Ascaron's Diabloesque Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, once slated for a Q1 2008 release, has now been officially pushed back to September 2008. In a post on the game's official website, the company explains that the game is being delayed in order to make it the best damn Sacred 2: Fallen Angel it can possibly be.
An extension of the development process was necessary in order to ensure that we realize all the development plans and ship both PC and Xbox 360 versions with the best possible quality and stability.In other words, it wasn't done yet. The post appeared on the site on Christmas day, which makes it a dubious sort of Christmas present for fans of the game or German symphonic fantasy metal.

That's one long delay. Especially considering Sacred 1 is as good as 4 years old already.
Judging by that screenshot, they need to push it back longer. Much longer.
BOO. That was a horrible pun for a header. :P
Please don't hurt me :)
Never heard of this game, I'll look into it.
Well it took the games industry log enough to understand there's only 3 months in a year: September, October, and November.
Every time I see something about this game, I think you're talking about Sacrifice 2. And every time harsh reality breaks my heart in two.
I weep.
As long as I get something comparable to a Blizzard type RPG on my 360 thats online, I'll be happy.
Doesn't matter where its from.
Don't get me wrong, Oblivion is fun, but it gets lonely sometimes.
@okenny :):
lolers so true. Oh lost oppertunities.. crack those whips marketing department
@hop3less: On a very small scale, you could check out Arkadian Warriors on Live Arcade. 2 player co-op, real-time rpg... just happens to be a bit short with only 19 missions.
Big fan of the original. Spent a lot of time playing that during the summer that it came out. It was strange though, the central quest was pretty crappy, but you could just explore the whole world, regardless. The multiplayer was quite good, as well.
Damnit.
@Rybanis: Yes, it certainly was terrible. But the game play was solid.
I still think Titan Quest is the best D2 clone out there. Hopefully it won't be by September.
We have delayed this product, because it sucks uncontrollably at this point, and we do not want to have a Hellgate: London type fiasco.
You actually have to try to mess up this concept, and up to this point, we have certainly put in the hours. We will now try to fix what Fred did. We fired Fred.
@zenpoet:
Ah, poor Fred. He's just making the development rounds nowadays. You think people would stop hiring Fred.
I enjoyed the first Sacred game for a while, it was just a re-hashed Diablo with more customization and different classes.
Kinda dumb not to make this PS3 also. I'm all for 360 getting this, but what's all this crap that developers 'need to publish multi-platform these days to recoup high development costs'?!?
Eh? Where are you now? Show me the money! Put your money where your mouth is! Put some bite behind your bark!
@argh: I remember buying the game on the basis that it was a Diablo clone, and had tons of glowing effects.
Ahhh, the old days...
The original was good, but god it was just way, way too easy. This meant it got boring after an hour or two, and for some completely hateful and idiotic reason, you needed to finish the entire game if you wanted to play on a higher difficulty. No thanks.
I love Ascaron a lot, but that is one of the top 5 worst design decisions of any game I've played.
Meh.. was looking forward to this game. Mainly because of 4 player COOP and Blind Guardian.
btw, haha @ header
@frostcircus: Yeah, just like those idiots Blizzard did with their Diablo series. Man, they almost had a classic with that one except for that top 5 worst design decision!
I'm looking forward to this. The first one was *almost* really good, maybe they'll move forward. Blind Guardian is delicious icing.
