I love this game, and that's dangerous in a handheld title.
I find myself walking around with the DS Lite in my pocket just looking for an opportunity to play Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords. Like using the bathroom, going some where to stand in line, "watching" TV with my wife.
(See I just played for an hour)
This is going to get me in trouble.
Puzzle Quest blends a sort of Bejeweled knock-off with a role-playing game theme to deliver something that is altogether different and fun.
To start the game you create a character who will be one of four different classes. Each class gets different bonuses while playing through a puzzle. They also unlock different spells as they level up.
Once in a single player game you roam around a map looking for quests, which is essentially a way to get you matched up with different opponents with varying special skills, spells and difficulty.
The actual battle is played out in Bejeweled format. You move gems and such around to get three or more in a row matches. Matching up skulls delivers damage. Gold gives you gold. Purple spikey things gives you experience and the rest gives you one of four types of mana.
You use this mana to cast spells that can effect the playing field, heal, deal damage, all sorts of things. It's tons of fun. The only thing I don't like is that multiplayer is limited to local support and has no WiFi. Dammit!
