SCi peaked with Carmageddon 1 in 1997. Since then -- meh.

@Tadashi: Yeah, it looks like she might wing the camera guy in the left shoulder, if he jerked just the right way when she fired, but even that would be dumb luck.

Is there anybody who really cares enough about the Tomb Raider IP to even care at this point? The games were OK, thats about the highest praise I can find for them. I guess its like DOA, the gameplay is secondary to the T&A in the end.

@DaiMacculate: Have you not played Legends or Anniversary? You couldn't be more wrong in the case of those games, now as for the games BEFORE those, yeah.

This is vague though, when they say 'Tomb Raider publisher' what does that even mean? I thought Eidos Interactive was the publisher for the games.

First DOA Xtreme and now Lara Croft. Just when developers and publishers thought boob physics were a sure thing. Soul Calibur IV better brace themselves for the worst if they're spending more time working on the jiggle accuracy of gigantic wobbly breasts than they are gameplay.

The last two Tomb Raider games have both been fantastic. Too bad people just aren't buying them anymore.

I really would hate to see Tomb Raider vanish. It's been on every system since Playstation 1. For Lara to fade into the wind would be a huge crime against gaming. Even if you weren't a fan of TR, everyone... EVEN MY MOM.... knew who Lara Croft was.

Someone buy it and get it on the Wii please! With a decent shooting mechanic that makes use of the remote.

Then Smash Bros. here we come! ;)

Me? Never really cared for the TR series. The first and second game were okay, but they both enjoyed far more praise than they deserved. Likely based on GREAT STONKING TITS.

@DaiMacculate: Legend was brilliant. One of my favourite games. Anniversary was good but clearly rushed in places. Could've done with another months worth of testing and glitch catching (falling into infinity, sometimes grabbing ledges when walking off the edge sometimes not etc.) Haven't played any of the others since Tomb Raider II.

This is not shocking at all, people stopped paying attention to Tomb Raider right after #3. It just took longer to catch up to them.

@Madeira:Dude, chill. Tomb Raider 1 and 2 were OK, but that was it. Same reason I'll not be getting Uncharted out of the used bin when I scoop a PS3 later this year, its just not my type of game. I didn't see where I said that me not loving it precludes you or anybody else from doing so. I will say that rereading my comment the DOA comparison was probably out of line, I don't hate Tomb Raider the same way I do that series.

I haven't played Legend so I'll take people's word that its better, but again I just don't care much for the Indiana Jones Archeologist w/guns adventure genre.

Well, I hope that they are able to get their act together. Legend and Anniversary breathed new life into the series for me. Additionally, the last issue of PLAY shed some light into the production of Tomb Raider 8, and I believe that Lara's future might justify her wearing shades again. Tomb Raider is about sexy, not sex. While the middle entries in the series were about Lara's cup size, it seems someone recalls that it is Lara's big brain that that puts the 'y' in sexy.

I get the feeling it's not actually TR that put them in this situation, but their other games no one can even remember. As others have said, Legend and Anniversary are actually good (unlike the ones between 2 and Legend), and while they certainly didn't break any records, they sold decently too.

If they do get bought out, I just hope it's not EA. :X

Eh I picked up Anniversary for a bargain price yesterday, look forward to trying it out this weekend. I hope it's great, because always had a soft spot for this series, was a fan of the first 3 and hated the way it went after that.

I just read some info on Tomb Raider Underworld in the new GFW. Sounds good so I hope this doesn't interfere with it too much.

Good, I hope they finally go bankrupt. As with the others here, the company that destroyed the Carmageddon series (now destroying Eidos even quicker) needs to go back to its roots and do shit properly... or go bankrupt and give another publisher the chance to buy the ip and make a decent third installation.

tomb raider has been revived by anniversary and legend. the second and third weren't much count and aod really doesn't count. but after legend and anniversary, my interest in tr has been brought back. cant wait for the new one coming up.
