Do you think Lucasarts and Namco Bandai throwing Star Wars characters into the Soul Calibur universe is a good thing? You, uh, might want to watch this trailer. If, however, you're too busy picking up the fragmented remains of your respect for either franchise, you might want to pass. It'll be for the best. Trust us.

There is just something so bad ass about hearing and seeing a lightsaber ignite.
WTB Lightsaber!
It doesn't have to make sense to be awesome.
Yeah, I just saw this. Its looking good
Wtf? they have enough characters to make a good game without digging up these guys....... Is this supposed to be a selling feature of the game?
@PKFC: it is. and it will.

I dont understand?
Why?
Are we that serious, where we can just have fun with games anymore?
on the brightside at least the characters no longer look like they are covered in a coating of laquer
Good god, Lucas will sell Star Wars to anyone that is willing to pay.
I'm surprised we don't have Star Wars condoms yet.
That is awesome :D
thats dumb, vader would rip right through the sword.
besides, thats the stupidest thing ive ever seen.
btw, was there any way to actually get a story out of the soul calibur games? because apparently theres a huge backstory that i never found in my rapings of sc2.
Shouldin't the lightsaber melt Mitsiriguis sword?
Shut your piehole, Plunkett. This reeks of complete AWESOME!
@EnigmaNemesis: QFT.
Again, what's with Ivy going all Goku on Raphael?
Oh oh.... crapped my pants...
I don't see how can you possibly relate both franchises, somehow the characters from SC2 made more sense, but once you see them on the screen it just looks awesome.
I personally got more excited about this game after looking at this video.
@EnigmaNemesis: I have to concur. I don't see what's so bad about the trailer. Sure it doesn't make much sense, but really does Spawn or Link really make that much sense either? I didn't see people complaining about Snake in SSBM so what's the big deal.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I thought that trailer was AWESOME!!!!!
If you don't like this, then I scoff at you. To your face. "You are no geek my good sir."
Completely awesome, I did not think they could top adding Link to the roster in Soul Calibur 2, but they just did!
Spaceballs the coloring book!
Spaceballs the breakfast cereal!
Spaceballs the flamethrower!
I can't stop laughing. part of me is excited at how retarded this is, and the other part is just happy to see soul cal 4 gameplay...all of me will buy the game, however.
@Jac21:
Maybe they use vibro-blade technology?
Or maybe it is just a game, and if we are too serious about everything in games, we just wouldn't play a thing.
@jabedoben: [theswca.com]
Yeeeeep.
That's well and beyond anything that I would have imagined possible. Not that SCIV wasn't being considered for purchase already, but this really puts SCIV in contention for my $60 at the time that it comes out. I just hope that it has good online play.
For those of you worried about consistency and continuity, lets all remember its a game. Have fun with it would ya ;)
@EnigmaNemesis: There is just something so bad ass about hearing and seeing a lightsaber ignite.
Too true!
Vader. That's too awesome.
At first, I was excited by the prospect of Star Wars characters in Soul Calibur!
Then I realized that it completely shatters any prospect of seeing a coherent narrative, which is something I actually liked about the series in the first place.
Then I remembered that I don't own an Xbox 360 or PS3.
I am sad.
Wonder what the back story is going to be like on the Star Wars characters.
"Darth Vader seeks the Soul Edge to resurrect Padme."
Oh well, Soul Calibur's story never made any sense in previous games haha.
looks awesome!
@darthmole12: That's because it's Snake's job to blend in everywhere.
Well I know a few character slots that are going to stay open...
It's funny when fighting games pretend to have stories.
God, Plunkett is such a negative Nancy. Video games are fun. Darth Vader in a fighting game = fun.
oh dear...
OH SNAP! That Rocked! I'm choking on corn but man, Its good to be a nerd.
@Anemone:
It better have good online so i can own you Anemone!!!! That's right. Everybody must get ready for my Darth Vader voice. This video sucks. It has given me video blue balls.
@Flowen:
/agree LOL
That gave me the douche chills.
story line shmory line.
vader fighting people is still awesome.
Fragmented remains indeed.
Jesus christ, this is quite a huge turn off from a game I was interested in. >_>;
@jabedoben: thats just silly, everyone knows that Star Wars geeks dont get laid.
I KID. I AM KIDDING!! Oh please dont rip me to shreds =(
@EnigmaNemesis:
I think Mr. Plunkett's a trifle upset that Vader is a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
There there now, young Plunkett. Just think of all the fun you'll have reversing fragmented sentences in a garbled Yoda voice whilst trouncing (or getting trounced by) your opponents as a little green man.
Sounds... cute.
I Don't see how that trailer is supposed to make us lose respect for the franchise. It's a fighting game, you weren't playing it for the story were you? If you were, point me to a single fighting game without a completely nonsensical story written by 4th graders. Huh? Oh right, there isn't one.
Vader and Yoda come from a galaxy far far away looking for the sword. Link comes through some portal or something from Hyrule looking for the sword. Spawn...I don't recall having any explanation whatsoever. I didn't play the PS2 one so I can't comment.
Yeah, anyone expecting a sensical story to any Soul Calibur game hasn't ever played a Soul Calibur game or any other fighter for that matter.
@KidU: Might I refer you to Masters of Teras Kasi? That unequivocally proved that Darth Vader in a fighting game = no fun.
Nintendo imported characters for Smash Bros... if this is inspired from that move then I think they totally missed the point.
I didn't see something like that coming from far left field, at all.
How anyone wouldn't be excited by this is beyond me.
If you guys can wait to see how Darth Vader fights i leave you with this
This is one of the most absurdly awesome things I have ever seen.
Pretty cool actually.
@Ruglia:
You were looking at Ivy's MOVES?
@judas04:
Wrong, that proved that game itself is no fun!
@The Bruce:
Soul Calibur 2 imported characters, long before Smash Bros.
@logicaldefense: "Darth Vader seeks the Soul Edge to resurrect Padme"
you, good sir, are a comedian. but that doesn't sound so far from Heihachi story in SCII:
"Heihachi finds a stone at a museum, gets transported back in time, competes for the Soul Edge."
@EnigmaNemesis: There is just something so bad ass about hearing and seeing a lightsaber ignite.
WTB Lightsaber!
Agree.
@Shindokie (psn and xbl):
ROFL that is too messed up!~
