Financial types Barrons have just released their "World's Best CEOs" list for the year, based on "CEOs who have top-notch reputations in the financial community and who likely would be missed by investors if they unexpectedly left their jobs". Note this is CEOs of all companies, not just those in the games industry. Banking and energy industry afficionados rejoice!
Sorry fanboys, the list isn't ranked, but then it wouldn't matter if they were, since only one gaming exec made the cut: Satoru Iwata.
Kyoto, Japan-based Nintendo's earnings are jumping and its cash hoard has swelled to more than $6 billion. Iwata, a former game developer, says his strategy is simple: "We are not fighting against other companies—we are fighting against ignorance of video games." Certainly, no one is in the dark anymore about Nintendo's potential.
Presiding over an 82.5% increase in your stock prices looks good on a man's resume, it seems. Who could have guessed. I wonder if he gets a little trophy? If I was sitting on $6,000,000,000, I'd make myself a trophy.
