With the removal of the 20 GB version of the PLAYSTATION 3 from Sony's own SonyStyle.com, it seemed that the lesser of the two PS3s was going the way of the dodo. Today... that still seems to be the case.

According to GamesIndustry.biz—and a number of our helpful retail slave readers—a number of other retailers are getting out of the 20 GB game. Best Buy and the Gamestop companies have removed the 20 GB PS3 from their stores, with a handful of other sites, like Toys R Us and K mart, listing the SKU as out of stock.

Sony says, according to the folks at GI, they're just meeting market demand. That's an interesting take, as one would think that the market would actually want a less expensive console that isn't horribly gimped. I'll continue to hold out hope that the 80 GB model is not far off. Michael McWhertor
