    Sega Considering Canning The GD-ROM

Even though the Dreamcast faded from public view a few years back now, Sega still produce the proprietary GD-ROM discs the system used, which has been handy for the bedroom coders and shmup fans who still churn out the odd game for the Dreamcast, keeping it alive.

But no more. If some pretty die-hard DC fansites are to be believed, Sega are considering shutting down production of the discs, meaning no more DC games. Ever. And while for 99% of you this probably won't mean a thing, if true it'll be the final, symbolic event in the life of the little console that couldn't, since it will for all intents and purposes be cutting off the system's life support.

Flowers and donations can be sent to Sega Sammy Holdings. A public funeral is not anticipated, however friends and relatives of the Dreamcast are invited to attend a private service.
