Think RedOctane are going kick back and watch as Harmonix and Rock Band steal the show? Not likely. RedOctane boss Kai Huang, who must be on some sort of PR crusade at the moment, says:
We're definitely looking and evaluating and have been evaluating all types of different instrument-based games, and drum is certainly one of the ones that we've been looking at.We haven't made any announcements yet about what we're going to do and when we're going to release a game, but fans can rest assured we're definitely looking at all of those types of games.
Now, he doesn't specifically mention an "all instruments at once" kind of experience like Rock Band, but we all know that particular elephant is nestled snugly in the corner of the toom.
So the only question is, can the Rock Band bandwagon support RedOctane's weight? Is the genre even going to allow for a bandwagon? My spider sense says...probably not. The wagon's wheels will be under enough strain from Rock Band's (inevitable) high price-point as it is without a johnny-come-lately trying to squirm his way onboard.
Like they say, first come, best dressed.
