Want to know not only who the best developers are in Europe, but the best developing nations as well? Next-Gen got you covered, satisying both your competitive fanboy streak and your latent nationalistic tendencies with their EUROPE'S TOP 50 GAME STUDIOS (their caps, not mine) roundup.
The results? Predictable. England not only prevails, it decimates the competition in the "best nation" stakes, while the best developer went to Rockstar North, narrowly beating out Traveller's Tales and Crytek. Hit the jump for the top 10s in both categories.
First, the "best nation" competition, which saw points awarded for each developer cracking the top 50.
1. England - 887 Points
2. France - 109 Points
3. Scotland - 77 Points
4. Sweden - 58 Points
5. Germany - 51 Points
6. Denmark - 37 Points
7. The Netherlands - 16 Points
8. Ukraine - 12 Points
9. Norway - 9 Points
10. Romania - 8 Points
And now the top 10 developers
1. Rockstar North (Scotland)
2. Traveller's Tales (England)
3. Crytek (Germany)
4. Criterion (England)
5. Ubisoft Paris (France)
6. EA UK (England)
7. SCE London (England)
8. Ubisoft Montpellier (France)
9. Lionhead (England)
10. Sports Interactive (England)
Surprising picks there. Rockstar are a given, but I'd have ranked SCE London a lot higher, as well as Lionhead and Ubisoft Paris. Ah well. It's not my list, so your thoughts, opinions and venom can be directed towards Next-Gen, not me.
