This week's hardware sales data is in and it should come as no surprise that Nintendo sits at the top of the heap with the Nintendo DS Lite and Wii. The DS Lite passed the Game Boy Advance in total sales weeks ago and looks to hit 16 million handhelds sold in Japan within the month. The PLAYSTATION 3, however, still has a way to go before it reaches an install base of 1 million consoles in its native country. Xbox 360 continues to be a non-issue.

Here are the hardware sales for the week of March 12th to the 18th from Media Create.

• Nintendo DS Lite - 121,471
• Wii - 67,070
• PSP - 43,769
• PLAYSTATION 3 - 21,635
• PlayStation 2 - 13,321
• Xbox 360 - 2,910
• Game Boy micro - 727
