I've never gotten into the Bourne movies (I know, I really should, and I will watch them one day), but to those who have, Sierra/High Moon Studios' Bourne Conspiracy for 360 and PS3 will lift already lifted its skirt a little bit tonight last night on G4. X-Play aired never-before-seen in-game footage during an interview with lead game designer Rory McGuire for you to get all the Bourne fill that you can.
UPDATE: Blasted RSS! This aired last night (in the US at least).

I like the Bourne films, but translating them into a game sounds like a hit and miss idea to me. You'd have to walk the fine line between dying in one shot ala realism, or taking 20 shotgun shots to the chest ala general gaming universe.
I saw this last night on X-Play. Honestly it didn't look all that great. And you could tell the by the look on Morgan's face that she didn't think so either. But being the good host, she talked up the game as best she could.
@Tempestora: That's the point...they're not. They're translating the book into a game. The game doesn't even follow the storyline of the first Bourne movie.
i haven't watched the Bourne films yet either!
i've been meaning to of course...it just hasn't happened yet though.
how can you take the excitement out of G4? Bring back Tech Tv then we'll talk.
minus that though.
>_<
I got the full set of movies for x-mas. I wasn't a huge fan of them...at first. Now having seen them all in context and getting past the whole "Shaky Cam" thing. I really enjoyed them, I hope the game can do it justice Jason Bourne is a badass.
@Candlejack: Ah, that'll teach me to do my research before running of my big stupid yap. Thanks a plenty. However, if they WERE to make the films into games and made it into some strange Gears/Splinter Cell hybrid i'd be pretty much sold as I love Bourne and his inability to die.
my coworker let me borrow bourne identity.. haven't seen it yet. btw, that skirt-lifting analogy is getting tired.
The films were good. I have close to zero interest in the game though.
It's too bad...I'm willing to bet it will follow the same route as most movie games, movie games that don't get the license to portray the actor's face as well.
@Candlejack: I'm guessing you have not read the book then. The first movie is the only Bourne movie to follow the book somewhat closely. After that they seperate greatly only using certain aspects of the book in the movie storyline. So if the game is based on the book it will resemble the first movie in quite a few aspects.
Bourne serious was pretty good, although I really got into them after the second one (the first one was just okay). Not expecting much from the game though :o/
@Hiero Glyph: I meant that they aren't putting all the elements of the first movie into the game. There will be more of the story before the amnesia. At least they said that in an interview.
And by "book" I meant that they aren't e.g. designing the protagonist after Matt Damon.
Wasn't XIII already a "Bourne" game?
The game is based on the comics,
and the comics are based on the Robert Ludlum's Bourne Series.
Are they re-running the show from the 14th? Or is the lead game designer coming back because of a high demand for more in-game footage?
It wouldn't surprise me if this was a rerun... they tried to cram so much crap into this new format, that it's going to be tough to make a new (half-hour) show every day.
@Garo:
No it wasn't. They author of XIII borrrowed many elements from the Bourne books (much like how Tarrantino rips, then uses the borrow card). With that said, it was never based on Bourne.
@Candlejack: I stand by my decision that you need to actually read the books (all three of them, and even the co-authored ones) before making a statement about the storyline of the books.
You lost me when you said "book" and Matt Damon in the same sentence.
Saw it on the podcast this morning, and it looks decent - until they show the hand-to-hand combat. It looks like they're trying to make it look like the last two films with the ultra-fast camera cuts. While that looks kind of slick in the films, it looks pointless in the game.
I saw all the Bournes and the last one has got to be the worst one. Out of focus, shaky camera, confusing chase scene. It was a disappointment from the previous 2.
You're not missing a whole lot...the first movie is pretty good, the second tried, but the filming, especially during action scences wasn't so great. Partially because of this I haven't caught the third, but from what I've been hearing....
@Hiero Glyph: What? Did you actually read my sentence then?
It's pointless to argue over this, since I admittedly didn't read the books - I am only giving you what I heard from the source, the game developers. If you can't understand that then fine, but I won't argue about this fact.
Yeah, it was on X-Play last night. I wasn't too impressed but I'm hoping this was just an early build of the game. I hated the dot for a cross-hair that they used just like in the Kane & Lynch demo/game. I hope they fix that up too.
This was on Mondays show I believe. Tuesday featured "Left 4 Dead"....Tonight= DMC4. I have to say this segment has been the best part of the x-play transition so far.
the new x-play format sucks after years and years of having a season pass to x-play on my tivo the first new format episode had me kill the season pass.
G4 needs to go away now.
Jason Bourne is one of my favorite literary characters of all time. The books are awesome as fuck. It seems a little off to just have him in the middle of a giant firefight though. His M.O. is more blending in and being the ultimate superspy type character. If they really wanted to make an authentic Bourne game, the gameplay of something like Hitman would be ideal, though not necessarily focused on assassination. Lots of open ended ways to achieve the goal without getting spotted, and things only hit the fan and get crazy if you're seen.
is it me or does the picture above look like a stage on Gears of War? I forgot the name of it since I haven't been playing it in a long time
Meh.. The camera that kept jumping around was annoying when just trying to watch the video. I can only imagine how bad it's going to be when trying to play the game, "AI" or not.
@JRB: Agreed on the him walking through a giant firefight part. That definitely feel very Bourne like.
To everyone else, I actually thought the hand to hand combat sequences were pretty cool... but maybe I'm just a sucker.
Ugh... meant to say, "That definitely doesn't feel very Bourne like"...
proofreading ftw.
John Clark > Jason Bourne
They should make a Without Remorse game, that would be sweet.
This came on Monday, last night was about Left for Dead and tonight they review the expansion pack to Supreme Commander.
I saw all three this morning. Then this clip shows up. I love the series. Not once has he used an assault rifle or even fired his sniper rifle in the second film. He used a shotgun in the first to distract a sniper. He has one fight scene per film that lasts about 3-5 min each. This game better me hella fun because it damn sure isn't accurate. Matt Damon not being the star of the game is already a let down.
By the way, if you want a Bourne video game, the closest you'll get to one is Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction. That looks better and more like what a Bourne game should be like. I know people would agree.
@JRB: I totally agree with you. Idk, I hope thee guys get to read this blog and every one's thoughts on their game.
@Interstella5555: The series is superb and it only got better after every sequel. Professional reviewers would agree...
For all the talk of the camera work, if you watch it during that video and imagine the camera jumping like that for 12 hours of gaming... guh! Sickening.
This looks to be disappointing. Reminds me a lot of how the Minority Report game looked, though I never actually played it after seeing a general negative outlook on it.
Not impressed at all.
I watched this episode. The graphics and action looked pretty good, but people will hate the camera. Absolutely hate it.
atleast the camera can't be worse than in the movies...
There's something wrong with a Bourne game where you can run around in the open and take like 20+ bullets before dying.
The Bourne concept is there, but to make it look like the movies they have to ratchet it up another ten levels with the camera angles and the brutality and the speed. Two was the weakest of the trilogy, and three just might be the strongest.
@Candlejack: So if I say your name, you'll come floating by and kidnap me? Somebody turn on the Scream-o-vision.
The gameplay for Bourne looked OKish for fistfights, and a little lousy for gunplay. I did enjoy Darkwatch, so hopefully this game wins as well.
Story shouldn't be much of a problem, seeing as they're basing it on the book. Though, the way they deliver it could be lacking. We'll just have to wait and see!
The camera looked schizo, and the graphics looked pretty blah. i know it's a work in progress, but it looks to be destined for the bargain bin.
I hope I'm wrong, a good brawler would be nice, but I'm not getting my hopes up for a movie game.
Yeah this could go either way - might be a breath of fresh air, might be the complete opposite.
the animation sucks. this game is gonna tank.
Would anyone else be disappointed if Moby's "Extreme Ways" wasn't the song used for the ending credits of the game?
Fuck I hate the G4 player. On any computer ever it loads like shit.
Bourne taking 30 bullets without flinching and fighting five guys with each waiting for their turn to get their neck broken is not my idea of fun.
looks alright but the graphics didn't really impress me, they kept saying "oh ahh it looks good" but I hope they were not talking about the graphics. Anyway, the fights kinda reminded me of the matrix game (don't remember the title).
