We've already mentioned that The Orange Box has gone on sale, but Valve just emailed to point out that the sound track for their game, including the hugely popular Still Alive, is also on sale over at Amazon.com now.
You can pick up the song as a single for just $0.89 or the entire album on Amazon for just shy of $8. Besides the Steam sale, Valve says that GameUK, Best Buy and other retailers have their game on sale right now for all platforms. So get out there and get to Orange Boxing.

I would snap it up if I couldn't just extract the music from the files of a game which I've already paid good money for.
how bout' the price of... free since I paid for the game
Heh, Still alive is playing on my PC right now
Wait, I'm confused. "Gone on sale" meaning it is cheaper? or "Gone on sale" meaning it is available? BestBuy.com shows the orange box for Xbox 360 at $59.99 still. I just bought it yesterday but haven't opened it so if it is "on sale" meaning cheaper I'd like to know.
@Slothboy: the games are cheaper or so says valve
So they can make good box art ,just not for the game.
Already have the full Portal soundtrack. :)
Sweet, maybe they haven't updated their site yet. I'll swing by there on the way home from work. I just saved a bunch of money on my gaming by switching to Kotaku!
Thats great, all i have to do now is wait until somewhere that isn't charging exorbitent prices for shipping starts selling the soundtrack.....
@Dragonzigg: This. Is there anyone who wants this song that doesn't already have a copy?
Everyone has this song -.-
Orange box for the X360 will be $39.99 this sunday - grab a copy if you haven't already
its going to be $39.99 at best buy oops sorry I forgot to add that :)
@Slothboy:
Go back this sunday and get a price adjustment
Just got my companion cube dice in the mail :) I am very happy I didnt buy the game for computer so I dont have the soundtrack this might be something I'd pick up.
@Deadeyereborn: I am not very happy that I didnt buy the game for computer just that I finally got my dice. Just thought I'd clear that up
Very nice, Valve. Can we get an actual CD of it now? =(
Not sure I actually want this soundtrack - where the heck is Crawl Yard, Extinction Event Horizon, Nectarium, What Kind of Hospital is This?, and tracks from HL2?
Should I just extract from the GCFs?
Ooops, I already ripped the sound from the game.
MY BAD.
@Slothboy: Only the soundtrack is cheaper.
Already memorized the song on piano.
I will pay good money to NOT hear Jonathan sing Still Alive.
Sorry, but 'tis true. X-p
The "Still Alive" song is excellent and everyone should own a copy, but the Orange Box soundtrack is really not worth anyones time beyond this song
Mass Effect and Halo 3's are a much better value for quality of music.
They should have added the Ballad of Black Mesa as a bonus track..

I just ripped the music directly from the game, a game I legally bought. Does that make me a pirate?
I fail to see why that's different from, say, taking the engine from one car I own and putting it into THE BEST GO KART EVER. I'm not remanufacturing engines for profit or anything; I'm just using what I got in a different format than was originally intended. Only in modern times, I guess.
@thenino85:
Don't matter. It's probably against the EULA you agree to when you installed the game. The engine isn't a proper metaphor. You're dealing with physical objects of you which you own. You did not pay to own the Orange Box and all it's content, you're only 'renting' the game for use on your PC.
I ripped the music from the game too though.
I can't believe they're trying to sell me the music for a game which I already paid $50 for and which I could just extract the music from easily. They should be glad if I even listen to the music outside the game.
