Want to see Street Fighter IV brawlers Ken and Ryu battle it out, but don't want to fast forward to the good stuff? GameVideos was nice enough to cull the one-on-one hadokens and shoryukens from their 1UP Show on the game, giving viewers a quick look at how Capcom's next looks in motion. A second, ever so slightly different movie is after the jump.
High def versions of both are available at GameVideos.

The videos don't work!
my god if you just look at the still of the first one it looks like Ryu has gone mad, mad I say mad!
My expectations for SF4 goes down every time new information is released. And this just brought it an all time low.
But i'm reserving my final judgement for when the game is out.
Looks like GameVideos is currently broken
Now it's fine >_>
These videos disappoint me because the animations look similar to the childish attempts of Twisted Metal: Small Brawl...why would they ruin such a beautiful thing.
videos don't work:

tubed linked again
Meh to the look. As for the actual combat, I wouldn't know.
the problem is your expectations are in the wrong direction, this is up to pare with what I believe a street fighter game should be, it's the original, nothing fancy, nothing overly stylish just a good game to enjoy
I still can't make a decision on how i feel about this game yet. I want to love it cause its SF but i just want to burn it into the ground with what I've seen so far. But I'll wait til I see this game somewhere near 75% done before i make my final decision.
Thanks for the youtube link! (gamevideos sucks major ass seriously). The gameplay doesn't look as bad as some made it out to be. It barely looks "next-gen" but I'd rather they stay as close to the classic as possible to be honest. The game looks fun. period.
@ssjmichael:
Thank You!
Well, suddenly I enjoy the graphics I disliked in the screenshots.
Well played Capcom, Well played...
Looks shiny, I wonder if it'll ever come out on the Wii... if not, I guess it'll be the PC version for me!
I just hope they fix Ryu's face and eyes...
Ken's face too.. They just don't look like Ken and Ryu...
@ssjmichael:
Always willing the help my fellow citizens. This game gives me wood.
Videos must work, but the 1up show usually goes up in the realm of 300+ MB per show so that is why maybe we cannot see it. I could be wrong but hey... i could also be wrong. In any case, a click on the player will get you to the gamevideos site where you could download other versions of it as well.
Ok, now note that I'm not complaining, because I'm happy to have these links, but why don't the video embeds from Gamevideos.com ever work? I mean, as a Mac user I'm totally used to having problems with random crappy media formats online, but the two different Windows PCs (one XP, one Vista Home Prem) I use on a regular basis and view Kotaku with can't watch them either. Its not that big a deal to follow the link back and just download the .mov of it, but it just seems like it almost defeats the purpose (for Gamevideos), they should have an option to just embed a graphical link to the download interface, maybe that would work better?
Also, the Gametrailers.com links and Youtube/etc work great, its just this site. They seem to have good content, so its just too bad they aren't as convenient.
As to this, I'm starting to have some hope this might not suck, though I remain skeptical. I'm not as big a fan of the Alpha games, I'd rather play either SF2/variants or Third Strike, and this game looks a bit like Alpha so far (its early of course). Also those black bursts (which are probably just video effects added after it was recorded) are really annoying more than anything else. Finally, I find the black outlines around the fighters distracting.
So yeah, I remain skeptical ;)
I'm pretty happy with how it looks. All of the moves look pretty faithful to Third Strike, just with flashier animations and 3D characters.
I don't know what you guys were expecting that has you disappointed at this, but it looks gorgeous to me.
yes!!! they stay true to 2D gameplay.. I was worried they're going "tekken" slow with this game.
The gameplay looked solid, but the facial expressions/animations were horrible.
@Maldron:
I know they wanted to try something new but i dont know. The look is bleh like you said. I hope that fighting stays tradionational though.
i'm seriously not digging the animation...
I like the look. Very cartoony with quick animation, which is crucial for SF games. I remember that SF EX was slower which gave it a different feel compared to previous SF games. But this keeps the feel very similar while making it faster.
Their faces are the only bad part of the videos. Ryu's face when he gets punched in the stomach is just comical.
Yellow?
@epionx111: I keep telling myself that in 3D, we expect smoother transitions between moves than 2D fighters gave us. You can't do that and still play like SF. But... the animation might also be absolute crap too. I'm not really sure, and I don't like that I can't tell.
@swordfish2eva1: I don't know, cutscene-like super moves fits the "too stylish" bill pretty well. I'd also argue that this game is a step back from SF3 visually, but this one also isn't done yet. Wait and see, sure, I know.
Is this some sort of contractual thing where Kotaku is required to use Gamevideos? Why not just link to the user-made You Tube version in the last post?
Is this a PSP game?
Ha! See what I did there? I know this isn't a PSP game, but I think the graphics look crappy, so I...well, you get it. I'm so clever ;)
1 day confirmed, this SF will be hawt like fire
It looks like a High Def SF alpha. But the faces they made where funny. the first Ryu face looks like he is strung out on pills or heavy meds. LOL
@Kiriphii: Ign said it's a wii game too.
[wii.ign.com]
@MURDERFACE: Gosh, well, I'm convinced!
@cringer8:
really? I wish it was then I'd have something new to play...
@MURDERFACE: Was that sarcastic?
It says right on the page "we don't know what system this game is coming out on"
I really want to like this game, but so far it just leaves me feeling...well...meh.
I think the style is interesting and somewhat refreshing, but the animations and facial looks just seem to strange to me.
Awww man. Thought it would be cooler, guess not.
@Kirbytheslayer: The Vommiting Panda: I was only answering Kiriphii's question. maybe be he did not watch the vid. But i guess that could of been a sarcastic answer to his question.
@ballaboy311: Agreed, the face art went overboard with the caricatures.
The main problem with people is that they are still expecting the flashiness and all the stuff from Marvel vs Capcom crap... really marvel vs capcom almost killed the SF franchise, I am watching the video and remembering the good ol' times of street fighter II turbo to super street fighter II turbo at the arcades!!
And also Street fighter III times :) -sorry for the double post-
Gameplay looks solid. However, I wish they'd go back to a more anime style... hell, I wish it'd go 2D again.
*le sigh*
Still hopeful for it, though.
i dunno, i was really excited, and i still am, but i dont think this will as good as SF3, and def. not evoke the same feelings as SF2
Yeah... this game doesnt look all that anymore. lol. the faces look retarted.
@rich8606:
Tekken is hardly slow.. well unless you really don't know much about fighters. SF EX was slow, but the overall animation and feel is more faithful to 2D (but not dead on).
It'll improve after a while for sure.
I hope gamevideos just goes out of biz. Thier videos have never worked for me (Im sure I have all the plugins). Do they not realize its broken?
The SF4 gameplay looks solid. At least they kept it fast like SF2 Turbo. The character models could be better, the faces look like butt. Still better than I expected.
But what about SFIII:HD???
I guess it has potential. But difficult to tell from crappy Gamevideos.com vids.
Virtua Fighter is still my fighting game of choice; and I am more excited about the HD SF2 than this weird Hobbit-esque redesign. Early days though, so I too will reserve judgement... and again, I just hope he doesn't mess it up like he did the 4th Onimusha.
The gameplay looks like it's good, but the problem with gameplay is that it can't really be judged until the game is actually played. It looks "fast" though, like it was commonly described, and I hope it feels fast too.
My only real gripe is that the character models seem off. I think the major issue is that Ken and Ryu's eyes look vacant and painted on. It's going to be a very ugly thing if ryu, ken, and any other fighters in the game can only stare directly in front of their face.
However, this is a work in progress, and I am confident that the end result will have the most serious of graphical and gameplay kinks worked out before we can pay to play it.
I still, however, haven't forgiven Capcom for taking out those create-a-fighter modes from the US releases of Rival Schools and Project Justice.
The character design = CRAPPY. Ryu and Ken look like trolls.
Looks ok, but I'm still more excited for the SF2 HD remake.
Mm, why are Ryu's eyes bulging out like that? :(
Fighting looks alright...character design is meh :\
I recall a recent interview in which someone from Capcom said the game is still very, very early in development. Seems they might be doing themselves a disservice by showing the game at this point.
Frankly, it's ugly.
Of course, everything animates nicely and it looks like hit detection is spot on but I sincerely hope we're looking at something missing an entire layer graphic texture and polish.
