Fortunately, the last few months have given us a glut of awesome titles to play over the holiday break. I say fortunately because to say that this week's list is anemic would be a huge understatement. A few titles are trickling in, but considering the season and the fact that Christmas Day lands in the middle of the week this is hardly surprising. So to the game industry I say, take a break and get ready to knock our socks off in the new year. We're looking at YOU Super Smash Brothers Brawl!
Jeopardy! Deluxe (Macintosh)
It's like having Alex Tribec in your living room.
Wheel of Fortune Deluxe (Macintosh)
Bring Vanna home for the holidays!
Well, that's it. Sorry to disappoint you... unless of course you are a Mac owner and really into game shows. In which case, I'm still sorry.

Heh, it's pretty nice not having anything actually. Get to set my gamefly subscription down to 1 game again (down from 3), finish up the few games I've been working on, and finally get a chance to touch the beauty everyone calls Mass Effect. That's right, i still don't even own a copy yet...been looking for a good price for the LE.
OH FUCK YES
Not surprising no, still funny to look at those two system sellers :x
$TEXAS
Finally a week to catch up and totally finish (100% completion) the games from the past couple of months.
Also makes way for a ton of time with those games I will be getting for Christmas.
i got to beat smg im at 113 second playthrough also some guitar hero
I have BOTH pre-ordered. :)
Who really wants to release a game on Christmas?
It's a crazy idea.
The first 3-4 months of 2008 will be really exciting.
Alex "Tribec?" There's a misspelling you don't see every day.
@Kirbytheslayer: Click the + to the right of my posts for ca...: Where's my cake!!?!
I find that as the holiday season 2005 wasn't so full of great games, I'm a bit dissapointed. But deary me, come 2009 and I'm buggered there's so many quality titles.
[I can only afford to buy games two years late.]
[Boo hoo].
It really is crazy how many good games are coming in the first couple of months of 2008. In the first quarter, we have: Harvey Birdman, Haze, the new Advance Wars, Burnout Paradise, DMC4, No More Heroes, Turok, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Lost Odyssey, Frontlines: Fuel of War, the first Professor Layton game to hit the US, Apollo Justice, the Club, Dark Sector, Condemned 2, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, FFCC: Ring of Fates, Crisis Core, Ninja Gaiden DS, and maybe GTA4. That's just nuts, even if not all of those games turn out great or if some get delayed. Hopefully it'll give us all plenty to do during the summer months when nothing comes out at all.
@Kirbytheslayer: Click the + to the right of my posts for ca...: The cake is a lie.
@Krondonian: The cake is a lie, because you lied too.
Games don't go down in price signifigantly over the second year. After the first year, games go down in price by about $30-$40. The second year, they only go down another $5, tops.
You lied. So no cake.
@Stormrider900: Isn't MGS4 first quarter as welL? Should go until the end of March and iirc it was scheduled for March.
@Stormrider900: out of thos e games, i'll be wanting Burnout Paradise, SSMB, and Devil May Cry 4.
maybe Ninja Gaiden DS and Condemned 2.
@Achaemenid: No, it was moved into Q2, according to Konami.
Wow...I'm just glad I can boost my Macintosh library... Guess the next PC/Mac Commercial will go on about how Mac HAD to put games out on Christmas Day...
@Stormrider900: After playing the demo, I'm really looking forward to frontlines: FoW. I really enjoyed the level I played, and the intro movie was very engaging.
I dunno about Burnout Paradise, the demo didn't do too terribly much for me, but the club might be interesting...
@Darthearl:
You dim-witted applejohn.
@Stormrider900: Fuck. I didn't know that. Man do I hate waiting for that title.
Anyway I love what I've seen from HAZE and Turok so those will be ready for me shortly :)
2008's gonna be the year of post-apocalyptic world in the gaming industry:
Fallout 3 (10$ on GOTY for this one), Boderlands (ok so maybe not post-apocalyptic, but haven't seen a game that looks like a MadMax movie like that before), and Rage (same as Borderlands).
Other games I'm waiting for are Far Cry 2, Too Human, Pirate VS Ninja Dodgeball, STILL waiting for that goddamn Castle Crashers game, both Lego games (Batman and Indie), and of course Madden 2009 (just kidding).
As for this Holiday season, I bought 10 games on my 360 alone in the last 4 months so I think I can find something to play in there, not counting a few games on my DS.
Thank god there is no new games we are overflowing at my store =(
@jimb213: I actually haven't tried it yet. I just listed everything I know about that's coming out in the first 3 months that has a certain level of recognition and/or visibility. I'm not sold on all of those games myself. I've mentioned before in these comments that I don't even like GTA. The games I'm most excited for in the first quarter are Burnout, Advance Wars, DMC4, No More Heroes, Apollo Justice (I'm a HUGE Phoenix Wright fan), and of course Smash Brothers. I am at least somewhat interested in almost all of them, though.
"Hello, I'm a Mac."
"And I'm a PC."
"Whatcha got there, PC?"
"Oh, this? It's Crysis. What's that in your hand, Mac?"
"Jeopardy."
"Man, that totally beats my Crysis."
"...It's also Deluxe."
"Wowee. Whatch out you don't hurt yourself with all that fun. Have a merry Christmas."
"I did your mom, PC."
@Achaemenid: Dude, I'm gonna be blunt here and say that it'll probably get delayed again. I think it's probably going to end up coming out somewhere between September and November of '08. Of course, maybe Konami will surprise me, but I don't see them releasing their biggest game in years in the middle of June when publishers almost NEVER put out big games.
'08 will be epic, mark my words.
I'm into game shows. Would love to see a Card Sharks game come out. hehehe
i like not spending money.
@Stormrider900: STOP! STOP! :(
In retrospect, the Smash Bros. delay isn't all that bad, it gives us time to do things like finally beat Bioshock, tackle Ep. 1 and 2 in The Orange Box, beat the Advanced Portal Levels, get the rest of the Power Stars in Galaxy, mess around with the new Halo maps, etc...
The fact that Apollo Justice is rumored for the same week as Smash is kind of disappointing, I hope Apollo Justice will do well despite the major overshadowing.
@scorpi:
please make this a new christmas comercial!!!
My wife put a moratorium on new game purchases almost a month ago, due to the upcoming holiday. So I'm ready to rip and tear some presents tomorrow. Then, off to pick up whatever anybody "forgot".
*wallet gasps for air*
THANK GOODNESS!
The only games that have me even remotely interested in the upcoming quarter are MGS4, Haze, Castle Crashers, and Omega 5. I may be missing a game or two, and before anyone says it, I did leave off SSBB. I don't get why the game is so immensely popular. It's fun at times, I'll give it that, but for some reason the SSB games just didn't do it for me. *shrugs* I think there's something wrong with me. lol
Macs have all the best games... damn me and my love of pc's
The new releases for this week are rough, like your mother likes it.
This isn't really all that bad. I mean, does anyone really have any money to be spending on games right now after all the good games that came out recently and spending whatever money they didn't spend on games on gifts for other people? At least the lack of games this week doesn't make me feel like I'm falling even further behind in the games that I need to get/beat department.
@def PD: *cough* [www.konami.jp]
@Krondonian: hey, i noticed KH2 is only $20 now. just a thought
@thejakeman: *crickets chirping* erm. KH2 is a good game...
My game money shall remain safely in my wallet... for now.
@ShaggE: If by epic you mean spening dozens upon dozens of hours playing Brawl. Seriously, I'll probably log at least 200 hours on Brawl by the end of 08.
You know its bad when the Mac is beating out all other systems in releases.
@Kirbytheslayer: Click the + to the right of my posts for ca...: Maybe it's like that in California, but in sunny 'ole Lancashire (it's in the north of England) I find that games go down rapidly after about two years. Never paid more than £23 for a game. Generally pay between £5 and £10. I wasn't lying. So where's my cake.
Damn...I don't want Panda Vomit...you can keep it.
