Destructoid's dashing Nick Chester has discovered that Gamestop is currently listing an upcoming peripheral called the Rock Band Stage Kit by Performance Design Products. According to the side of the box (the image of which has suddenly been removed from the Gamestop website) the kit is an "interactive light and smoke stage show" that will accompany your most frenzied Rock Band performances. You can pre-order it now in anticipation of it's posted release date of June 26 for $99. Could this be the rumored "big Rock Band news" we've heard tell about?

Now you can set your house on fiyah!
Wow and I thought wii peripherals were bad.
Let me know when there's a crowd surfing accessory.
Sweet, I can do my own Pepsi commercial.
Wow, I can't wait for the slew of Youtube videos featuring middle-aged, balding men (now with over-expensive smoke) that think they can actually play music.
I mean, you can hit sticks on a drum and on screen you'll either do well or badly, same with guitar.
Singing, on the other hand...
Oh this is definitely it Flynn.
How much does that make then, like, $300 to play one game with all the accessories? And I thought I was crazy to buy a new HDTV & 5.1 to max out the MGS4 experience. But I got a full blown gaming console by doing that at least. This.....is just useful for a single game.
Let me know when there is a groupie accessory...
On second thought that's just wrong...
On third thought maybe not so wrong.
@zerbrechen: Can of worms opened? check.
@Deadeyereborn:
Zing!
But seriously, this is a ridiculously useless add on. I'd rather have the 8-in 1 add on weapon pack for the wii, and try and fit it on my xbox 360 controller for maximum performance.
Ouch. 99! Thats...well expensive. And not really a great addition (in my opinion). I dont even have the game xD, but if I were to buy it, I wouldnt want this peripheral..
@Deadeyereborn: I still think Wii peripherals are worse than this...yeah.
Ok now this is just getting slightly out of hand.
And the most useless high priced accessory is...
Next up: Rock Band groupies and whores entourage service! Also includes cocaine and real paramedic service for OD's!
I wonder if wii add on sales surpass game sales I think they might.
........YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.
Thats it I'm getting into some parachute pants, banbanas, and fishnet! I am going ON TOUR LIVE BABY! Who is with ME! WHO WANTS TO BE IN A BAND THAT WILL MELT YOUR FACE!!
Anyone? Anyone at all...
what ever happened to the effects pedals that were suppose to come out for guitar hero, the guitars still have the port for them.
Maybe if they release some good songs...FALSE.
@-EDGE-: WOOOOOOO! YEAH! LETS ROCK THIS MOTHER DOWN!
What better way to be a rockstar in the comfort of your own home without a light and smoke stage kit? It's something every music based rythym game shouldn't do without!
Rock Band is the greatest game ever.
What else would one expect from the shallowest of gaming gimmicks but the shallowest of gaming gimmicks?.
If you spill that smoke liquid it will stain your carpet. This is hillarious though, taking drunk Rock Band to a new plateau.
@Deadeyereborn:
You know a good keyboardist? Cause this one guy I know has been strung out since the 80's. And Lord knows if we are going on tour we NEED a keyboardist!
... why!??! I mean, you're playing to a TV -- pretty much, the TV is your audience. Does the TV get more enjoyment out of a smoke & light show???
Rock band drums are amazingly fun but thats about it
I think this is all one giant plan backed by the music industry to eliminate up-and-coming, original talent from the music market, so that they can keep spewing out crap that people will have no choice but to buy.
"You can make music without REALLY making music! It's easy! Just buy Rock Band!"
The lights are actually pretty cool, if they work with the music. I could do without the smoke machine. I have my own, it's called a blunt.
Im gonna keep my money until they create a beer bottle launcher for when you fail songs, it hurls them at you! Imagine the realism!
man!!!!!!!!!! i found that like 3 days ago....
i got owned!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Witzbold: I'd pay to watch that, actually ^_^;
@Witzbold:
Hehe, you sooo just reminded me of that scene from the Blues Brothers. Now I want to "Download" the theme from Raw Hide!
@Witzbold:
Would it stop firing the bottles if you played Rawhide?
you can get strobe light and fog machine at Spencers in your local mall for $20 each...
yeeesh....
slap on Rock Band on cheap lights and fog machine and think people will buy them?
LOL for 100$ ... i could buy so many FUNNIER games with that money
I only see wealthy people with nothing to do getting this add on. This sounds just like the kind of item my friends and I would purchase just to have fun, money being no object.
Honestly, why are people hating on Rock Band? The game is fun with a few friends or at a party as long as some jackass doesn't try and break something. When I play it with friends I don't imagine I'm in a Rock Band, shit, I'm making fun of my girl and her singing.
Oh and the add on is pretty dumb, I forgot to add that.
@Strangelove: The Rock Band Bunker?
Man, and I thought non-make-believe roadies were a sad bunch.
This is certainly not the 'big news.' I have it on pretty good authority (read: I just made it up) that the 'hair sculpting fan' accessory kit is soon to be released for the follow up expansion: HAIR BAND!
All kidding aside, I sure hope that this is compatible with HALO 3. The smoke and light kit, that is; the fan would just be goofy with HALO.
Somehow i imagine this to be like... A couple of weak lights... Some wisps of smoke.. Cables you have to jiggle to get a good connection..
Actually all of Rock band makes me think of that. I have some kind of odd apprehension towards it. I guess it's partially the abandonment of the score attack mentality (which i adore about GH), but also because i just know there's no way in hell i can get enough friends in on it to make the most of the game. I don't even have room at my apartment to support it.
Sigh.
I want Nerf guitars that you can smash all you want and make a smashing sound.
Can't they just create a guitar that allows me to fire bottle fireworks out of the neck like I'm a member of KISS instead?
@Double J:
Hmm. Bottle fireworks. My brain apparently couldn't decide which direction I wanted to take that comment...
Come to think of it, a double neck guitar would be cool! ;)
@dunetiger: Out of all the comments I've read in awhile that one made me laugh the hardest.
My friend'll probably get it to waste more money, but oh well as long as it isn't my money I don't care.
This fog and light show seems most ideal for businesses hosting Rock Band tournaments. If you set it up so that only the players could see the tv it would look pretty authentic. Hopefully they are going to program the smoke and lights for each individual song so that it matches up. On the other hand, downloadable songs will end up taking more time to create, possibly making prices higher.
If you can program your own light shows, or it syncs with the music from the game then hell yes. Otherwise, no thanks. Personally, I don't ever see myself buying this just because it's so impractical, but given the right circumstances......
I will not buy this, but I will try SO HARD to get my friends to.
okay its fun game, but i think nobodys really gonna take fake rocking it out this far.
@superjap:
I dunno man, there are a lot of bars everywhere starting to pick up on this trend ... and they actually have Rock Band/GH nights at them now.
Drunk people pretending to be Rock Stars go together like PB&J!
Save yourself a few bucks by buying colored lightbulbs and getting someone to blow cigarette smoke in your face while you play.
