open NAT, and they are all people I have played before. Probably not a Live issue, but wondering if anybody else has had this problem...
Its working. Albeit still a little lucky on the refresh rate on the dashboard.
I thought everything was fixed, but then I had a good deal of trouble with Call of Duty. Difficulty starting games, when they did start they were lagging and getting disconnected. Halo 3 was also slow. Not terrible problems, but you can tell Live isn't completely back to normality. I'm not terribly worried about it though, I think Live is essentially fixed. Just a couple of bugs here and there.
Not had any problems for a while now.
Mines is working alright aside from a few hiccups here and there. Can't get into any GHIII matches at all atm though. It'll probably clear up soon. I wonder why MS couldn't have just given us the 800 points and let us get what we wanted.
still having some troubles in NJ - mostly matchmaking issues and sudden "hiccups" where I just get bumped from a lobby. Logging in just fine, downloading things just fine.
No idea if this is related or not, but I've been trying to download the Dead Rising demo for five days now with no luck -- any suggestions?
I'm still having consistent Dashboard slowness. I got kicked out of XBoxLive two nights ago while playing. That was at 4am, so don't tell my wife.
A free game would be fine if live was down for like a week or so, but after that they should compensate users for the time lost (i.e. 1 month in this case).
The biggest problem for me is the dashboard. It is ridiculously slow to the point where it's not usable. If I boot up the XBOX without a game it takes a good 15 minutes to load up the initial dashboard menu. Matchmaking works well in COD along with voice chat, but the dashboard is extremely sluggish. Terrible, terrible...sure we get a free game but my question is if 50% of the users will be able to even access the marketplace to download it!
My dash takes about five-ten minutes to load at all times and Marketplace seems to be spitting out error codes here in CT
Same here I'm having problems with the dashboard cant load the blades.
I'm not having any problems. I downloaded the first two episodes of Sarah Connor Chronicles and the demo for Frontlines last night.
The guide menu takes about 20 seconds to open and close every time I hit the guide button.....hope they're prepping a free Goldeneye for our troubles!!
I had trouble recovering my gamertag yesterday. It took 4 tries before it worked.
I've been having problems with my dashboard, and both me and my roommates are having matchmaking problems also.
Live has been a bitch lately. It said my NAT is Strict (even though the router is fully configured according to their help pages) and disconnects me after 5 minutes.
No Undertow for me. :(
I prefer 50 points, so I can finally buy something with the 50 points I have.
I'm in Chicago too, and things are laggy at best.
In TN, now that I think about it, I get dropped from XBL an average of once per movie I watch, the dashboard loads slowly, and CoD multiplayer is fraught with peril.
Nothing turning the 360 off and going upstairs to read won't fix, though.
Southern California is still iffy, nothing in the marketplace would load for me today and the dashboard is hit or miss. Been like this since Christmas. Blah
No problems with matchmaking for me. Dashboard has been loading faster than normal, though. Also haven't had any problem with initial login for a week or so. It's a nice change of pace.
Dashboard is very slow to load when connected to xbox live. Still get Connection Interrupted messages quite frequently in CoD 4 multiplayer.
No problems since January 9th.
I'm here in H-town Texas, and the dash has been a bit laggy for me lately. Often it takes a minute or so to load up the pictures on a page. Regardless, all of my games have been running as smooth as butter on live. Now back to some COD4.
Today I kept being signed out of Live at random about once every hour or so. It started to get annoying while playing Halo 3.
For those people complaining about COD 4 ending in host connection. If you actually look at the connection lists when that happens, everybody has 1 red bar except for the host. The majority of host ended matches are when people with slow connections get put in an open room and then they try to host a game which ends for everybody in disconnection.
I have been playing COD 4 fine for over 2 weeks now.
It has hit 1 month, some say since the big patch and Halo3. Are people still thinking this is acceptable, that question goes to the people with problems.
Chances are these are people experiencing pre-RROD symptoms before it finally dies.
Seriously, I had my friend bring over his 360 and there hasn't been much but a little bit of stutering on GOW and a cuple of matchmaking lag on Halo3.
On the flip side PSN has been working great today as well ;)
My friend hasn't been able to recover his account all night.
It's been a month of crappy XBL Services. Although I am connecting fine, I do get a lot of slowdowns and disconnections too....
Why have people been trying to recover accounts when MS has been warning against this for weeks?
