    Exclusives, They Still Matter?

That's what Gamasutra's asking. And they're asking three prominent industry analysts: Screen Digest's Ed Barton, Creative Strategies' Ben Bajarin and everyone's favourite , Michael "Guesstimate" Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities.

Barton can't see any third parties remaining console-specific, saying unless there's a big payoff from the platform holder it's a lot more profitable to go multi-platform. Decent enough answer, but also a little boring. Bajarin takes a different approach: he thinks third parties should concentrate on each platform's strengths, and if that means making three different games, then so be it. Only small studios who can't afford to do so should be concentrating on a single console.

Which brings us to Michael Pachter.

On console-moving exclusives to keep an eye on this year: I think Gran Turismo 4 will move a lot of PS3s, but don't really see a lot of other games that will move the needle this year for hardware sales.

Oh Michael. So many things wrong in that sentence I don't know where to begin. Still, it is nice having you around, analyst reports would be so boring without you.
