Here it is, kids—Street Fighter IV in motion. The 1UP Show crew visited Capcom and chatted it up with the producer Yoshinori Ono to learn all about the fourth game proper in the twenty year old Street Fighter franchise. You'll maybe want to skip to about 3:30 in for your first taste of SFIV video, but expect to see plenty more after that. The clip runs a good twenty minutes, so make yourself comfortable.

Much... Watch... Video...
Something's wrong with the video for me, doens't play.
I had trouble watching it @ joystiqs site earlier as well.. Very long video though
dumb loading, its the same problem at destructoid
Looks disappointing. I can't get Street Fighter EX out of my head after seeing the footage. It simply looks like a better version of Street Fighter EX. I need a true successor to Street Fighter III Capcom! 2D graphics and smooth animation! :(
@DigitalHero: well as much as i agree. i'll wait to see the finish product before judgement
All I can say is...
fapfapfap!
@DigitalHero: Or even just the smooth animation part.
Ouch.
@weggles90:
That's because so many people are trying to stream the damn thing all at the same time.
Can anyone actually see this?
Does it feature Chun-Li's mighty thighs?
@shinko:
Indeed. I'll be waiting and the wait will go quickly because I'm no longer anticipating it's release.
They have it over at filefront too, for those who can't view it.
[files.filefront.com]
Seems to be almost 300 megs in size -_- Explains the huge buffering time ?
Damn video still hasn't loaded yet
Gosh, not only that but I think the server is probably slammed for this video.
Kotaku killed teh internetz again. ;D
@shinko: @DigitalHero: Same here. Don't knock it till you try it :D
Love the part where the guy bitches about the designs, and then get's smacked down by the other guy.. Pure geek class.
Though in all seriousness, people really need to go back and look the last generation of Street Fighters. SFIV isn't the massive departure that people make it out to be.
I hate gamevideos. For all the slow load times gametrailers has, it at least loads...
@shrewd:
No one is coming to hard conclusions for the final product. We are just knocking what we've seen since its a "preview". =P
@giantmonkeydeathlord: Downloading it now, thanks.
For those who can't view the video. This video features the gameplay in action should save you the hassle. [youtube.com]
@DigitalHero: i'm with you there. i guess were just anticipating gta4 and re5 now huh?
It's not really a clip if it's twenty minutes long. Also, it's called the 1up show, I don't know why you're hiding that fact.
just download the file from Filefront.com
Still waiting...
Are there more characters than Ryu and Ken in this video?
Also, this is 360 and PS3, right? Or will there be Wii?
@shinko:
Those plus MGS4 and Killzone 2 for me! =)
I fucking hate GameVideos
It looks alright, I think it'd be much better if it were more stylized, sorta like the teaser was. I'd really prefer to see it with suitably high res 2d sprites, but I guess as long as hit detection isn't a problem I can deal with it. But still, those faces are terrible.
looks great, and people need to remember that the game is like 5% complete.
I just get a plain black box.
This game looks like a 3D version of SF2. I freaking love it! For once there is a fighting game I'm actually anticipating to play.
It's Street Fighter gameplay in 2D but with 3D graphics, exacly what I expected it to be. Looks like it has work to do (it's not coming out anytime soon correct?) but looks like it will be alot of fun.
im not loving Ryu's face but oh well. so far it looks just like a graphical update of SF2 which wont be bad but it also wont be the most inventive thing on the planet. though there really isnt that much you can do with a fighting game. Though the SSB series seems to bring something new to the table every time but that might just be because of the nature of the characters. i will definitely give this game a try. Though SF2ce on XBLA works just as well.
The faces look terrible.
Complete and utter garbage.
So far this game makes me want to cry. The transition animation sucks. The game looks floaty. But the worst part of all are the character designs. Ryu has blue eyes? Ken has some bizzare 80s mullet. They both look like idiots. In the video they said they wanted to go back to SFII and evolve the game from there. Only one problem, SFII is quaint, and looked good only for the 80s and early 90s. By todays standards those designs are crap. I loved how the characters were designed and animated in SF III, this is just terrible. What a nightmare. Sure they will change the game quite a bit before release. But the graphics look pretty far along.
It looks fine for what it is, and that's a game in very early development. I'd play it and enjoy it. Well, if it ends up bombing, then it'll be the game people hate in the series...simple!
Hope it doesn't though. Delay and polish is what this game will need.
this looks awesome! i'm a huge fan of sf2 and loved the fact that they remained true to the series yet added enough to make it a brand new game when they went to sf3 and this looks to be doing the same. new gameplay, classic and new characters, updated visuals, and because its a streetfighter, rock solid 2d fighting (even if the characters are 3d). between this an kof12 it looks to be a good time to be a fighting fan.
only downside, none of the portable systems out right now can play a good fighter. i've tried kof2003, darkstalkers, sfa3, and garou on my psp and the d-pad just can't cut it.
I'll reserve judgment for now, because the game can barely be considered to be in its ALPHA stages. It will be annoying to deal with people like Fallingdove, though, for months on end.
i still think it is too early to make a good judgement call, they are still working on too much
@fallingdove: I have to agree with you on that. I think that a better model to look at should've been Street Figther Alpha 2. The faces do look huge and overly pissed off -- Hell, Ryu and Ken looked pissed off, but still controlled -- on this game they look like they're about to flip out any second and go nuts. not a fan of it.
The only game that's taken the best transition from 2d to 3d has been King of Fighters. I wish the devs would make a poll and see what direction people want to go with graphics =\
It looks great, just wish I didnt have to sit through knights of the scene kids round table to get the footage.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease load.
Go to that filefront link, they have a streaming video that works.
Also, gotta love the Pick of Destiny necklace.
GameVideos.com sucks so much ass.
get it right. get it right. get. it. right.
@beem: Thanks for the link!
Hmm..... that looks a lot better than I expected. The movement of the characters is really nice though it seems to feel so restricted. But I'm only a casual player of fighting games so it's hard to judge.
Anyhow this looks promising. With some improvements this could be pretty good. It's still lame that it's a prequel to SF3 though.
Basically, if you only want to see SF IV, just watch the first half.
The majority of this is the 1UP staff talking to the producer, and discussing the game amongst themselves.
I hope everyone realises this is really early. I very much doubt we'll see Street Fighter in 08.
Arcades in Japan by end of year yes, but elsewhere 09.
Suck my balls gamevideos. You'd think they get a better server for christmas.
Erm. Is it me or does Ryu not look very, well,Japanese and the face he pulls when struck just looks wrong in so many ways.
Don't listen to JYNXYCAT, if you want to get as much information on the game's details as you can, it's necessary to watch the entire video.
I'm pleased with how the fighting engine transitioned from 2D to 3D this time. They kept the fluidity and traditional style of the old school fighting genre intact, as they should have.
