We've been hearing rumors of an Xbox Live Arcade port of Duke Nukem 3D for many, many moons now. According to a report from IGN today, the long moon-watching wait may soon be over, as "sources close to 3D Realms" are pointing to a Duke Arcade release within the next several months. That XBLA remake is also said to come equipped with 4-player online co-op and 8-player deathmatch. Sounds good to us. We know that something has to pay the electric bill at 3D Realms while the final decade of spitshine is applied to Duke Nukem Forever.

2008! The year of Duke Nukem!
Hmm. That'd be cool, I guess . . . but I will concede it's a little hard to be excited about a game I played, beat, owned in, and got tired of almost a decade ago.
Screw Duke I want BOND!! GIVE ME BACK MY GOLDENEYE!!!
That would be pretty cool. Not Goldeneye but still allright.
Sweet.
This just in: Nintendo puts halt to Duke Nukem!
awesome
Appeasement through Goldeneye plz.
I feel the same way about GoldenEye that I do about Duke Nukem.
I'm gonna rip off your head and sh*t down your neck.
@SithNinja:
i heard dat.
WOOHOO Duke Nukem! I loved that game.
Instant buy.
Gotta love when Duke takes a dump on the last boss and starts reading the newspaper. Classic.
.yawn.
Goldeneye doesn't touch this game BTW.
Im gonna remote pipebomb all you motherfuckers. ;D
Possibly the first FPS I ever tryed. If I ever get a Xbox 360, It's a buy. :)
Awesome....
Always bet on the Duke
I heard about a petition that was started for Golden Eye but I think the only way to realy be "heard" is to stop purchasing MS points and download nothing from XBLA till Golden Eye is on there.
Ugh Goldeneye. When that game was 'big', I was playing a little game called Quake. After playing Quake, I was confused over the hooplah over Goldeneye.
Duke3D blows Goldeneye away. Gimme Duke!
@DigitalHero: That was the second boss. Duke kicks the eyeball of the last boss through the goal of a football field.
@SithNinja:
No.
My good friend Natural Death is the best player in this game.
It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum. And I'm all out of gum.
@FrigidAir44:
It may have been the last boss for me due to playing the shareware version. LOL
I loved this game when I was a kid, especially the strippers :P
But I fail to see this being something exciting year 2008, as much as doom 1 or 2 would be. It is old, the nostalgia would cost 10dollars and last 10seconds.
FPS is one of those genres to me where old just doesn't=classic.
@Witzbold: *gasp* Such language ... still, the strippers seem to dig it.
@Klaymen: I'd jump on your yawning at the Duke, but the Neverhood name and avatar redeemed you. :P
@Witzbold: My favorite trick: In Farenheight, place a lazer tripwire in the little medkit closet.
KABOOM!
Good times!
Woooo! let's beat down a genuine effort and demand something legally impossible! Whoopee!
"Hail to the King"
This is going to be awesome!
Great. Just as long as it doesn't induce motion sickness like XBLA Marathon.
Still want Goldeneye.
I still own the ORIGINAL Duke Nukem 3D. :P
There was many of good laughs playing Duke with buddies via TCP/IP back in the day...
And many sorrows for friends too pompous to leave Doom and play Duke with us!
Pipes bombs were funny as shit!
Now I know I am going to be annoyed with the new Duke look of the Doom 3 engine, and it will look like Prey, etc ... who am I kidding, I will be first in line buying it!
Hell yeah, Duke Nukem is a classic
now, I hope to see Hell on earth in XBL soon too...
@Roadkill:
So do I, I also got the Windows version with Shadow Warrior (Whoooooo wanta some Waaaaang) on the disk as well!
So what would the ESRB rating be on THIS particular game? :-P
@FrigidAir44: The thing that was great about Goldeneye was it was like a mini LAN party, but only needing one machine and 1 monitor. My friends and I would play little variants, like giving everyone the least health possible and pistols only settings. Yes, it wasn't quake, but it was fun!
To me, Duke Nukem 3D is the best first person shooter out there. (Shadow Warrior was amazing as well!)
To all who haven't played it, get the shareware version and (if you want) the slow loading high resolution pack, and you will have good times for... well, ever, really.
@Irenicus-the one and only: I'd be willing to bet they will take the Strippers out, along with the peeing interaction with the toilets. We live in such sheltered times, who knows what kids would do now-a-days if they can do it in a video game. "Tonight top story: 19 year old massacre's exotic dancers after giving them dollars. Video Game to blame". Though I do love my classic Duke, I might just have to resurrect my old dos copy to get the real experience.
I think the best item in the game was the holoduke.
Good lord many laughs were to be had with that!
[twirls finger]
All this old FPS talk makes me want this even more. I pray for the day they announce Outlaws for XBLA.
I love this game and am THRILLED! GWAAAAAH!!
@Witzbold:
Oh man, the memories ... that game was freakin hilarious, Shadow Warrior too with it's over the top antics and stereotypes!
@Roadkill:
Hell yes so do I. I think i'll give it a go again tonight.
That would be awesome. If GoldenEye 007 was never released for the XBLA(hopefully it will be) and Duke Nukem 3D was released for the XBLA, I'd be satisfied.
Duke Nukem 3D is one of my all-time favorite first-person shooters. I've spent so many hours playing that game and want to play it again, but my computer isn't slow enough to even run it. So being ported to the XBLA may be everyones chance to play the legendary classic fps again!
@opt2not: If that gets taken out, oh boy, I would be sooo mad it ain't funny.
@Myst3r1o:
but my computer isn't slow enough to even run it.
So darn true ... ironically!
Oh yeah, I also own the original Duke Nukem 3D, plus the expansion packs, but like I said... don't have a computer slow enough to even run the game. Or maybe my laptop will run it. Will have to try it out tonight. haha
@EnigmaNemesis: Like I still got Lemmings tribes and other stuff I wanna play but my PC won't let me :(
@EnigmaNemesis: Yeah, ain't that crazy. haha
@Myst3r1o:
Duke nukem 3D does have Ports so you can run it under Windows Vista and XP
if anything a slow PC would i no way would be able to run that ;)
High res texturse and 3D models, but of cours those can be turned off to enjoy the 2D goodness
