PACHTER WATCH: Still Believes In EA

After news slipped that Spore was probably going to be delayed, it was also revealed that EA was looking at a 4% slip in sales and net losses of USD$25 million. Ill omens? Signs of impending doom? Not if MICHAEL PACHTER has anything to do with it!

Applying his sheer force of will to the topic, he thinks EA will be coming up roses.

Over the next two years, we expect to see dramatic earnings growth for EA...while many investors may remain skeptical about the company's resolve, and question whether it has the discipline to align its cost structure with revenues, we think that the company's Q4 results and FY:08 revenue guidance demonstrate the company is well positioned to grow.

He's basing this on the idea that Crysis, Rock Band, Hellgate and Mercenaries will make up for money EA won't be making from Spore. Oh, that and his SHEER FORCE OF WILL. Sounds confident, even buoyant, but wouldn't Spore have added to that revenue rather than replaced it? Which means all the money Spore's going to make is just going to be missing from EA's yearly profits?

Pfft, probably not. What would I know! I'm not MICHAEL PACHTER!
