German Site TeamFortress 2 has listed what they say are the 36 new achievements for the game's Medic class that Valve mentioned way back in last year.
Most of the Medic-centric achievements seem rather lackluster, more like gimmies than something you have to really work for, like helping with a capture or healing for a "long time." There are a couple of neat ones in there like the "killing a scout with the syringe gun achievement.

I'm kind of sick of TF2 ever since every single player started yelling at me for "PLAYING THE FUCKING GAME WRONG!"
:(
@HigglyPiggly: You must be doing something seriously wrong cause I've never seen any such thing
Meh. I don't care.
Nothing will stop me from playing a scout. Every other character class is too slow for me to enjoy.
@HigglyPiggly: ... maybe... you are playing the game wrong? Just a thought. Heavies shouldn't be punching all the time, medics shouldn't be healing snipers, and scouts shouldn't spend their time taunting in their intel room. Not saying you do those things, but they ARE ways to play wrong. After all, it isn't a single-player game, it is a team game. If you are on a softball team and you spend your time facing the wrong way and swinging, they are going to get pissed at you, no matter how much fun you are having.
Kinda seems like a lot of achievements for only one class, like WAY to many. I can see it now, an entire team of medics, what great times are to come.
@HigglyPiggly: I know what you mean. I had some kid on the other team yell at me for playing scout defensively. I think he was just pissed I was dominating him though
@Ghede: @Kyle81: No, I'm not doing anything wrong at all... I'm doing what I'm supposed to and I'm using the classes like I'm supposed to (engineer is my fav), I just get called a noob all the time.
@HigglyPiggly: It's called Xbox Live...get used to it. First time on Live by any chance?
@Ghede: It's just a video game, and interactive environment to - interact - with in any way you please. The only way you can even "play wrong" is if you tried to install the disk to a toaster or if you use hacks and bots to play the game online. So what if heavies punch all the time, etc. People can do as they please within a game, even piss off other players.
@krunkjuice: What says hes playing it on live...it is out for the pc u kno ^_^
Good reason to start playing TF2 again I guess. I was a little sick of it after a while, due to the persistent lag, and general lack of people.
These achievements are for the Xbox version or PC or what? The article didn't state, and I thought the Xbox ones were already set in stone since release?
@krunkjuice: Um actually I've had Live since the 360 launched, and since then it's degraded into pre pubescent kids and assholes who think they are better than everyone else but ruin the entire game for everyone.
It's too bad there'll be an influx of nubbish medics who are just searching for more achievements. I love playing medic, and a skilled medic can turn the team around.
Of course, 90% of the TF2 population is just interested in frags and high scores, and the nuanced gameplay of the medic might just be too much for them to handle. However, with good communication and a good teammate, I've gotten 1st or 2nd on servers with 32 players using the medic exclusively.
for those tht dont know these are PC only(so far)
@crecente you should add this little point to lessen confusion by some =)
@HigglyPiggly: It wasn't any better on the original XBOX....then again I mainly play Halos so I guess I'm a bit jaded by the amount of immature people that play that game. lol
@radkon1: Good point...if anyone is talking about assholes online I just assume it has to be on Live.
@alraydius: Some games had achievements added to them, but there usually need a reason to justify it. Oblivion had achievements added to it because the expansion was big enough to justify 250 more points. Final Fantasy XI had achievements added as it didn't have them on release.
---
@HigglyPiggly: That's why I mostly play with my headset muted and the volume off when I play with unknown players, and only activate it when I'm with friends.
@HigglyPiggly: It's called The Internet...get used to it. First time on The Internet by any chance?
Just kidding, but yeh, 99% of people on any online game are going to be assholes, and at least 99% of those are still assholes in real life. Anti-social ftw.
I dont see how all of these achievements will be added to the Xbox version of the game, and i dont even know if the PS3 has achievements or not.
I'm torn between the fact that all-in-all the achievemnts are kinda lack-luster, but the art work for each looks legit.
Those crazy Germans....you never really know if they're telling the truth or not!
@jajimo: Was there a reason for that?
@jajimo: Or were you just proving my point about XBLA?
That's pretty cool, considering I play exclusively as a Medic in TF2. Of course, not giving a shit about achievements, it's kind of moot.
Am I the only one who thinks these look like fakes? The achievement named "Invite join charge" sounds like it was spit out by the same machine that wants to sell me "Free V I A G R A CHEAP!", and the same image was already named "House Call" by Valve themselves. The images look legitimate, but the names sound really weak, but maybe it's some garbled German translation.
I wonder if any of these will be retroactively added. I haven't played anything but medic since release, so I'm pretty sure I'd have opened up almost all of these by now.
the world can always use more medics
@krunkjuice: ...The arcade?
And if we're talking about people being hyper-competitive to the point at yelling at their teammates, PC is just as likely. More, in fact.
oh yea, there was this one time we all co-ordinated a team to go all medic. the medic wall was surprisingly effective until the other team switched to nothing but spies and pyros.
I like Medics--the only quip I have with them is that I have to constantly hold my primary mouse button to keep healing someone... wish I could toggle it or something (there probably is a way, but I'm just too lazy to find out).
If it gets more medics, fine, but seriously - healing engies? That's not an achievement.
just some boring speculations
and acheivements ... come on, it's not the thing that will make this game special ...
Are these supposed to be coming to the 360?
It would be sweet as hell if it was. Give me some more achievements to earn on this fantastic game.
@Balmung576: I believe Valve said that they're going to have many achievements for all the classes.
Hmmm...I thought with the reduced charge during setup it wasn't possible to get Uber during that period anymore. Before you would just barely get it during the 30 seconds.
@Truepatriot:
Thanks for the clarification there, I figured it was PC Only, but I was asking to make sure.
@Guizzy:
Yeah, I've known about the additional achievement thing for awhile (isn't there a limit of 250 more points a game). I just thought it odd they would add so many achievements based on solely the medic for any additional points on Orange Box. Thanks for replying to my question though.
C'mon Pyro Achievements! I'd also like it if one of the Scout Achievements is Mr. 3000 (Get 3000 Bat kills) :D
@Waza:
Yeah these definitely look like guesses. The names aren't clever or even spelled right. Not to mention the descriptions aren't really helpful.
wow. i think i achieved all of these already.
My friend is ridiculous as a medic. He gets more kills than half the guys in the game, and helps the rest of us never die.
Maybe now people will play as medic. It suck to not have anyone heal you in the middle of a fight. And I think that simul-charge achievement is from having two medics heal someone.
@HigglyPiggly:
Playing the game wrong...lol
I had some guy, no less than 30 sec into a game tell me "Dude, stupid, you don't put sentry guns outside the intel room. Lame."
The thing racked up 22 kills before I decided to break it down and move it. Just goes to show how completely clueless the loudest of the bunch usually are.
Hapy to have some new achievements. Now, more maps please.
@KingGorilla: The SAME EXACT THING happened to me on the same map as an engineer!
@radkon1: Your lack of appropriate grammar is not helping with your implication that PC gaming is more grown-up.
@Serreah: The thing is that charge was increased during setup. Just a note to make.
achievement whores spamming as medics ... FUN!
/sarcasm
I love playing medic. I suck at uber though. Almost always waste it. I've never been too into achievements and find that when I pay any attention to them at all I end up paying more attention to them than to the actual game. (As in "Gehn (that's me, don't dis Myst), stop being scout, that sentry kills you five seconds after you spawn." "I don't care, I want my Head of Class and I'm not changing!")
Still though, having the game tell me how awesome I am at healing (but not ubering) is always great, so extra achievements are teh shiz.
I feel like those aren't the real names, but the images are probably legit. Pretty sweet they're adding that many achievements, and they'll most likely add that many for all the classes.
But as was said before, more maps please!
I can't wait to play a game of all Medics. That will be fun. As. Hell. OMG. ~_~ I'm the best Medic ever, so I'll pwn! :D
These are what 'achievements' should be used for. Valve is aware that these fake awards don't do anything, so they have made them do something: make people play the medic more. They've probably found that not too many people are using the medic, so they plop these in and you're instantly going to have more medics, at least for a while.
Whereas putting in an achievement for 1000 kills as a medic would NOT encourage anyone new to play as a medic, only reward players who already swear by the class.
