You might think that the PLAYSTATION 3, newly launched in New Zealand, would be a resounding failure with only 4,835 console sold during its first week of availablity. Apparently, you'd be wrong.
In the country of about 4 million, that's pretty respectable. Even the general manager of sales and marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand was pleased. He says of the launch:
It's very satisfying for us to see that our close planning with retail and channel partners has ensured that all consumers wanting to get their hands on a PS3, whether they pre-ordered or not, were able to. With the PS3 now realised, the strong consumer support to date indicates that we've had a successful platform launch and are at a great starting position for us to grow and develop the PS3 platform.
You know what they say. Once you've got New Zealand, the rest is easy.
