If 2007 was anything, it was the year of the payoff. The hardware we invested our money into and the games we invested our hopes into finally returned with plenty of interest on the investments (OK, there was Transformers, Lair...look, this is a positive piece, ok?).
But even with plenty of hours worth of '07 AAA gaming left to play, I can already feel a postpartumesque depression on the way. I remember when Assassin's Creed was just an E3 demo hidden in the confines of insta-offices, and Mass Effect just a pile of screenshots saved in one of my "special time" folders.
So before I tear up over a mental montage of these games growing from infants to fine young men, I'm killing the sentimentality and returning to the lust/infatuation phase of gaming. What are you most looking forward to playing in 2008? (One answer apiece in the comments please...let's keep this interesting. Oh, and if you are a Kotaku reader, consider this assignment mandatory.)

I'm looking foward to Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy 13/vs, Little Big Planet, Fable 2, Alan Wake, and many other games. I put Metal Gear Solid 4 first because Hideo Kojima is one of the many geniuses in the industry . Add Yoshinori Kitase to the list too.
Would have to be Brawl.

I'm really into my 360, but this is reason I own a Wii. My bro won't play games against me unless he will win, so having the ability to play others in Smash will be amazing.
Right now, Advance Wars
MSG4, Smash: Brawl, FF13 (Japanese version *might* be out in 2008 :P), Little Big Planet, beta of Starcraft 2, and the one I'd like most to come out: Spore.
Super Smash Bros Brawl, hands down. Melee has kept my interest off and on (mostly on) from 2001 to 2008. Brawl will be an excellent heir to the throne.
Fallout 3 for the replay value!
There's a lot to look forward to but I'm gonna have to say MGS4 (even though I don't have a PS3 yet.)

I'm going to throw my chips in with Little Big Planet. As much as I lust for my omega-sequels (MGS4, GTAIV, FFXIII-Versus-Dojo-Accio!), LBP just seems so refreshing and different compared to our usual diet of gaming. I've snuck with Snake and capped a few fools, but I don't remember the last time I ran around in some ineffably magical environment with a bunch of pals controlling avatars created from shoelaces and coat buttons.
Sign me up!

I'd probably pick MGS:4. FF 13 then Fallout 3 and GTA IV a close second and third.

Biggest on my radar is unquestionably Fallout 3. I think Bethesda is putting so much care into the product that most people's expectations will be met. There are some odd fans of the series out there resisting any change whatsoever to the look and design of the original games. Welcome to 2008. And Happy New Year's everyone.
Brawl, No More Heroes, StarCraft II and hopefully the new Mario Kart pans out. Now announce a new Retro Studios development so I can add it to my list.
If we're assuming it'll be out by the end 2008...
