Last Friday and Saturday night, Sydney's Town Hall was the venue for a couple of sweet-ass gaming concerts. Called A Night in Fantasia 2007, and put on by the Eminence Symphony Orchestra, it was the first year (thankfully) that the gaming and anime sections of a previously-unified programme were seperated, and the show was all the better for it. I don't know much anime, and as such I don't care much to listen to it. But games? I know that shit.
Since I'm sure you're familiar with the concept of an orchestra playing video game tunes, i'll cut to the main points. The venue? Gorgeous. The orchestra? Surprisingly professional. The set list? Little too heavy on Japanese titles, but still excellent. The highlights? Mario, Shadow of the Colossus and Xenosaga. Oh, and Kow Otani's rad haircut. Extra treats on offer were some songs (and accompanying clips) from the upcoming Deltora Quest and Odin Sphere.
Final verdict? I didn't even need to stalk Otani, because he ended up sitting two seats away from me. Good times!
