In addition to the already announced Wing Commander Arena, Xbox Live Arcade supporters will get Konami's 1988 arcade near-classic Super Contra. The side-scrolling and top-down action shooter will check in at 400 Microsoft Points and feature two player co-op, either locally or over Xbox Live as well as optional enhanced graphics.

Of course, the game supports online Leaderboards and sports 12 Achievements (totaling 200 Gamerscore points). It's the stock Contra storyline, for those who don't have their Konami bibles handy, featuring super soldiers Lance and Bill using loads of ammunition to take down the alien menace Red Falcon. Simpler times!

This is news to me, but Super Contra takes place in the very distant future, the year 2634 to be exact. December of 2634, if you really want to nitpick. Since I haven't played the game since, let's say, 1989, I think I can be forgiven for not knowing my Contra history.
