Not content to stand idly by and watch the events in the world of human politics unfold from afar, two of the star characters for the upcoming Wideload Pants political minigame title Hail to the Chimp are heading out to the Iowa Caucus to get a handle on things first hand.
Woodchuck Chumley and Crackers the Chimp (who looks suspiciously like a current, high-level politician, will be on location at the Iowa Caucus Thursday covering the latest news for "GRRNews.com". The live coverage also coincides with the launch of the game's official site.
Publisher Gamecock promises that the team of crack cosplay reporters will be delivering election polls, gossip, stock tips and interviews with candidates. Man, I hope they have a camera recording when they go for their first interview with a real politician. I can't wait to see the look on Hilary Clinton's or Mike Huckabee's expression when faced with a grown man dressed up as a Woodchuck wearing a fake hair piece and carrying a live microphone. If bullets aren't involved it should be priceless.

freaking awesome :) and i thought US politics couldn't get anymore comical.
Whaaaa?
I haven't heard anything about this game - guess I'll wait for the website launch.
Does anyone know how Gamecock is making the money to consistently do these stupid things? I know it doesn't take much, but so far this 'game developer' hasn't released anything but a bunch of 'PR stunts'
@Evdor: And Dementium, which was OK.
@syl1985:
Do a search here to find more info. They have a site set up already. The game seems like a joke if they plan on charging full price for it. It's better suited as a XBL/PSN download
I demand a debate between the chimp and the blue monkey.
CWUTIDIDTHAR?
Pogo the Monkey goes to the White House
If it involves bullets, it'll be priceless too.
Ron Paul sure is going all out to get the videogamer's vote.
Knowing Gamecock, once the winner at Des Moines is announced and a press conference is held they'll rush the stage and try to take the microphone away from the candidate.
Didn't they steal that title from a Simpsons episode?
@yashichi8bit: General Disaray: "SIMPSONS DID IT!"
Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich, of course, won't even bat an eye.
/wishes he was in Iowa to vote for Paul.
I saw a trailer for this. It looks like a top down smash brothers with random animals
Hmmm... that's the Texas capitol. When did they come to Austin?

iowa who?
I'm pretty sure the only people who think Gamecock is funny are other game developers.
If I were caucusing on the Republican side, I would caucus for Ron Paul, except he is anti-NAFTA.
As it stands, I am going to the Democratic caucus to see to it that neither Obama or Clinton come out on top (if that means voting for Edwards, so be it.) The number of ads on television for Obama and Clinton is 3:1 for all other candidates combined.
Meet the New Chimp, same as the old Chimp, THE WHO
I'm in Iowa and I will be attending the Caucus tommorow....not in Des Moines though.
I'm on the East side of the state.
Yaaaaa me.
@SUPERFOX
He is anti-NAFTA because he does not want the government to regulate trade to the extent that it does. The danger with this amount of control is that special interests can and do lobby the government for tariffs and prohibitive regulation (limits, protective rights etc) on certain import goods. This type of thing actually raises cost for consumers and limits their choices. He supports free trade.
@SuperFox: Not to be into a major debate on politics in a video game forum. But What is so good about NAFTA? I agree with free, tariff free trade NAFTA brings, but none of the restrictions, barriers ect ect that NAFTA does (i.e. the farm industry...)
Ron Paul is for free trade more then any over candidate. And I love his concepts of forcing the chinese to re-evaluate their currency to real levels (sorry Maggie, but Chinese's current is so under valued it's a joke)
Wow. This is the first Gamecock-related article I've read since their idiocy at the Spike VGAs and I actually felt my desire to kill rise upon reading the company's name.
Hah nice. This is pretty kick ass.
@Jay: As another game developer, I'll have to argue that. I think they're bringing us all down. They're like that annoying friend who tags along with you everywhere and you don't have the heart to let them know that their jokes aren't really funny.
Seriously, though. We as gamers and game developers want our medium to be left alone by the government. In order for this to happen, we need to be recognized as conscientious, concerned citizens, able to control our own products without government interference. Does this sort of juvenile asshattery really do anything to help the cause?
That looks an awful lot like a duck. Careful, Mike Huckabee loves to duck hunt (in lieu of duck hunting in Iowa he shot some quail). How much does he love duck hunting? He told the NRA that "he loves to duck hunt" and that he knows "that there will be duck hunting in Heaven!" No, I didn't make that up. He even joked about the lifeless birds lying by his feet that "they supported other candidates, and this was their fate". I guess that was funny to everyone except the poor birds who this man murdered for "sport" and photo-ops.
@Evdor: Gamecock isn't a developer, they're a publisher. The developer for Hail To The Chimp is Wideload Games, who previously developed Stubbs the Zombie. Oh, and a bunch of their guys are former employees of Bungie. These guys worked on total classics like Marathon, Myth and Halo. Yeah, Gamecock might be annoying, but the developers happen to kick ass. :)
Invading apes...reminds me of this Ape Escape ad from the UK ([gameads.gamepressure.com]). I don't think you could air this in the US...
@Evdor:
Maybe you should learn to read up before you try to pass yourself for having a brain. Gamecock media is a publisher NOT A DEVELOPER!
@dphrygian:
Excuse me, if you REALLY were a game developer you would certainly know Gamecock is a publisher and not a developer. A REAL developer should probably be better informed. : )
