This Day in Gaming, December 12th

1983: Nintendo releases Donkey Kong, Jr. Math for NES in Japan. "See, your kids aren't become stupid by playing Donkey Kong! They're just a little more special."

1996: Microsoft releases Microsoft Golf Version 3.0 for PC in the US. It's hard to believe that golf existed at all before Golden Tee and Tiger Woods.

1999: Interplay releases Planescape: Torment for PC in the US. It's an acclaimed RPG that focuses on speech and plot as much as combat. This is one of those games that slipped through the cracks for me. Still worth a go? Keep in mind my lazy ass never finished Oblivion.
