Just look at Level 5 go! The company behind those Professor Layton games, ponied up for slapping its name on a soccer stadium for J League team Avispa Fukuoka. For US$287,000 a year, the J League stadium will be dubbed "Level 5 Stadium." The contract is for a three year lease, starting March 1, 2008 and ending February 28, 2011. Says Fukuoka major Hiroshi Yoshida:
I'm very happy about Level 5's decision. Fukuoka's position in the gaming industry is rising every year. The involvement of the youth is increasing. The meaning of this naming rights is that Fukuoka is putting greater effort in the gaming world, and this is a symbol of that.
Another interesting thing to consider: This year, Level 5 is releasing a soccer RPG called Inazuma Eleven for the Nintendo DS. If anything, this stadium seems to be a very, very clever marketing ploy.

Hurrah for Fukuoka! Hopefully this will get Level 5 even more press than they usually get. I watched a TV program a while back that toured around their offices and I must say the football game they have coming out looks rather nice.
Out of all the games Level 5 has made, you picked Professor Layton?
Hmm, pretty neat idea.
I can has Rogue Galaxy themed stadium?
Cool, and this has never been done before either has it?
Now the football, not soccer... pfff americans, rpg I hope comes out in the west too :)
Ah, I guess this is one of the honors of developing a Dragon Quest game. A soccer stadium named after the company, and a chance to make a Soccer RPG.
...
why?
bleh.. put that quarter million into finishing white knight story sometime this year
Oh, cool! Although I live in Fukuoka, I've never been to the Avispa stadium. Come to think of it, I don't even know where it is. :S
Does the stadium have 5 levels of seating? Because that could get confusing.
I wonder if they're going to localize it. A soccer RPG made by Level 5 sounds like my favorite kind of crazy.
You know, with all the ridiculous stadium and arena names around the world (PNC Bank Park, Quicken Loans Arena...ugh) this one isn't that bad.
