Street Fighter IV isn't just ready for sexy, 2D meets 3D videos, but for real gamers to actually play. Project Manager Natsuki Shiozawa announced on her blog that SFIV will be playable (at some level) at the AOU 2008 Amusement Expo this February in Japan's Makuhari Messe. You know Makuhari Messe as the home of TGS, and there's little doubt that after the media day on Feb 15, fans will stand in crazy-absurd lines for a little Shoryuken action.
As for me, stuck in the cold, lonely Midwest, dreading the release of SFIV after getting pwnd in SFII by Gizmodo's Jason Chen last week. All these years I thought that Chun Li was invincible.
Street Fighter IV Going Playable [ign]

the thighs are a lie?
A demo would be nice for us to download...quite simple. Brings MGS4 to mind. Didn't they have a perfectly fine "trial" (playable) version (demo) ready for TGS 07? Well, hopefully they'll launch a demo onto the market at some point.
DOH! and I miss this by one year. If this was last year, I could have traveled 10 miles to go to Makuhari Messe, now I'm stuck in the midwest, too. :(
At least when _I_ make this snide, "If it was for real gamers to actually play, it wouldn't be 2D meets 3D," comment, I'm being ironical.
HADOUKEN HADOUKEN HADOUKEN!
What are the chances we see SFIV before SSSFIITHDRM?
@Candlejack: i agree MGS4 is near complete.... wheres the demo?
@BloggyMcBlogBlog: im asking myself the same question. if SSFIITHD doesnt come way before SF4, there's no point in coming at all. the novelty would wear off quick.
I used to work next door to Makuhari Messe! Damnit! Piss! Bob Saget!!
Natsuki is a girls name. Are you sure Natsuki Shiozawa is a "he" Mark?
@zanzibarlegend: @Candlejack:
They announced there wasn't going to be a demo only to make sure that the game was finished on time for release of summer.
God I cant wait for this game. All those years of praying have finally paid off.
@zanzibarlegend: Yea, the game itself is finished already. They're ironing out the bugs right now.
BTW I was talking about this: [img524.imageshack.us]
@Candlejack: No demo = confirmed.
You know, I seem to be more excited about the PSN/XBLA version of SF2 HD. Maybe I'm just crazy and this will grow on me.
$490 ROUND TRIP TICKET ON NORTHWEST...
NOT TOO BAD
I remember driving 5 hours to play the first VF3 in the US
@Candlejack: nice picture there buddy. hope to see that screen at a psn ner you.
@Shindokie (psn and xbl): i'm aware of the reason, i'm just being bitter..:)
@laterthanyou: you sir are a fiend, and for that i salute you:)
@zanzibarlegend: One can always dream right ;)
this will bring back so many fond memories once released
@Candlejack: @zanzibarlegend: It was announced a while back that their wasn't going to be a MGS4 demo [www.1up.com]
@zanzibarlegend: @Candlejack: Konami doesn't have plans to release a demo. This was stated a while back.

Double posted sorry....
@PwningForFun: No worries. And cheers for the link.
Chun Li + Guile = ultimate team
And yes, I'm expecting Guile to be in this game.
fighting game industry needs to learn to call it quits when you're all out of ideas...be it street fighter, mortal kombat, tekken or soul caliber.
geez, you can say the same to smash bros...but at least that one still hasn't come close to jumping the economical shark; therefore they can justify the sequels. Also, that game is very much unlike the rest...so its once-a-console release schedule will last a long long time even though they peaked a long time ago.
A fighting game is simple, one human player vs one human player in a battle. Fighting games CAN BE so interesting and interpretive...yet you get more of the same literal sf2 cloning.
Nice, I can't wait for the first impressions :)
When can we download a demo?
@CyberSkull: On the Phantom.
@PlayingKarrde: Natsuki can be either. There's a jazz artist named Natsuki Tamura who's fairly well-known, and (presumably) is packing penis.
@P4P:
you have a LOT to learn... that's all I can say
My first game on arcade ws Street Fighter II. My first game on SuperNes was Street Fighter II. My first game on next gen fight game will be Street Fighter IV. I can't wait for the final release !
@P4P: I wish I could flame you until your monitor caught fire.
@Topic: I need to get a ticket to Japan, fast!
P4P: fighting games are not dead. They have been relegated to a niche market, but they are having a resurgance. In the U.S., the EVO tournaments are increasing in size. In Japan, they have always been there in the non-extinguished arcade market, and the Tougeki tournament has helped put fighting games in the spotlight.
The rest of your comment just shows that you have no idea of how complex a _good_ fighting game can be. A shitty fighting game is as irrelevant as your Nth Cruisn' clone, but a good fighting game is ageless. There is a reason why even today Super Street Fighter II Turbo is played competitively despite being so simple in mechanics. It is to fighing games what is StarCraft is to RTSs.
What platforms is this going to be on?
I think fighting games are a bit limited these days. Where's the story?
